Ok, we are getting pretty close now with November just around the corner. It seems like an age ago that I started this thread

I'm going to close the list on Friday 6th December, roughly 4 weeks before we set sail. This will give everyone plenty of time to organise all of my gifts

I will produce on the 9th of December a full list (hopefully printable) and a deck plan marking all the cabins taking part.

We are now at 24 cabins and having experienced FE before there is often a rush towards deadline date. So what I propose is if we go over 40 cabins I will split the FE into 2 groups of 20+ each. If I do split it will be a random split (not by deck) as part of the fun of FE is discovering areas of the ship you wouldn't normally go to. (hope that makes sense)

Also what about an FE meet sometime on the cruise ? On another FE meet we took part in some time ago we met a lovely couple from the states who we still keep in contact with.

Thoughts / comments ?

With the holidays coming I don't think December 9th is plenty of time at all. I would pick November 9th. If it was another time of year I would say this is reasonable but with Christmas shopping and holiday parties I would like to have all my shopping done before December. This is my first time doing the FE but is over 40 people typical? I'm surprised by over 24.

Our last cruise had 42 cabins taking part. You always get a few late entries as the cruise gets closer and I expect us to get around 30 taking part in the FE.

I'm guided by others to the cut off date but feel that the 9th November is a little to early. The only reason we have a cut off day of sorts is so that I can process the list to make it a little more user friendly plus make a deck plan. people can still join the FE group up until the day we cruise but obviously the closer we get the less people will see that they have joined.

You are right though that its a busy period so I propose a date, the 23rd November which is just under a month away and 6 weeks before the cruise.

Your thoughts ?

Sorry I hope I didn't come off wrong, I realize I may have sounding like I was complaining but this is my first FE. I don't want to limit people from joining in in any way. The 23rd sounds really good but only if that's good for everyone

In all my previous FE experiences, cutoff date means cutoff date, and anyone who decides to do an FE after the cutoff date starts a new, independent group. I assumed all FEs were done this way when I signed us up. (Oops!) Unfortunately for me, I don't have the bandwidth to be making new gifts right up until we cruise, especially with final papers, the holidays, and travel happening between now and then. If there's not an actual cutoff date I may have to drop us out, which obviously is totally on me and not a problem at all, but I would just need to know for sure either way. (And Nov 23 sounds good.)
