We are planning a trip to DW in Jan. of 2005. We have never been during this time and are wondering about the crowds and weather if anyone has been during this time could you please let me know. Thanks

Welcome to the Dis Angelsmom:wave: You might try posting this over on the Theme Park strategies and attractions board:D

BTW, January can be pretty cold, but there are no crowds:D

Crowds are very light, few or no fastpasses needed. Hotels are cheaper and ps's easier to get. The temp can vary, 50's some days when we've been there and 80's others on the same trip. Bring sweatshirts and long pants as well as shorts and be prepared for rain. The hours are also shortened due to the lower crowds. I hope this does not sound negative, as I love going in January, but the temps can vary greatly.

We went to WDW in January last year and it was great - no crowds and no queues!

We are going to go in January next year as well it was so good.

I'm a fair compexioned Celt so I could never cope with August.

This really is more of a Theme Parks kind of question.

We went in early Jan. 2003 and loved it! Mornings and evenings were quite chilly, but we were were prepared for it. The crowds were so low we walked on just about everything.
As long as you are okay w/ chilly temps I think you will really enjoy WDW in Jan.!

We love January..................no crowds..........some days can be cool.........but our family believes that it is well worth it for the lack of crowds.......and it never is 'realy THAT cold' in WDW....

Love January! My first trip to the world was in Jan. No crowds. Nice temps (I wore jeans & t-shirts all week).

My next trip is in Sept & the heat's going to drive me bonkers

Jan is my all time favorite time to go. We have been the last 3 years in Jan and loved it. The temps do vary though. One year we wore shorts and swam everyday. But hte last 2 years it was jeans and jackets in am and late pm and jeans and t shirts in day.

The crowds are very low, except for Martin Luther King Weekend. That Sat through Monday in the parks is crazy. So avoid that weekend and you will have a great time. If you have to go that weekend - use fastpass.

Other than that weekend, all the rides are walk-on or have a 5 min wait. The parks open later and close earlier, but due to the low crowds you get to get everything done in the time it is open. Be sure to check the guide for parade and fireworks before going so you know which days to go to which parks. Due to the light crowds they don't have the night time fireworks/shows every night.

Jan is a very relaxing time to go. Since the parks open later - you actually get to sleep a little late (What! Sleep late on a Disney vacation? Unheard of. No, really, you can and not miss anything since they open later). And with the parks closing earlier (except Epcot which is still open till 9 pm) you get to have real dinners and enjoy more non-park stuff in the evening or just relax in the hotel. You will feel more rested after a trip in Jan than you will other times during the year.

Have fun.
