January Exercise Challenge-Start the New Year Off Right!!!

Well, I did 20 of walking, 35 on the bike and 20 of strength yesterday. However, since I claimed 20 of strength on Wed and then failed to actually do it, I'm at 1165/1400......1165/18000.

I'm gonna call today 65 - mostly because the odd 5 in my count is bugging me!

I spashed around in the pool with the kids for a little over an hour - swam laps for 25 minutes.

Coached 3.5 hours of hockey practice - skated drills with the kids for about 40 minutes of it.

SO...25+40 = 65

660/800

I'm at 924/1100. Getting there!

ok friends, i need some opinions. Today I worked from 9:30 am until 2:00 pm helping my sister move 1 truck load of garage stuff to her new house ( carrying and lugging) and helped do construction site type clean up ( picking up tools, wood, heavy duty cleaning etc) at the new house up stairs and in the basement. I feel I did " work out" doing all of this but to I also feel like I'm cheating to add 240 minutes. I would welcome anyone's opinion....
Yeah, I'm struggling with the same sort of question. DH set up a "walkstation" for my birthday -- a computer by the treadmill so I can surf the web while I walk. (It has no good place for a keyboard yet, so I only lurk while walking.) It doesn't work well to walk quickly while web-surfing, though, so today I used the "walkstation" but only went 2 mph (at a slight incline.) I decided to count some of the time walking at this slow speed, but not all of it. I wore a heart monitor, so I was able to tell how hard I was working (heart beat about 55% higher than resting and about 55% of theoretical maximum for my age.) Maybe count half the time that you spent moving boxes, more-or-less, depending on how hard you felt you were working?

I'm interested in knowing what other people count as exercise, too. I used to count gardening as exercise, but as my fitness has improved, I've stopped counting it (except maybe for heavy-duty work like digging and hoeing.)

I tend to count about half of the heavy work I do. For example, last week I spent 2.5 hours rearranging our bedroom and doing some heavy cleaning there. I counted about an hour of it because there were several stretches of time where I was carting boxes and definitely getting a work out.

Well, I was tempted to bail out tonight, but then just couldn't skip it all together. So, I decided to just do 10-15, but in the end found myself going the full 30. I was even tempted to keep going until I got distracted by DD needing some help. So 30 on the bike, plus 15 walking earlier. 1210/1400.....1210/18000

Another 108 minutes the last few days, so now I'm 689/720. Yay, I'm 90% of my goal for the month.

Made it to 845/600 today - so I passed my goal. I need to set it higher next month we'll see what numbers I get by Wednesday. Good luck all and keep up the good work.

45 minutes tonight - so I'm 710/600 for the month. :yay:

45 minutes on the bike tonight to bring me to 1255/1400.....1255/18000

Updated!!!

We only have a few more days to go, but many of you have met or surpassed your goals!!! :cool1: I am hoping to make it, walking the dog twice a day is helping quite a bit!!!

50 minute aerobics class tonight - had to duck out early to pick up the kids on time!

710/800

Another 60 minutes at the gym, weight machines and treadmill.
