we are planning a trip to all the parls in orlando in jan. '05 i am wondering if anyone has traveled there during this time and has any tips or tricks that would be helpful. we will be traveling with 3 small children. i am wondering about weather, crowds, etc.

I was there in Jan 04 and had a really good time. You want to bring a little bit of everything clothing wise...for the most of our week, we wore shorts during the day and put sweatshirts on at night, but there were two days where we needed jeans and sweatshirts during the day. Crowds weren't bad...needed fastpass the first few days after New years, but by mid week, we didn't even need fastpass! Good Luck and have fun!

We went in January 2 years ago with my then 3 year old DD. The crowds were minimal. We waited in very few lines and then only at peak times for the favoriate attractions. The temperature does vary (we were there during a cold snap), but layering works well. We would wear pants with tshirts, sweaters, and light jackets and discard layers as we went.

Have a great time.

We went the last week & a half of January 04. Temps ranged from sweatshirts & shorts in the AM, ditch the sweatshirts around noon, and sweatshirts/pants in the evening. Not much rain- 1/2 a day, maybe. Some days, needed the sweatshirts all day. We're from Maine, so we even went swimming one day. Would've gone more, but were too busy.

Crowds were light enough - not too long of a wait for rides. Think the longest was RNRC - 60 min with fastpass - but that was because we waited until the afternoon.

All in all, a nice time to go.

I love going in Jan. The weather is unperdictable so pack for both warm and cold. 3 years ago, we were in shorts the whole time and swam everyday. For the last 2 years, we had to have jackets and pants on in am and late pm, but the afternoons were great.

The only really crowded time in January is the Martin Luther King weekend. We have gone the week before this for the last 2 years (my husband has run both the marathon and half marathon). But this last trip, we stayed longer and actually had a park day on the Saturday of Martin Luther king. It was awful!!! We literally got stuck in Fantasyland trying to go from Snow White to Peter Pan. It took us over 20 minutes and never made it to Peter Pan. We finally turned around and left the park for the day.

So just avoid that weekend and you will be great.
