January 29, 2011 - 7 Day Eastern - WOOHOO!!

Smarties? Mars Bar? Bounty? I am just thinking of some? Please throw some out there if you know...but schmij let me know what you and Tiffany like...I am a huge chocoholic.....:scared1::cloud9:

We have Smarites but not the hard candy you call Smarties. They are like M&M only bigger and come in really bright colours (love using them to decorate my gingerbread men). Our Kit Kats are way better too , we use a different chocolate. Aero chocolate bars are only over here too. I think. These are what I usually I bring with me when I know I am meeting up with Disers at WDW.

But I think we have alot of Canadians going so that is not special to them...not doing the FE though.

Yeah someone sent me a pic of the smarties from the US and they look like our rockets.....yummy halloween candies.

US banks are closed tomorrow too, and I went ahead and took Friday off for good measure! :)

I was going to take Friday off but its so busy this time of year that I figured I better just work!

Enjoy your nice long weekend

I have only cruised once before with kids, and found that tour groups with a toddler or baby are not super fun, so I am planning on doing things on our own.

At St. maarten, there is a beach right near the shopping. You take the water taxi ($6 pp for the entire day) and then you can do the beach and shop. Here is a link with some
Great Bay beach - http://www.sint-maarten.net/St-Maarten-Beaches/GreatBay.html

If my kids are in a good mood, I am probably going to venture to the French side to this beach at Le Galion. http://www.sint-maarten.net/St-Maarten-Beaches/LeGalion.html. We will take a taxi for our party rather than do the Disney beach (plus they go to Orient Beach which I am not interested in). I know that my DD (4 1/2) will not be able to snorkel or go in a boat at castaway cay and the water may be too cold for the baby, so this might be the only chance they have to do those things. Plus, the other side of the beach has big waves and surfers which my 8 year old will love. If we do this, we will leave first thing in the morning after docking, spend a few hours on the beach, then head back to the ship for a late lunch and probably go shopping (without kids!).

At St. Thomas I think I am going to just go with hubby by ferry to the French side. It kind of depends upon DS(8) school work. He is in a program that requires lots of projects so depending upon where he stands for projects and homework, I may turn this day into an educational day and take him on the St. John excursion that tours the sugar plantation and he can do a project on the sugar trade. I am really hoping to just have a day with DH though :cool1:

Thanks a ton for the info & the sites! I will have fun checking them out. :worship:

We have mars and 3 musketeers. Sometimes i see cookies & cream hersheys but i remember this more from convenience stores in the late 80's or early 90's when hersheys was experimenting with a lot of different flavors. Are kinder eggs legal in canada? You can't bring those into the us legally :(

Why can't you bring in Kinder eggs? We have them , even big one at Christmas and Easter.

Bounty is like Mounds.

According to the customs and border protection web site, they have been banned because the food and drug administration determined the toys inside the eggs are a choking hazard.

Yup... which stinks because they are delicious and the toys are fun! So I have only had 2 of these treats in my life!

It is a pretty recent ban too. My husband used to go to Russia every couple of months and always brought those back for the kids. He was shocked when they confiscated them on one of his trips. When I went to Germany last time, I bought them but only declare "candy" on my form and they didn't ask so i got them through!! Couldn't believe I was smuggling kinder eggs!!

My kids love Kinder Eggs.....they can get them all year long.

Thats interesting - I thought you were just joking!

That is crazy....there must be a warning on the outside paper that says not for kids under 3 like any other toy. Does that mean you don't get the cute Disney type egg with the princess and Pooh/friends in them either.

We get kinder all year round they just bring out big one with bigger toys inside at Christmas and Easter. They are almost the size of a football, a little smaller.

All this talk about candy is making me hungry! I have never had a kinder egg but have heard how good they are. We are about 100 miles away from the Canadian border and always had to bring back Ketchup Chips!

Well, My mom has decided to join us, so it has been crazy trying to get her a room and move one of my kids with her so she was not paying the single rate. I think we got everything done but wish they still had some cat 11's left, since moving our third person in a room is going to cost more money...

Wow, haven't been on here in a while, better keep myself updated!!

I am planning on bringing some yummy canadian candy for all of you to enjoy...smarties are the best!!

Cannot wait for January 23rd - when we officially leave for our disney adventure! Looking out my window with the snow and the cold makes me wish it was closer....

So I am trying to figure out my shore excursions. Has anyone had luck with booking tours not through dcl?
