January 29, 2011 - 7 Day Eastern - WOOHOO!!

Calling all the experts for some help......

We will be driving a rental car and will need to return it.....so the questions are:

- would it be better to drop the car off first or drop the people at the cruise first?
- If I am dropped off first with the kids and my Better Half goes to drop off the car - can I go and get us all checked in and get our boarding number?
- do I have to take all my luggage into the terminal or does someway take it outside? Do I need to tip this person?
- how far is the drive from the terminal to Budget?

Have your husband drop you, the kids, and the luggage off.. he needs to keep one picture ID with him (driver's license) - you can actually take his passport with you to early check in

You actually pull around the back, the porter takes your luggage and you are free to just walk in and check in - REMEMBER to have your passports/etc, tickets, and your 'DAY BAG" with you (i.e. things you might want to have between lunch and when your luggage arrives)... i usually tip $2=3/bag

Husband should drive to budget place - its about 1.5 mi south on A1A (just past the jungle village on the right, the 'thai thai' restaurant on the left) - he can either 1) ride their shuttle back (no prob), or hail a cab... then meet you upstairs

You should take kids/check-in, get a boarding number - some/most of the time they will let you check in without him being there if you have all the info/passport/etc - sometimes not, since they changed it to where you take your 'picture' with the keycard at the same time.. sometimes they will let you totally check in and get his picture later

After that, sit around, enjoy and wait.. importance of day bag and something for the kids to do can not be overstressed (also swimsuits if u decide to swim early too)

(This is actually exactly what we're doing too - maybe i'll see him at the Budget.. haha)

Thanks Lori! I saw that this morning too. Poor souls. :littleangel:

Someone said we could take a detour onto the 520 instead, which takes you over the Merritt Island Causeway instead. Looks right to me. Maybe Matt/Tiffany can comment since they are in FLA and may know better than a Canuck just reading a comment and using a map?

Joelle

The bypass is definetly '1 south' to 520 east to A1A north.. to get the terminal if 528 is still closed

If you haven't put snelson's phone # in your cell yet, please do so - she's here on DIS, is a great lady who lives there in port canaveral/owns a business there and has been invaluable to DIS people in case anything has ever 'come up' in that area

See this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1520273

Her number is at the bottom

Well I am hoping the Tiffany Town car people know the route to take so we don't have to worry about getting there too late. But since we were planning on being early anyway it won't be too bad.

I have been going though my dd stuff today to take. Man she really grow since the summer. I have half her clothes in the small box to go to charity. I have just enough to get us though. Only thing I need to get tomorrow is a swim suit and cover up for her.

She on the other hands wants to take every pair of shoes she has , which is a lot, more then me. Her backpack is going to be loaded down with stuff. I told I have to finish packing before she can fill it just incase I need the room.

Wonder if I still have time to do this. My FE's are taking up a whole lot more room than I thought. How did you do it???

Canada Post Expedited Parcel.... go to the FAQ's at the beginning of the forum and check out Shipping a Box. It goes to the Disney Cruise Warehouse and Housekeeping puts it in your room.

Not sure if you still have enough time but GOOD LUCK!!

FYI - I read on the helpful information sticky on the main forum that you can get 10% off at Fishlips or Grills if you have a local hotel key card. We are staying at Residence Inn and were planning to go to Grills, so we will be attempting to get the 10% off. Just wanted to share in case anyone else is headed that way.

We are a group of 10. In St. Maarten we are going on the Random Wind, a sailboat charter. In St. Thomas, we are going to Coral World. DD10 is doing the Turtle Encounter and DD5 is doing the Sea Lion Encounter. There is lots to do and see at Coral World. These are both non-Disney excursions but rank highly on Trip Advisor. (We have done non-Disney excursions on the past 2 cruises with no problems whatsoever).

We (my family only) leave Wed a.m. for Rochester & fly to Orlando at 1 p.m. We will meet up with the rest of the group Saturday morning at MCO and head out to Port Canaveral. I am not worried about the traffic - I figure our driver will know where he is going. (He is driving us on Wed to our hotel as well).

Good luck packing, everyone!!

Cheers,
Lisa

Thanks a ton for the great info! Have heard great things about both places & though of eating at one of them Friday night.

Happy Thoughts....in one week we'll be being rocked to sleep by the boat! (at least I will be ... some others may be rocked to sleep by partying to hard... :rotfl:)

Good night all!

We are as packed as we can be, the rest needs to wait until the night before we leave. We are getting MORE SNOW today *sigh* I'm tired of snow!

Mine took close to half of our small suitecase but.....this means it will be replaced by the loot we will potentially buy! The FE suitcase holds the fe's, my 2 dd's princess dresses, sandbuckets for them at the pool and beach, and bathing suits.

So, today is the big day! We are leaving this morning! All packed, and ready to go! I guess this means I will see you in the terminal! Have a great week!

Probably missed ya before you left. Lucky you!!! :cheer2: Have a safe trip and see you in Florida at the port. Look for the green bracelets. Counting the hours :woohoo:

Managed to get all of ours in my DD8 suitcase. Good thing her clothes are small. LOL

The boards :disrocks: are real quiet these past couple of days. I am sure that everyone is running around like crazy doing the last minute stuff organized. I know I am working on the packing, ironing, shopping, and stuff that has to be arranged at home. Hope I have time to work this week :lmao: Feeling like everything is control though :thumbsup2

Six more sleeps :dance3::dance3::dance3:

This is a email that one of my husbands friends just sent

Oh so true:lmao:

Just remember.............When preparing to travel

Lay out all of your clothes and all of your cash

does anyone know if they have a formal night on the 3 night cruises? thought about not doin the formal night on this cruise if they do indeed have it on the 3 night as we will be doing a 3 night in Sept. our grandson would like to do a formal night but we could wait till the next cruise and not worry about packing the extra clothes for it on this one.
