January 31, 2009--St, Croix/St. Thomas

Has anyone seen the pattern for the mickey ears for around the room number on the door? I can't seem to find those and they are super easy to make!

Hi everyone,

We have just changed our reservation from Feb 28 to Jan 31, so here I am joining in on the fun!

We are:

Elizabeth (40)
DH Jeff (40)
DD - 12 (when we cruise), and
DD - 7

We are staying in a Sideways Cat 11 on Deck 5 at the very front of the ship, have second dinner seating (due to just transferring our reservation today) but are on the waitlist for main seating, and this is our 3rd DCL cruise. Our last 2 were the Western itinerary, so we are looking forward to trying the Eastern.

I have been researching St. Thomas and St. Croix a bit, but I am still not sure what excursions we will be interested in. I am also hoping Castaway Cay won't be too chilly in early February - we have had great weather both previous trips in the last week of February - it can't be THAT different in that it's only 3 weeks sooner!

Anyways, we are looking forward to chatting with all of you - my DDs are hoping to make some friends online ahead of time, and are ready to do "snail mail" with your kids closer to the cruise if you are game!!!

Talk to you all soon,

Elizabeth

PS - Count us in for a cruise meet on Saturday the 31st and for the magnet exchange - it sounds like a great idea!

have second dinner seating (due to just transferring our reservation today) but are on the waitlist for main seating,

Well, sadly, I'll be helping you out a bit. :( We'll be postponing our Jan 31st cruise until fall '09 sometime (hopefully including St. Croix) so that will move you up one notch on the waitlist. :)

Here's the update.....
Mike got the job in Orlando!
We sold our house in Ohio in record time considering the market! (got an offer 3 weeks after we listed)
Put a downpayment down on a lot to build a new house in Orlando.

And that new house is scheduled to close......

ON JANUARY 31st!!!!

Is that weird or what?

I know it probably won't close exactly on that day, but it'll be a very busy time for us anyway, and the extra funds will help out (especially since we have to move twice)

It was fun getting to know all of you. You guys have a GREAT cruise! Who knows, maybe I'll go to Jetty Park and wave to the ship as it passes!!! :)

Hey guys, hope everyone is great, things have been totally crazy lately.

jb: Sorry I can't help out with the ears question. If you get an answer let me know I am interested as well.

ohio: It stinks that you won't be able to cruise with us but I certainly understand your position. Good Luck w/the House!

cd: Glad to have you aboard :)

Lynn

Any idea when the final payments are due and/or the date for making Palo reservations etc...? I'm not sure where our paperwork is right now.

Mark: According to the DCL website final payment for cat 1 - 3 is due 90 days prior to sail date and for cat 4 - 12 75 days prior.

As far as Palo, excursions etc. If you are concierge or have the REAS package you can book 105 days prior to sale date, if you are a CC club member (returning cruiser) it's 90 days, and for first time cruiser it's 75 days.

From some of the other boards I have checked out our excursion paperwork (gives descriptions etc) are mail 3 - 4 months prior to sailing. The actual cruise paperwork with boarding passes and luggage tags arrives about 2 weeks prior to sailing.

I checked my online reservation page and I can complete most of my online paperwork on 11/17.

Hope this helps! :goodvibes

Hello All!

I got my cruise "booklet" this week and was disappointed that the St. Croix excursions were not listed so yesterday I checked the web-site and now they are! :cool1: If you guys haven't checked them out yet take a peek.

Lynn

We got our cruise booklet today and I too did the same thing no execursions listed in the booklet so I checked online. Great choice of execursions. I'm doing my research now. Have a great weekend! :) Laurie

Hey Guys!!

I'm on the Feb 28th sailing to St. Croix. I have a favor to ask, if anyone does the St. Croix Mini Boat Excursion could you PM me with how you like it? We're thinking of doing it but I don't want to spend the $160 if it turns out to be a bad excursion.

Really Appreciate it! I can't wait to hear all of your trip reports!! :yay:

WOW! I think this is the quietest cruise meet thread I've ever been on. Where is everyone?????:surfweb:

Hi Mala. This will be our 4th cruise. My DH and myself are disney fanatics. Well actually, I'm the fanatic and he's very easy going and comes along for the ride! How about yourself?:
banana:

HI!
This is our 5th Disney Cruise. Our family is myself, DH Joe, DD(6) Morgan, and DS(4) Beck.
We're actually going on this cruise with our tablemates from our very first cruise! I always laugh when people worry about tablemates (although I do understand some people have had bad luck). We hit it off on the first night. Our DD and their DS became fast friends and we've stayed in contact ever since. But we haven't actually seen them again since they live in Canada and we live in NH. So we planned this cruise to get back together, and now we each have younger sons who are around the same age.

I agree with you. As a rule, my DH and I go on vacation to get away from work and the world. We generally like to keep to ourselves. On our first cruise, we were seated with some lovely ladies. I was leary at first to be seated with strangers, but we looked forward each evening to sharing stories about our day and shore excursions, etc. We still keep in touch occasionally by email and we actually ran into them by sheer luck at Magic Kingdom last year!

Hello All!

Hope everyone is doing great!

Just a tidbit of info I just came across. I have been reading the boards a lot as the cruise gets closer and closer and recently fell upon a board about the immigration process (which sounds like a big pain). Needless to say I was totally excited to find out that we will not have to go through immigration in St. Croix or St. Thomas as they are both part of the USVI. More time to send on the islands :cool1:

Mala- I know what you mean, if you look at the 1/3 and 2/28 sailing their board is over 40 pages long....

Also I guess we need to start planning for the magnet swap and has anyone thought about fish extenders?

As far as the magnet swap goes...when will we get a count of how many need to be made? I would like to try and start on mine early next month since anniversaries, birthdays, and don't forget the holidays are coming up.

Lynn

I hear you. My last cruise was the WB repo Panama Canal cruise and if you didn't check the board every few minutes you'd miss hundreds on pages! I didn't even try to keep up!

So what's this Magnet swap?

I was just thinking... can we ship wine to the ship????

Mala-I did take a peek at that thread. It was crazy huge! I can see what you would mean about missing pages. You would have to live in that thread to keep up! :lmao:

gmark2000 asked if we were interested in doing a magnet swap. From what I understand you can either make or buy magnets to give to your fellow dis'ers. I thought it would be kind of neat considering I have already started on my personalized magnets for the cruise and would love to make some for your guys.

From what I have read in the other threads you can no longer "ship" to the ship (LOL) however, you can bring it on board in your carry on (which is what DH and I will be doing). We live in Jax so we are going to drive down the night before and stay at the Radisson which will give us plenty of time to hit the ABC prior to departure :thumbsup2 I bought a sm carryon and am going to pack it with bubble wrap and load it up with wine, canned soda, and bottled water (I also got a pop up cooler from thermos which is pretty nice).

Don't know where you guys are located, are you driving or flying?

Lynn

We're in New Hampshire. We'll be flying down a few days before to go to WDW and visit the in laws.

Can you bring your own wine to dinner???
