January Discounts?

Does anyone know if there are any discounts offered in the beginning of January normally? Dining? Ticket upgrades? We are going for the marathon and trying to figure out the cheapest way to stay. Thanks for any info.

We went this past Jan and got upgraded ticket ( free hopping and free water parks and more) and also an upgraded room. We had a res for POR with standard room, with the upgrade we got a water view and the better ticket, and even got money back( it had been paid off). Our savings was about $500. It was cool! That had come out Nov 1st last yr.

Thanks for the info. Do you remember.....did you book directly with Disney? How did you hear about the upgrade? Did they just credit your cc? I'm a DVC member who hasn't paid cash in awhile and I'm a bit confused on how to get the best deal. Anything you can tell me will help. Thanks again.

I booked online and made all my payments that way too. I got the code from Mousesavers.com and then called Disney the day it began and they upgraded it and credited the difference back to my credit card. Very easy, at first the CM said I couldn't get it with the standard room, so she'd have to put me in water view, I asked what the difference in price would be and she said I'd be getting money back, so heck yeah. Better room for less??

The only special was the tickets upgrade and that was in November. Then in Feb. e-mail pin codes came out for Middle of April till the beginning of June.
I received the e-mail from WDW for a value room for $79 a nite.
