January 4, 2014 Fantasy, Trust, and Pixie Dust!

Luv2 - closet to DHS: none of the three big DVC resorts - otherwise Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin. The last two have lots of discount rates for teachers, govt workers, nurses, military etc. All three are easy walking distance to Hollywood Studios.

Packing today for the Wonder 2/11 leaving next Saturday. We are doing Tequila and Tacos excursion in Cozumel and the shorter Stingray City snorkel on Grand Cayman. Getting excited!

So in regards to discounts for nurses.... May police officers.... What do you need to do to get that rate? Tell the TA?

I was hoping to use DVC points to save $$. Will have to go with what's available. Hopefully the Disney transportation won't be so bad.

Which would he easier in terms of transportation out of SSR, OKW, and AKL?

I have only stayed at SSR, but the resort has 4-6 bus stops, I was half asleep most times we made it back, so that could take a little while to get back/leave depending on your stop.

From what I understand you tell them when you book and perhaps show id. I work for IL (state employee and have a friend that does this a lot.) I don't know this from personal experience, only what I have been told. Imagine your TA could inquire.

Of course there could be blackout times.

Concerning bus transportation to the parks, OKW and SSR have several stops, AKL has two. Having a DD living and working there, I usually have access to a car.

I posted on the dvc boards and got the answer below. I'm going up try for AKL if I can and can't get an EPCOT area reservation.

I would put AKL at the top of the list with OKW and SSR tied for last place. With AKL, the bus goes to Kidani first, then to Jambo House, then to the park...no other stops. Yes, it is a bit further out, but I like the lack of addtl stops. If you are going to DTD, the bus will stop at Jambo first, then to Kidani.
I have found the mulitple stops within OKW and SSR to be a bit annoying. If you are at the first stop, then it could be at least 15 mins before you leave the actual property!!!! There are mulitple stops within each resort.

I agree that the stops at SSR and OKW are annoying which is why I always make sure I have access to a car. I love Kidani, but I still love Boardwalk first and have great fondness for my home resort OKW which was the only DVC resort when I bought in!

Hello all,
I've requested to be accepted in the FB group. I was on the Jan 12th 2013 Eastern Fantasy cruise and it proved most useful and allowed us to meet on the ship just by recognizing us from our FB pictures ...
I've also started to plan ahead (love doing that) as I will celebrate my 40th onbard and as we'll have a week in WDW after the cruise ...
We'll stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge but we will try to take a quieter pace and only really do the things that we loved last time we went and also discover the new stuff ... Planning one day in each parks and definitely one day to go around the other hotels and have a look at them ... A bit of Downtown Disney in the mix and we should have a great week ... We are currently debating in splurgining in a dinner at Victoria & Albert ... Did any of you went already ?

Excited! I think my friend is goin to join us on this cruise!

I will add all the Facebook requests later today after work.

Go niners!

So all the FE stuff is going to be organized on facebook rather than here?

I requested to join the group

We are just back from the fantasy but loved it so much we booked onboard this cruise. We also added WDW for a week so we stay with Disney the wholle time .Looking forward to meet you guys soon(ish)

Welcome! There seems to be so many people who are repeat fantasy cruisers which is a testament to what a great ship she is and what an awesome cruise we are all going to have!

I was over at my friends last night planning the trip together. She isn't on the dis but I added her to Facebook, I believe she will participate in the FE as well. Tomorrow is door decoration making ( or the start of it anyway) can't wait!

I will be doing door decorations but not the main FE. I hear the ship is huge and just 20 cabins on the Wonder took us an hour+. My kid can only last so long. I'd love to do a small group for just a few kids though if anyone is interested. We just can't handle a lot of cabins. I don't like to throw him into the kids club to deliver FEs. I like to use my kids club time for places he can't go like the spa and other adult venues.

I can never get my kids out of the club! And now my oldest will be able to go to the Edge as well. I may never see them!

Wow, really? Mine liked it because of the video games but I wanted to spend time with him too and do fun stuff. I also didn't want him playing video games for hours on end. That's ALL he did in the club. He doesn't like group activities. Likes to be to himself. Also after about 2-3 hours he's ready to leave anyway.

Oh mine loves video games as well! Luckily he also likes art and cooking, etc. He loves exploring the ships too. So he really liked the mouse detective thing on the Dream. And of course he loves the pool as well. And he LOVES the food!
He's lucky though because we always travel with the same family, so he gas a built in buddy to do all of this stuff with!
Actually my kids just love the whole thing!

Welcome, Glorila03!pixiedust::welcome:

If you're on Facebook, we also started a group there.

Hey everyone, new question:

We are currently set up with an early/main dining time. We are a group of 4 adults. I know that most families choose the early dining time and I am now in charge of doing research for the group to see if we should switch or not. Anyone want to tell me the pros/cons of each dining time? On my princess cruises we did early dining and ncl is always anytime dining... Just need some suggestions.
