Is there a Japanese restaurant at epcot and is it pricey, tasty, etc... opinions welcome :) any pictures would be excellant too :thumbsup2

I'm sure there will be people to disagree with me on this but Tokyo Dining was our worst meal in wdw...ever. It gets great reviews but our meal was just horrible. I had a sushi app, it was just ok, the sushi I had @ kona blew this out of the water. And i believe it was the mahi mahi dinner, it was the most terrible thing i have ever had. My husband had the tempura (app and entree- not sure what he was thinking) and it was ok, but reminded me of something i would get @ a carnival. Maybe it was an off night, maybe we got the wrong thing but we will not be back.

The Japan pavillion is my favorite place in all of WDW. I love everything about Tokyo Dining, which is a little more quiet and subdued than Teppan Edo, the other restaraunt in the pavillion that is teppanyaki, where the chefs do the little show at the table in front of you.

If neither of these sound like your cup of tea, there is also Kimono's over at the Swan/Dolphin that is a sushi bar, and I agree with the PP who said that the Sushi Bar at the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian is amazing.

There are 2 table service and 2 (maybe 3?) quick service restaurants in the Japanese pavilion. Check http://allears.net/menu/menus.htm for the restaurants, menus and prices.

We really enjoyed our meal at Tokyo dining. The view was lovely. The CMs were darling. We had lunch there. I enjoyed my sushi. Can I get sushi as good or better in the large city I live in - yes. Is it better than what people who are used to supermarket sushi are used to - also yes. The kids loved our server (they both speak some Japanese so she fawned all over them). The kids' lunches (chicken with rice and steamed veggies) came on bento boxes in the shape of the monorail. Very cute. DH enjoyed his meal too.

We absolutely LOVED Teppan Edo! There are many teppanyaki style restaurants back home, but we really enjoyed the "Disney feel" at Teppan Edo! Our chef was female (never had a female one before), and she was wonderful! I know some people say that the portions are not enough, but for our family (we are not huge eaters), it was fine. It was hard to find room for dessert.

Pardon me for not being specific, the last time I ate in the Tokyo Pavillion was 3 years ago.

DH and I ate at the teppanyaki restaurant using our dining plan and we LOVED it! If I remember correctly, it was at the top of the building that had the gift shop.

The food was very good and it filled us up without stuffing us :) Of course, we are also biased to Japanese food, I'm eating okonomiyaki as I type! lol

Teppan Edo is one of my absolute FAVOURITE restaurants in all of disney. Its simply DELICIOUS!! Plus its entertaining to watch them cook it in front of you. My son agree's with everything I just said. We love it! I had the filet mignon...the most fabulous steak ever!!! My son had chicken...it was fantastic. I would HIGHLY recommend it! :cloud9:

Tokyo Dining or Teppan Edo for Date night w/o kids? We do a lot of the Teppan Edo style dining here at home.

I commented on the other thread where you asked this question but incase you miss it I thought I"d let you know that I say Tokyo Dining for just a couple! Check the other thread!

We had DxDDP last year for a week, and our meal at Teppan Edo was everyone's favorite!
