January 31, 2009--St, Croix/St. Thomas

There are not a lot of outlets in the cabins. (2 plug ins in the cabin and maybe one in the bathroom) Some people bring power strips if they have a lot of things to plug in. I know that just with the battery charger for the camera and camcorder I run out of space quick)

2 words if you need coffee....... Room Service!!!

Welcome aboard!!:cool1:

This is great spot to get ideas and your questions answered. I am amazed at all the stuff I learn (usually I am just a lurker and it is boredom at work that is getting me to post so much l:lmao: )

I have to admit I'm usually just a lurker as well and it isn't boredom at work it's excitement that is getting me to post at all. I too am amazed at all the stuff I'm learning.

CanadianDisneyDad ~ Welcome aboard! Glad to have you along. I have made my magents for everyone and wouldn't mind printing an extra for you if you will PM me your cabin number. Wouldn't want you to feel left out ;)

You can tell it's getting close, the board has really picked up pace in the last couple of days.

DH and I finally decided on the Buck Island Snorkel in St. Croix, Skyride to Paradise point in St. Thomas, and Parasailing at CC. I have a feeling I am going to need a vacation when I get home :lmao:

Hi All!! Is everyone starting to get ready to pack yet?? We took our suit cases down last Sunday and hopefully this weekend we'll start getting clothes together. Getting very excited now!!
So have we decided on a cruise meet while on board? Last year when we cruised we met up at the promenade lounge right before the life boat drill. Anyone interested in a gathering there or someplace else? say 3pm. Would love to meet everyone!! Also, how are we handling the magnet exchange? maybe we can do it at a cruise meet. Just a thought :)
Thanks, Laurie

Thanks for the offer - we actually have a design plan already and I received a PM that said we could go in the exchange so we are in!

Looking forward to seeing all the different designs.

cruisin ~ I am new to cruising so I have never been to a meet before but it sounds like fun. If we all decide to get together we will be there. As far as the magnet exchange I believe Wendy (accola) said in the e-mail we could either exchange on the first day or throughout the cruise whichever we prefer. Wait...r u participating? I didn't see you on the list today?? :confused3

CanadianDisneyDad ~ Wonderful! I am so glad you got to participate :goodvibes

The gown sounds beautiful!

Does anyone have recommendations on where to dine at Magic Kingdom? We will be at the park for one day before the cruise and was hoping for a nice place to dine for dinner and maybe breakfast. It has been about 5 years since we were there last. Also, if I remember correctly there is not any wine/beer in the MK.

I would prefer to go to Epcot for dinner but I don't want to pay for the pass since we will be all day at Magic Kingdom.

Thanks!

My boss has eaten at Tony's on Main Street several years in a row and have always had a great experience! They always get a reservation about 1 hour before the evening parade... then they watch the parade during their desert! If you ask, you may get a booth at the windows, and they don't let anyone stand in front of them on the street. It's a great idea that I just haven't got my family to try yet. Enjoy! Or... you could jump on the monorail and have dinner at O'Hana's in the Polynesian resort. Their dinner is family style and very tasty! If you time it just right... after dinner you could go down to the beach and watch the electrical water pagent float by at 9:00 pm... before dinner you may see the fireworks at the Castle from across the water. Either way, the Poly is a great place to spend some time! I've also heard that the Poly's character breakfast with Lilo and Stitch is the best one yet! Have a blast whatever you choose! :yay:

Hey guys,

Woohoo!!!:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:
Cruise documents arrived today! Well, I don't actually have my hands on them yet, but Fed Ex tried to deliver them and I wasn't home, argh!! My son is using crutches and he didn't make it to the door on time.:sad1: But when I called, they said it was a package of documents from Disney Cruise Line that required a signature!!

Fed Ex guy came back!! Got my documents, not much to them, but very exciting just the same!

HI!
I agree a cruise meet would be nice. And 3:00 in the promenade lounge sounds like a good idea too. Maybe just a quick Hi, introduce your family, and your DIS name, so we can learn who's who from the start.
Share your magnets however you want, but in the past, we enjoyed coming back to our cabin and finding a surprise magnet on the door.
Hope to meet you all real soon! :woohoo:

Hello Everyone!
Haven't seen any responses to a Saturday cruise meet yet. (3:00 in the promenade lounge??) What do you think? Any other ideas?
We will be glad to provide "fill in the blank" name tags to use for a meet if people do want to gather.

Our Family has booked for the Magic Western this week. We are very excited and hope to meet many new friends. Our son, 11yr is looking to make some friends as soon as possible. Been working on door magnets all week. Hope to see you all very soon. This will be our :dance3: :dance3: 4th Disney cruise and our son's 6th.

Hi CW, welcome, but I think you're in the wrong cruise thread, this thread is for the Jan. 31 Eastern, not Western. When are you sailing?

Funny how the brain works. We are going on the eastern but somehow I typed western. After 3 western cruises I guess it was on my mind. Anyway, hope to meet all onboard...

Hi all,

Well, we are starting to get really excited. So far, the girls are half-packed. I have not started, and DH never packs until about 12 hours before we leave (that drives me crazy!). Last year, though, he accidentally forgot to pack 2 pairs of pants and had to send everything for dry cleaning mid-week, so I am hoping he has learned his lesson!

We are going to be renting a car in MCO on the Thursday when we land and then heading to Residence Inn in Cocoa Beach - is anyone else staying there before the cruise?

The Promenade Lounge sounds good for a meet. Another option is Deck 9 near Goofy's Galley, especially if the weather is nice and the kids want to stay swimming. We will go wherever the group decides - it's definitely nice to take a few minutes and meet everyone, because then you recognize a few people all week long and can say Hi as you bump into one another.

If anyone out there on this thread has 11/12 year-old or 7/8 year-old daughters, please PM me - my girls are very interested in getting to know some kids before they board - maybe we can even find one another in the cruise terminal as we wait for our boarding number to be called. We found last year that friendships formed on the first day made the whole week (time in the clubs, rendezvous's at the pool, and the afternoon at the beach at Castaway Cay) infinitely more fun!

We have not been upgraded - my TA thought we might be because it's our third sailing, but so far online we appear to still be in our sideways Cat 11 on Deck 5 forward. We did get moved up from Second Dinner seating to Main, but now DH is thinking maybe he would like to try out Second seating - we will mull that one over for a few days...

And now, the waiting which has seemed to drag on forever, is almost over!

:hourglass

Can anyone from the US tell me whether you can easily purchase Bonine in FL? We used to be able to buy Bonamine (Canadian brand name for Bonine) at Walmart and elsewhere here, but apparently it's no longer available in Canada. I rely on it for enjoying my trip, and I am hoping to get it at Walgreens after we land. Please let me know if I need to arrange something different!!!

See you all soon!
