January 31, 2009--St, Croix/St. Thomas

A few pages back gmark said that on his 3 prev. "Superbowl" cruises formal night has been pushed back to Monday instead of Sunday so we are all under the assumption it will be the same for this cruise.

I feel the same, I can imagine the stares I would get wearing my floor length gown with my black smudge paint under my eyes :lmao:

It's quiet here again. Everybody getting ready for the holidays?
We booked a Duck Boat tour in St Thomas, anybody else going on this? My kids love the amphibious vehicles.

We've got our excursions booked... my sister in law did it at 1:30 am the day we could book! Got a Palo brunch and dinner. And... finally surprised my DH with the cruise on Dec. 13th! He's excited to go.. you know, one of those guys that if you tell him we're going next year he wouldn't be excited... but if you say we're going next MONTH.. oh yeh!
Still have to print out one more door magnet, finish our toiletry kit and dust off those waiting suitcases! But.. with Christmas in two days, wrapping presents is gonna have to come first!

By the way... we booked the surf and turf in St. Thomas... land and sea tour.. looks awesome! Plus, being our first trip to that island... seeing Trunk Bay National Park is a must!

Only 38 days and a wake up for us to go!

Woo Hoo! :rotfl:

I've got everything booked so far that I can. Once we get on, I want to try and book Palo for 6. I just got more ink for the printer and I need to pick up some more magnetic paper and get those printed out. After Christmas I'm going to have to assess the clothing situation and see if I'm missing anything. I'm soooooooo ready to go!

I agree, the board has been pretty quiet. I guess with the holidays and all everyone is busy busy.

I am ready for Christmas, I have one more gift card to purchase and I am done. I still have wrapping to do but no biggie.

I booked everything I wanted except Palo Brunch. I managed to get a Monday night ressie for 6:30 at Palo but no Brunch ressies were available so I will give it a shot once on board. We are doing a private half day sail in St. Croix and booked the Skyride to paradise point in St. Thomas. I also booked Parasailing at CC.

Also, we booked the couples choice villa....has anyone ever done this? It looks pretty relaxing.

Hi, everyone! I'm not on YOUR cruise, but I'm taking the St. Croix cruise on March 28 (the next offered). I thought I'd beg everyone ahead of time for two things:

1. Scanned Navigators! Can someone please upload their Navigators to the site as soon as possible after getting back to land? I'm SO EXCITED (as I'm sure you are now!) and I want to have the most time possible to be able to dream of exactly what I'm doing on the cruise. Plus, as you wait for the scanner, you'll be able to relive those Disney Magical Moments.

2. Pictures of Fish Extender "prizes!" This will be my first time to join in an FE exchange, and I'm coming up with ideas daily. I want to make sure mine are realistic and will be appreciated.

In the meantime, have a delightful Christmas, a wonderful Hanukkah (Day 4's candle just burned out here at our home), a happy Kwanzaa, a peaceful Rohatsu, a generous Ramadan, and a fantastic New Year! And, of course, Happy Packing!!!

Hello,

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season!

Our family is on the list of cruisers for the first post from last January!
I haven't popped on since June though. Can someone update me on if there is a DIS meet planned? Last year there was a large traveling magnet that went from door to door with written wishes on it. Anything like that already planned for this cruise?
We're ready to join in the fun! :woohoo:
Our family consists of myself, (Barb), DH Dick and son Steven, (17) and a
sad :sad1: son Mike who can't leave college to come with us. And he KNOWS what he's missing!

Please update me on any cruising plans.

Has anyone called yet to see what movies they're showing??

This is are first cruise. I have been reading to see what clothing you will need for the formal and non formal nights. How dressy? Can anyone give me a better understanding on what to bring? I dont want to be overdressed or underdressed. Please help!

jb: I didn't even know you can call ahead to find out what movies are playing. Is there a 1-800 number that gives you automated info?

skrause: I am not sure what the "norm" is but my formal gown is all black and floor length. For semi formal I bought a knee length sheath dress that's really cute. It's black as well but I bought some cute accessories to mix it up a bit.

Lynn: I've never called before, but apparently you just call the reservation line and the person who answers can tell you..:confused3

jb: I called and asked about the movies for our cruise. The rep advised they haven't released the schedule for January yet and said for me to try back at the end of next week. I will call next week and let everyone know what I find out.

Happy New Year Everyone!

OK so we had a slight change of plans....is anyone else going on the Buck Island Snorkel in St. Croix?

I have wanted to go to Buck Island all along and the vendor informed me yesterday she doesn't sail there :confused3 and since this is where I wanted to snorkel I decided it would be better to just go w/the Disney excursion.

Thank you for the idea. My friend and i are having a mommys day out tomorrow to go shopping for all the things i need. She suggested a black dress so thats what im going to get. Im not to anxious as i have put on more weight with all the meds im on. :sad2: but i cant control everything. talk to you soon/

Can't go wrong with black. Not to metion it's sliming which is why I like it as well ;) Good luck dress hunting, let me know how it turns out!

Last call for anyone who want to participate in the exchange of magnets and\or fish extenders! Its going to be fun!

Please sent me a private message by Wednesday (Jan 7th) if you would like to join the group.

We had a very similar experience - wanted to go snorkeling on St. Croix / Buck Island but our son is too young for the Disney Excursions so we've been contacting some local providers. It may have even been the same person - one of the quotes we received back was from a lady that did sail / snorkeling but didn't go to Buck Island. After a little more looking around, it seems like they have to be licensed to go to Buck Island and there is a limit on the number of licenses. We made our reservation this morning for a full day sail / snorkel (9:30 - 3:30) to Buck Island which includes lunch Barbecue (hamburgers / hot dogs and mahi mahi along with adult punch and kid punch!) through Big Beard's.

Ah I see. She didn't explain that...she just said she doesn't sail there. I didn't feel like going through the hassle of trying to find another vendor so we just opted to go on the Disney excursion instead. I heard the snorkeling there is great which is why I wanted to go so we shall see......
