What are the crowds like in January? We're going right at the end of the month so miss New Years by a long time.

if youre going in the week (mon - fri) then i think the only bad day you'd have is wednesday, as here in France the kids at primary school get wednesdays off, so i found that the park is busy on that day

mon tue thurs fri are fine though, i go all the time on tuesdays and never wait more than 20 minutes for a ride.

i find that lines are much longer at the disney studios, especially for crushe's coaster

it depends though - Wednesday busy isn't anywhere near as busy as Saturday/Sunday busy. Our midweek trips always include a Wednesday, and to be honest I don't usually notice any difference in ride times etc on a Wednesday compared to any other day of the midweek (but then we don't do any of the big thrill rides, except BTM). And January after New Year holidays is the quietest time of all to go to DLP, so I really don't think you'll have any issues with a busy park at all midweek OP:).

well definitely, its not as bad as sat-sun... but i noticed a bit different wait times on a Weds to the other days..

I.E on a tuesday the wait for crush coaster was like 25 minutes, then on wednesday it was reaching 55-65 minutes.

but otherwise the waits during the mid-week are next to nothing.

the ones you will wait longest for are crush and thunder mountain

Luckily les vacances in France aren't until mid february :D

We will be in the parks Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The plan at the minute is;

Friday: Disneyland Park, then over to the Studios if we have time.
Saturday; Character Breakfast, then the Studios, then perhaps finish at Disneyland Park.
Sunday: Do whatever we want to do again.

It's gonna be chilled out, doing everything we want to do. We want to eat at Rainforest Cafe one night, but if anyone has restaurant suggestions it would be appreciated?

you should keep in mind that the lines are longer at studios and recently studioes closes at 7pm and disney closes at 10

Very interesting thread.

We will go from January 04 to January 09 and I´m really looking forward to see the park without a lot of people.

:santa:

going anytime of year during a weekend will be pretty busy.

i have to say i havent noticed any difference on a wednesday either and all of my trips have included wednesdays.

How about Cafe Mickey on Saturday night, it's a lively atmosphere in there at night. Unless you especially wanted to have a character breakfast, I'd suggest skipping this in favour of a character lunch or dinner. If there's EMH on this Saturday you'd be better utilising this. Just my opinion but I don't think the character breakfast is very good value considering you've already paid for a hotel breakfast in your package. I much prefer to have a character lunch or dinner (there are several to choose from whereas there is only the one character breakfast).

Ooh really, I'll definitely discuss this with the girls. Thank you. And I'll check out Cafe Mickey :)

The first time I went in January it was quiet and don't get me wrong it still is BUT its alot busier than my first time....the more I go the busier it gets..i reckon people come on here read the 'dead in Janaury' threads and go!:rotfl:

Ah well if it ends up really busy it won't phase us. I honestly just want to have fun with my friends and my sister, relax and do whatever we want :)

The January times havent been announced yet but we've made a loose plan around last years times.

We're going on 24th January, getting there late about 9.30 PM (thanks Easyjet!) so staying over at the Explorers then checking in early as poss on 25th.
Staying 3 nights at the Santa Fe, the 3rd time we'll have been there.

Does anyone know if there are any parades or shows in late january?
What about decor, is it still Christmassy or will it be stripped bare?

Not that I'm all that bothered, we've seen the Christmas theme for the past 2 years so don't mind if there's no theme. Just got to wrap up warm I suppose!

We just miss each other then! I am also wondering about parades.

The Christmas decorations will have disappeared and Fantillusion will have finished but the main Once Upon a Dream Parade should still be running.
If Mickeys Winterwonderland show is on this yr it often continues longer than the Christmas season.
There should also be the Stars nCars parade in the Studios
