Making your own lanyards! How cool & how do you do that?

Here is the one that I made. I bought Disney themed ribbon at Wal-Mart. I do not sew, so I used the heat bond. I folded it in half and bonded it back to back to make it stronger. I also bought some findings. I attached a ring to the end with the fold (I left a little space when I bonded it). Then I folded the other end over the ring and bonded the ribbon in the front and the back so that it would hold. I'm not sure that this makes sense...but here is the finished product (hopefully this works- first time adding a photo).

We aren't leaving until sometime Saturday, February 12th.

We are actually leaving the 6th at 6pm - don't get home til the 7th...sigh...

For us it is Diana (Mom - 50), Ken (Dad - 49) & Jenni (Daughter - 27). This is for Ken's 50th birthday. Last year we went to Disney World for Mom's 50th

My DH (this is Jenni) is also military & is currently in Hawaii because he had to go ahead of me to be at his next duty station in time. So unfortunately he won't be on this cruise

And we just found out last week that he's deploying this April. This is his second deployment in less than 2 years. So we were in shock upon hearing that he'd be deploying again so soon. Especially since we were expecting him to be home for another year yet since the unit he was supposed to go to is already deployed. Of course that didn't happen & he has been assigned to this unit instead. I hate not having any control over this, but it's the Army & there's nothing you can do

Needless to say, I'm very stressed & need this vacation to take my mind off of the fact that he'll be gone for another year. But at the same time I feel very guilty about going on a cruise when I should be in Hawaii with him, spending as much time with him as possible. I'll be leaving right from the cruise to fly out to be with him though.

So glad you will be able to join us. While you are on the cruise, your DH won't have to worry about all of the late night hours he has to put in to adjust to his new assignment, new location, and get ready to deploy. He can just focus on his job and know you are having fun so he won't feel guilty. Then when you are able to join him in Hawaii, he will be more settled in and you all will have a little more quality time together!!!

As someone who was active duty Army myself for 12 years and has been an Army wife for 15 (and dated 3 before that) trust me when I say that this really will give him a lot of time to just worry about work and not feel guilty about you sitting at home in a new place surrounded by boxes while he isn't there to help!! While it stinks being apart, it will be good for you to have a nice, pampering vacation so you are more relaxed to deal with the upcoming stress and for him to have this focus time to get really settled into his new job so he isn't so stressed about the deployment!!!

WE are looking forward to meeting you!! My SIL was glad she isn't the only one not part of a couple in our group!
