We just booked a mid-January trip to WDW and have no idea of what to pack, clothes-wise. We usually go in the late spring, summer or Oct. We have no idea what weather's like. I know it won't be shorts and swimwear ... but would someone please advise on what they usually pack for Jan. trips? Thanks ever so much!!

We have only ever gone in January so I hope I can help you out.
You said "...it won't be shorts or swimwear..." I've always packed both- I've gone for days waring just shorts. It's also usually nice for a swim.
That being said, it can get cold: Pack jackets, winter hats and light gloves.

:cold:Being from Canada of cold winters, Florida's winters are really nice, in comparison, but it still can get chilly.

I would overall suggest packing a variety: stuff for warm and cool weather.

Have a great trip, and I hope I was of some help!

We go almost every year in January. We have had some years where it has been warm and sunny, we've had some years where it's been cool(temperate) and sunny, we've had some years where it's been cold and sunny. Notice that it's almost always sunny. :sunny:

For a 7-10 day trip, I usually bring 3 pairs of shorts, 3 pairs of pants, one fleece, 2 turtlenecks, some short sleeved tops, bathing suit, warmish lounging clothes (flannel pj bottoms to go with the fleece...great for wearing to & from the hot tub).

Think layers...you may start out in the AM with the short sleeved top, with the fleece and a jacket, by mid-morning the jacket is off, by noon the fleece is off, by late afternoon/early evening the fleece is back on, at night the jacket is back on.

Also keep an eye on weather.com for the 10 day forecast...that can give you a pretty good idea of what temps to expect, which will help your packing process.

And remember, you're at Disney...you can buy something!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

January weather is really unpredictable. We go every year in January and the only really down side is having to pack for every season.

Last year the weather was absolutely perfect, upper 70's to low 80's and sunny every day. The year before, however, we practically froze the entire week (and we are from New England and used to the cold!) We had on winter coats, mittens and hats and were still cold.

Unfortunately, I would advise packing for any and all kinds of weather from bathing suits to winter coats and everything in between. It's a pain because you'll end up with twice the luggage, but won't need to worry about being too hot or too cold. Enjoy your trip!

We pack a bit of everything in January, and assume we will be doing laundry! Don't forget mittens! I had to buy mine in the park last year! Ouch!

We love January in Disney! We always go to the pool even though it isn't "hot", the pool water is always about 82 degrees. I've never had to wear winter clothes yet (cross your fingers - we leave on 1/15/06) but a fleece type shirt and long pants helps. Enjoy your trip!

We are going in January and although we have never been before, we will be packing shorts and swimwear, among variations of pants and warm ups.

we were obviously not there last january the same week as Jynohn!

we were there for 9 days last january and i wore my down coat and gloves every day. on only 2 or 3 days did it get warm enough to take it off in the middle of the day. my pictures are hysterical--that big bright red winter coat at disney!

never had a chance to wear my shorts or swim suit. but i know it was right to bring them, because you just never know....

the weather was actually another reason why i'm glad we stayed in a timeshare for one week. having a timeshare allowed us to put a load in the washer inside our unit when when we got back from the parks and put it into the dryer before we went to bed. we didn't have to stay up until it was finished.

I'm crossing my fingers right along-side you since we're heading down on the 15th also. Btw...hubby is originally from Northern Jersey too.

We typically go in January each year, and we've learned to pack everything, because you never know if will be warm, moderate, cool, or cold.
