Not disputing that value of the ideas -- it's just that this seems to me the most complicated possible means of accomplishing the ends, assuming the "ends" in this case is the expansion of Potter.
And the more time/money/effort you spend on just the means, the less you have available for the rest of the project.
The simpler solution is to put Potter in the waste of space known as the Lost Continent and something else in Jaws/Amity.
Also, there seems to be an assumption that the closure of Jaws/Amity means they are going to use that entire plot for whatever they have planned. While I hope that's the case, I haven't seen anything to indicate that it's a given.
Well, Screamscape just updated with the monday update and it seems like based on his inside sources and digging around that we are in fact going to be getting a phase 2 of potter in the Jaws area themed to the London side of HP. Whats more, he also mentions the King Kong 360 idea I mentioned! I really, really hope I am right about that train ride because King Kong 360 is amazing and having a whole "train" ride to Hogwarts with that tech would just be mind blowing.
What more, based on what he has heard, Universal is going to work non stop to try and get this 2nd phase open by 2014. That would explain why we got such a sort notice with Jaws! They need to get working ASAP if they want this whole London area done in two years. He also says Universal will be making the offical announcement very soon. On the Hollywood part of the site he mentions that Universal will make the announement about the Hollywood version of HP as early as this Tuesday. Whatever day they announce Hollywood, they will anounce Orlando as well. So, hopefully on Tuesday we have some concept art and more details on the rides and experinces this new phase of HP will be bringing our way.
I personally am very, very happy about this 2nd phase because it really is the missing link. Plus, now I can get Butterbeer at both parks, so whenever I want one I no longer have to switch parks to get one! I just wonder if they will be able to top FJ with the new ride(s) in the London area. If anybody can do it, it is going to be Universal so I am looking forward to what they have up their sleeve.
I always had a problem with Rowling accepting to put Diagon Alley right beside Hogsmead. I never thought she would go for it. I figured that if there was going to be an expansion it would be something from the Forbidden Forest. With putting Diagon Alley in the Studios, we are getting the expansion and maintaining the integrity of the area from the point of view of the Potter fan.
My biggest issue with building Diagon Alley right next to Hogsmeade was that it made no sense logistically book wise. Sure it's a theme park and there is only so much you can do to keep the theme fully intact, I know as a Potter nerd it would annoy me to the point of me grumbling about it every time I visited. Not that that would be a rational reaction of course, but sometimes the Potter nerd overrides the rational side of the brain. It would more than likely drive me completely mental everytime I walked straight from London into Scotland and I know I'm not the only one. If they do put Phase 2/London into the Studios it would work.
So the fact that it's right next to Jurassic Park is somehow better?
I just had a mental image of rogue raptors escaping from Jurassic Park and running wild thru the halls of Hogwarts.
Those First year's wouldn't stand a chance.

I just heard about this(talking about living under a rock)and I'm gutted..
I can live without it,but if they dare touch ET,I will boycot US.Thats a promise!!
please, just no more potter! it's going to be potter overkill.
then when it's unpopular, they'll end up with 2 massive areas that need retheming.
The thing about Potter is that it is basically fantasy with dragons and wizards and magic spells and such. That will never really go out of style.
Neither will sharks. Why do you think Discovery has Shark Week every year?![]()
But what about your favorite hot dogs in Amity??
