January 8, 2005 Magic Cruise - Let's Get Ready to Cruise!

My holiday wish for everyone is that we all find time to enjoy family and friends in the midst of the hectic pace of the season! We are enjoying ourselves here, even though we're busy with work, shopping, a Christmas festival that we are all involved in, parties and packing

I've been trying to catch up on messages and maybe I've missed the plan but is there a designated spot and time that we're meeting?

We were excited to read about the launch and hope that we can see that! DH has always enjoyed anything related to space - he recorded the audio of the first moonwalk on his reel-to-reel recorder when he was young!

Can't wait for the cruise...but we're going to enjoy every day until then because sometimes the anticipation is almost as wonderful as the event!

Hi Wingawh - I did not book directly through DCL. I booked through Dreams Unlimited!

Staci - there was no problem chaning the reservation at Universal. They didn't even question it, but I think I read somewhere you have up until five days prior so that is a pretty good policy.

Well, its snowing here so much right now I feel like I'm inside of one of those snow globes! LOL.

I hope you are all doing well. With Christmas and our vacations coming up it most certainly is an exciting next few weeks.

Anyone else get their docs??

Mine just arrived by UPS! Anyone else? I am on my way out the door just now so I am glad I didn't miss the guy.

I am so excited it feels like Christmas morning!

Maybe today's the day for everyone! Yeee-haw!

No docs here, and no snow either. lol Allison, since you are experiencing so much snow, you deserve to get your docs first. Today we had our really first cold day of the season, but I am ready for a warm caribbean cruise.

This will be exciting everyone announcing when they receive the docs.

Marylee, I go to Providence about once a year for a meeting at the main post office.

no docs yet, but apparently have been assigned a cabin. Does anyone know anything about Cabin 2150 (deck 2)? A bit disappointed as we did the guarantee thing & I was hoping for a bit of an upgrade...but at least we'll be there in a few short weeks!!

No docs here but isn't this fun just waiting to hear from all who get theirs!!!! I am so glad for you. Of course you will all hear the screams when I get mine so you won't have to check out the cruise meets!!! Lisa, do you work for the post office. We have a very good friend who is actually the manager of the service desk of the main post office in Providence, her husband was my best man and my husband was their best man when they got married. I actually work about a quarter of a mile from the big main post office on Corliss Street. Is that the one that you are talking about? Did you know it was the first fully automated post office in the country? I am so quirky aren't I? We have a saying here and it is "that is so Rhode Island" because we are such a small state everyone knows something about someone or someone who knows someone. Well anyway, now whenever I hear the UPS truck I will just have heart failure. I live on a dead end street so when the UPS truck comes you just know it.

Well, everyone keep posting this is such fun during such a frenetic time.

I talked to DCL today to make some changes to our trip (my DW's mother & sister are now going with us). They told me our doc's had not been printed yet so they could make the changes before printing.

Oh well, it looks like it will be Christmas before they arrive for me. My consolation is that Christmas is really close

Christie, welcome! Look on pg. 16 of this thread for the list of travelers. We are all so very excited.

Allison, I am so very jealous! I drove up to my house today and there was a large white envelope propped up on my door. I thought that maybe it was my docs. But no, it is a calendar from a local real estate agent Oh Well.

sopandbass, I know that many of us are going to watch the launch. I'm not sure if we have decided where yet. I was thinking the back of deck 7. But 10 may be better if we need to change sides or something. What does everyone think?

I'm going to keep my eye on nasa.gov to make sure the launch does not change. If it does, I'll let everyone know. Also, we had talked earlier about a meet on Sun. Is anyone interested?

Staci, I am interested in a meet on Sunday, I know it will be great to watch the launch on Saturday but to be honest I will be so into that and watching my family enjoy it, I really want to have time with all of my new friends from the forum if only for an hour so yes, I would love to have a meet on Sunday. And thanks for letting us know if the launch is gonna go or not.

I just looked at the NASA site and unless I am missing something the next launch is now the 12th of January. That would be sad but at least I will not feel so compelled to rush now. Anybody hear anything different?

Docs are here! The only problem is, they are not mine! Fortunately they are for my friend Lisa and her son. They booked through DU though and I have no idea how they got my address. The only thing I can think of is when I made my reservation (through DCL) I asked to make sure that we were scheduled to have dinner w/ Lisa and her DS. Oh well! Hopefully ours will be here soon.

Brack, I'll look at the site in a bit and get back.

My front porch is covered in alpine trees, a bench with lights and other decorations so everyday I come home I'm searching all over just in case our doc's arrive. Not yet! pooh!

Thanks for checking on the launch Staci. I hope I'm wrong 'cause it would be way cool to see that.

I guess there was some sort of a problem with one of the parts on the rocket that was'nt treated with heat correctly.........so bottom line Jan. 12th. Kind of a bummer but what can you do?????? Anyway, no docs for us yet

I'm still looking for my doc's. I called my friend to tell her that they send hers to my house. She cannot wait to see them.

No docs here either. I am going to call my travel agent tomorrow. That's too bad about the rocket launch. Oh well, we will have plenty to do on the ship nonetheless.

Marylee, the Corliss Street Post Office is the one I was talking about. I don't work for USPS, just attend an annual meeting they host.

No docs here yet either, oh well, I did a lot of ordering on-line and everytime the UPS truck comes I feel so excited, it is awful, I really am not interested in those OTHER packages. My DH keeps asking me what is wrong, normally if I get anything delivered I am very excited and cannot wait to open them.

That is too bad about the NASA launch, oh well, as long as the astronauts take off okay that is what is important.

Lisa, what a small world, that post office is like two miles away from my home!!!

We're fairly new to the DISboards but not Disney. I find these boards simply fascinating but just have never really gotten into the participation aspect. But here we are.....My name is Penny, DH Don, DD Peyton (10), DD Presley (8), DS Parker (6). We live in southern Illinois and travel to WDW 3 to 4 times a year. I am a travel agent specializing only in Disney and have been doing that for almost 5 years. I'm now branching out into the cruise line and am so excited. My daughters would love to chat online with any other little girls that will be on the Jan.8th cruise. We will be a party of 9 and will be following up our cruise with 3 nights at Pop Century (my favorite value resort by far) and 5 nights at the Polynesian (our favorite resort, hands down).
