January 3, 2008 3 Night Wonder

Welcome to the meet thread! Maybe things are picking up for this date. :lmao:

I like the "special sale" idea! We got our passport photos yesterday -- I told her we just wanted to be prepared in case we wanted to take a trip abroad sometime on short notice. She looked confused. :confused3 :rotfl:

How are you going to announce the surprise to your kids?

I think we are going to plan to have DD and her friend settled at the theatre while we are at Palo, with a check-in and rendezvous somewhere after the show. I think they can handle that.

Thanks for the welcome! We cant wait to cruise again!!

We are going to wrap a picture of the ship along with their completed passports and let them open it on Christmas morning.

On our 1st cruise we let 2 of the kids, then 11 and 8, go to the movie theater while we took the 6yo to the Golden Mickeys show. We chose a meeting spot and they were prompt and responsible. We will do that again this cruise if they dont want to go to the shows.

While we are at Palo on the last night we will put all 3 kids at the Club and Lab. DS did not dislike it, he was just older than many of the kids. As long as he can play Guitar Hero all night then he will be happy!

Welcome aboard Global Mom and all the GM family.

Thank you!!

Here is a strange question for all you cruising pros.....

We are only bringing 3 small rolling suitcases (1 for me, 1 for daughters, 1 for DH and DS) on this cruise. We drastically overpacked on our first cruise and I know not to do that again! If we are able to carry our own suitcases off the ship on the morning of disembarkation, are we allowed to do that?

It was not fun to have to get it all packed and outside our door at 11pm. I would love to skip that part if I can. Thoughts?

That's a great question, and I will be interested in the answer as well. I waaay overpacked for the last one, and I want to spend as little time as possible unpacking and re-packing this time.

p.s. I may also swipe your idea of wrapping the completed passport for Chrismtas -- thanks for a nifty idea! :flower3: I also bought a Mickey Pirate ornament from Bronner's that I am going to incorporate in some way. It's very cute. http://www.bronners.com/1125041.html pirate:

Just ordered the cute Mickey pirate ornament to wrap with the passports. Thanks for that link!

Hope that someone can shed some light on the luggage issue.

We will have spent 4 days at WDW prior to the cruise and will be in a DVC villa so I can wash clothes and only re-pack what we need for the cruise. Plus we have our car so we can leave the extra luggage in the car while we cruise. After the cruise we go back to WDW for 2 more nights and I can wash things from the cruise in the villa before re-packing to go back home (Georgia). Wow...it is soooo much work to go on vacation! :goodvibes

Alright, we've added another family. Welcome Global Mom. We're a small group right now, but by the time we sail we hopfully will have enough to fill one deck of the ship.:lmao: As far as your questions, I'm no help at all as this is our first cruise. Can't wait to meet you and your family onboard.

Thanks Simzac! We are looking so forward to it. We are headed to WDW this weekend for an 8 day vacation and cant wait. Once we get back from that then I can spend more effort on getting ready for our Dec./Jan. trip. Yea!!

I hope everyone is not getting tired of my countdown, but as the days and weeks roll by, my anticiption keeps growing. Only 12 more weeks til we sail.:cool1: See you all very soon.:goodvibes

Yippee, 12 more weeks! :cool1:

We are going to have a Disney "Bookend" Christmas break -- my folks decided they want to take us to WDW the weekend of 12/22-23 for our family Christmas celebration. :santa: Then we will finish up the break on the Wonder.

Those days in between are going to seem very dull by comparison! :rotfl:

Can one have too much Disney? I am also going to WDW the weekend of Nov. 29 to meet some friends at a convention. :yay:

I am soooooo jealous;)

Hey fellow cruisers!

Have you booked your excursions? Anyone doing the glass bottom boat at CC? We are planning to shop at Nassau and then relax on the ship. Does anyone have a DS age 14? Anyone going to be at WDW before the cruise? We found it cheaper to keep the rental car and pay to park at the port than to pay for the ground transfers. Does anyoneknow what time we can embark and get into our staterooms? Can't wait to meet you all!

Boy my computer was acting up tonight sorry for the double post!

Being first time cruisers, we can't book our excursions til this coming Saturday, 75 days out. We have 2 DS's, ages 17 & 13. They are going to do the wild side at CC. We plan to just do a walking tour at Nassau, non of the excursions there appealed to us. We will be at VBR the 2 nights before we sail. We are also going to park our rental car at the port while we sail. We plan on being at the port by 11am on the day we sail. Not sure when we can start boarding for sure. 11 weeks from tomorrow we get to all meet in person.

My co-worker did that walking tour and really enjoyed it. I was thinking about it, too, but the idea of just veg'ing somewhere is appealing. Maybe I can talk DH into doing the tour with the girls while I book a spa appointment. Or sit on the deck with a book and a mojito. :drinking: :rotfl:

We are also planning to be at the port by 11 as I have heard that sometimes if they clear the ship they let you on early. Vero Beach is nice have you been there before? Will anyone else be at WDW before the cruise?

Our trip this year consists of all Disney firsts for us. Flying into Savannah, staying 2 nights at Hilton Head Island. Then driving down to Vero, spending 2 nights there with the day in between at the space center. Then onto the cruise. If we like any or all of these Disney destinations, I'm sure we will return in the future for longer stays at any of them we like. 11 more weeks, can you believe it:woohoo:

Kennedy Space Center is mucho fun! Make sure you ride the G-Force Trainer! :woohoo: And the Imax movie is great, if it's the same one they showed when I was there (in 3-D, about the International Space Station).

When you go to the Space Center, make sure you allow the entire day. There is so much to see and do there, you won't want to miss any of it. My kids were young when we went there and even they loved it. At Hilton Head there is great golf if you are into that and lots of little shops. It's really pretty there. There is a Tony Roma's to eat at that was awesome.

Thanks for the info on HHI and the space center. I'm a golfer, but no golf on this trip. Going to relax every chance I get, and HHI looks like a great place to do just that. We will have the entire day if need be at the space center, the day before we cruise in fact. I have already bought our entry tickets and tickets for the tour they offer. I got these online from their website. I went to the space center some 40 years ago, so I remember that I went, and that's all. The boys are really looking forward to this.:goodvibes

 I'm on cloud 9:cloud9: Just completed our online checkin forms for the cruise. Also signed the boys up for the Wild Side on CC.:woohoo: Now if I can only get the next 75 days to go by a little faster;)
