Any advice for what to pack for clothing for the month of January? We live close to Maine and we are use to cold weather. I'm just hoping I won't have to wear my parka!!! :teeth:

We have been several times in January and all I can say is think New England! :rotfl: We have been swimming in 80 degree weather one day and bundled up in winter coats and hats the next day! Be prepared you never know but it is much better than being in NE in January! :wizard:

Thanks for the advice. I'll make sure to pack the "summer" clothes. Since we are driving down, we will have our "winter" clothes. So, I guess we will be prepared for anything. :cold:
I keep telling myself "We're going to Disney", so it doesn't matter what the weather. We're going to have fun!

We're in Nova Scotia :wave2:

Been in January twice now, and it can be cool"ish" :goodvibes ..that being said, DH and I have always worn shorts, with a tshirt, and a sweatshirt in the am, and the sweatshirt is always off by 11am...and goes back on around 6:30pm.

Kids are usually in those "zip off into shorts" casual pants, or sweats, tshirt and a hoody.

We've never needed gloves or a hat - well, except for Mouse Ears :earsboy:

And yep, we're in the pools - in the evenings, too - with the Minnesotoans, Mainers, and any others brave enough to hit the 80* water!! LOL!!

:wave2: Hello fellow Maritimer!!! Now your post is what I needed to hear. AS long as I can enjoy the afternoons with shorts and a tank top. I'll be happy.
Since you are so close, how would you compare the January Disney weather to ours? Would you say August? Or may be September? I realize there may be colder days, but I'm trying to stay focused on those warmish/coolish days.
I guess what is cold to one person is warm to another. Just depends where you are from.

We were at Disney Jan.21-29th last year and we brought both summer and winter clothing. That was the best advice we received as we actually swam at WL one afternoon and two days later on my grandaughter's birthday at the early 8:15 AM seating at PSB at Norway we all wore hats, coats and gloves. Temperature that morning was 27 degrees (coldest temp in two years!!) Our poor little princess Jasmine had to wear tights and long sleeve shirt under her jasmine outfit!! The whole week it was cool in the mornings, needing a jacket and long pants, but by afternoon was warm, ok for t-shirts and light-weight pants or capris. Of course the week before we arrived it had been in the 80's all week, so you never know. Just be prepared for both seasons and you'll be fine.

Basically I will echo what everyone else has already said! We were at Disney this past January, second week, and had a wonderful week. I had packed just about everything or so it seemed. We had great weather with five of our seven days above 70 degrees. The other two were a bit rainy, more jeans and a shirt weather but by no means cold. Layers were the key, especially for the evening.

That being said I would go back in January in a heartbeat. It was just so nice to not be overly hot, the crowds were practically nonexistent or so it seemed compared to being there in June. We fit everything in that we wanted to do even with the parks closing earlier. Loved that time of year!!!

Have Fun!

I'm going early December, and I've read at DIS that in December some folks needed gloves and hat. So if I bring a hooded sweatshirt, gloves, and big scarf, that should be enough for any cold? I don't need to think about winter jacket do I? Maybe I should pack a light windbreaker for rain?

Just a picture one of those perfect summer days..22-24*, no humidity, like last week was here!!;) In the evenings, it would be like camping at Mactaquac...gotta have a sweater:) (No bug spray though!! LOL!)

Now today...different story..holy dyin', it's warm in Cape Breton tonight...34* and climbing as of 3pm this afternoon:)

My mom is one of "those" people;) who find anything under 76* "a little chilly"..LOL! and she wore her capris, sneakers with little socks, tshirt, and a polar fleece sweatshirt, that had a hood. And every day, she wound up taking off the polar fleece.

Our dates last year were Jan 23-Feb10, and the year before, we were Jan10-Feb2..

HTH!!

Perfect summer days in January I can handle. I really hope DH and I will be lucky enough to get weather like that. No bugs and no snow sounds perfect to me. :rotfl:
Humidity kills you. So I will be looking forward to not have to deal with that in Disney.
I'm a bit like your mum...anything below 70 and I find it chilly. Yeah I know crazy.
When are your dates for this coming trip?

Having gone 4 times in January, you'll have to pack a little of everything. The weather in Florida at that time is a gamble.

I have pics of one trip where we have bathing suits on the first day and our winter coats on by the end of the trip.

HI LoveWDW :wave2:
I am no authority on Disney weather or what to bring, but from what I have learnt so far, I can share a few ideas with you. :chat:
Definately bring a windbreaker for rain and it will come in handy to break any chilly winds. A hooded sweatshirt, gloves and scarf should get you through chilly weather if it's above freezing. Personally, I prefer a light winter jacket for anything near the freezing mark. Hopefully someone else will jump in here and let us both know.

Thanks for the heads up. I am rethinking my packing strategy. I think I'll need to include more jeans and sweatshirts than I had previously thought.

Our weather is always changing! In January look at our forecasts. If there's a coldfront, pack for cold!! And vise versa!!

Thank you for the ideas. I'll have to rethink what I bring. :)

OMG, is it cold enough for long johns? :scared1: We usually don't bring those out until the windchill factor is -40 Celsius.
I hope the weather in January doesn't require long johns. :cold: Makes me cold just thinking about it.

hi
yes we are from the u.k. and even we were cold in january this year, it literally was freezing, allthe water displays except for the rides were turned off and the plants covered in warm wrappings. it was like it for about three days. we went for a drive out and the orange groves were covered in icicles where the watering equipment had frzen as it hit the trees. i think last this jan was exceptionally cold, people were taken by surprise- i bet wallmart did a roaring trade in warm clothing :cold: :cold: :cold:

We went the end of January this year. We took gloves and scarves and used them! We also took the hand warmers that you can put in your pockets or your gloves and they were wonderful! We layered (short sleeve pullover, denim long sleeve button up, hooded sweatshirt, light jacket), but still wished we had something warmer! Oh, and also long socks!
