January 3, 2008 3 Night Wonder

Well we sail 15 weeks from today. I checked the DCL website recently and all stateroom categories are still available for new passengers to reserve. I just keep wondering how full our ship is going to be.:confused3

Is there some reason we should know about as to why this cruise seems less popular than others?? :confused3

I think it's a great time -- kids are still out of school (at least here), nice way to wind down from the holidays.

We are kicking around the idea of inviting one of DD's friends to join us; sounds like there will still be space.

I'm wondering the same thing. Our boys go back to school the Tuesday after we dock, so this cruise fit our schedule perfectly. And I think the weather should be ideal, not overly hot, but still warm enough to swim at CC. Just kind of a bummer that our thread has one of the lowest responses of all that are listed on the DIS. But for those of us who are cruising, it's going to be a great cruise, right.

heya

im pretty sure this is the cruise my parents just booked so i'll hopefully be seeing you guys pretty soon!!! :cool1:

Welcome aboard.

We did this same cruise last year (or really this year) and it was a great cruise. We had so much fun we decided to do it again this Year (or I guess it will be next year).

Anyway, welcome aboard.

It will be the 3boons (DW, DD 13, and myself). DD 21 is getting married October 6th and moving to Oceanside CA so we aren't counting her in.

We look forward to meeting everyone onboard.

Another week down. 14 more weeks til we sail.:cool1: Won't be long til we can start booking excursions.:woohoo:

What is on everyones wish list for shore excursions?

DD and I did scuba last yr. on Nassau, but don't know what we are doing this yr. Would like to do something that all 3 of us can do.

On our last one, I did the glass bottom boat ride at Nassau with my folks. Can't say that I would recommend that. DH and DD did the catamaran/snorkeling trip. They had fun, but said the snorkeling was not spectacular.

I was toying with the idea of staying onboard in Nassau, but now we are bringing one of DD's friends with us and I feel like we should do some sightseeing with the girls.

Is anyone going to Atlantis?

On Castaway Cay last time, DD and I did the "Adventure Hike and Kayaking" excursion and loved it! It was just the two of us, another couple, and two guides. It was an interesting way to learn about the history and natural features of the island, and the kayaking was fun -- neither of us had done that before. We got to see sharks, swim on an isolated beach -- it felt like we were the only people on the island!

We did not dine at Palo last time, and are considering it for this trip.

For those of you with tweeners/young teens -- what do you do with them while you are at Palo? If we go -- should we try to make a ressie during a show time, and we can get the girls an early dinner and escort them to the show beforehand?

I don't know whether they will feel comfortable hanging out in the teen club. DD's friend won't quite be 13 when we go (one month shy).

Yippee, we are getting closer!! :yay:

Neither of the girls knows about the cruise yet!! The other mom and I are still trying to make it a Christmas surprise. :ssst:

Here is a pic of DD during the swimming part of the hiking/kayaking excursion. Love that water!!

NOW my TA is telling me that we DO need passports for this cruise, despite the fact that the DHS website still says we don't need them until January 28, 2008!!

So now I have to try to get passports for me and DD ASAP, and our young guest will need to have hers renewed. Fortunately DH already has his.

DD is going to "Wonder" why she is getting a passport. :rotfl:

Does everyone have their passports in order besides me??? Hope I didn't lead anyone astray with my earlier post! :guilty: (and where is our "embarrassed" emoticon??).

We have ours.

Good luck we will be pulling for you.

We have all our passports too. Good luck, ours came fairly quickly, I think you still have time. As far as excursions on Nassau, we are just going to do a walking tour we found recommended on the DIS cruise board. Want to stay close to the ship so we can go back on board for lunch, no sense in paying for lunch when it's included on the ship. At CC, the 2 boys are going to do the wild side for teens activity while DW and myself relax on the adult beach. Only 16 days til we can sign up the boys for wild side and complete all of our info on line for the cruise. Only 13 more weeks til we sail.

Well I now have a Palo ressie.

Sure hope I get a passport so I don't miss my Palo ressie! :lmao:

Simzac, have your boys done the Wild Side before? DD will be old enough for the teen activities; her friend will be one month shy of her 13th birthday but I'm hoping they will let her participate in the teen stuff if they both want to.

Since this is our first cruise, the answer is no. But this seemed like a great thing for teens, and they both said absolutely yes when I asked them. As far as your DD friend being one month shy, I don't know how strict they are on this stuff. I would think being that close they would let her participate. JMO

Just checked the DCL website again. Cat 5 thru 11 are still available. Maybe an upgrade is in our future.:rolleyes1

.

We just decided last week to do this cruise and are giving it to DD6, DD9, and DS12 for a Christmas surprise. We also had to scurry around to get passports and the kids wondered what was up.

I told them that the goverment was doing a "special sale" on passports and we had to get them done right away to be able to get the good price. ;) Also told them that it would be a good thing to have them in case we decided to cruise again next year.

We are so exicted!!! We did the 3 night this past March and cant wait to do it again since we now we feel like we actually know what to do and what to expect.

We are a little worried about our DS12 b/c he is quite mature for the kids programs but not quite old enough for the teen club. At WDW we would let him stay in our DVC villa while we dined in the same resort but dont think that we would let him hang out in the stateroom alone. :confused3

Welcome to the meet thread! Maybe things are picking up for this date. :lmao:

I like the "special sale" idea! We got our passport photos yesterday -- I told her we just wanted to be prepared in case we wanted to take a trip abroad sometime on short notice. She looked confused. :confused3 :rotfl:

How are you going to announce the surprise to your kids?

I think we are going to plan to have DD and her friend settled at the theatre while we are at Palo, with a check-in and rendezvous somewhere after the show. I think they can handle that.
