January in the Parks? Need advice

We went this past Jan 31 and Feb 1. Our MK day was Feb 1 and I couldn't book Splash FP+ at all leading up to the trip. However, about 4 days before we left, the Splash FP opened up. The maintenance was done early as I was told often happens. So if you'd be really disappointed missing Splash or Kali, the later you go in Jan the better. The crowds were still very manageable I thought (though this was the first time I'd been there in over 20 years, so I'm no expert!).
