January 28, 2012-do you believe in MAGIC?

I haven't been on here since March, I forgot I had a membership actually  And then I googled something and came across this board.

This is my family's FIRST EVER Disney vacation!! I am so excited! DH and I have cruised with other lines before, but our three kids (ds10, dd almost 8 and ds 6) have never. They don't even know they are going on the cruise. They just think they are going to Florida on a vacation. My parents are going with us and have never cruised either. So it's a big vacation for us all! I can hardly wait! Anyways, thought I would pop in and say hi!! And safe travels to us all!

My husband and I just spent all evening making some of our FE gifts! I am not crafy but I was pretty proud of my idea! Can't wait to share it with everyone in 24 DAYS!!!:yay:

Hello Everybody! I am getting so excited about the cruise! It's all I think about. Of course, I am home recovering from surgery, so I have a alot of time on my hands.

It also gives me the motivation that I need to be getting around well enough to go on the trip! I sure hope that I can go... It will be so disappointing to my 5 year old if we have to cancel. But, I must say that I think I am getting around pretty good. Still having to take my pain meds, but it's only been a week since surgery right now:)

I may go book our shore excursion for St. Thomas today. We are doing the Doubloon Pirate ship. Anyone else doing this one?

Are we having a group meet on the ship? All the other dis friends that I have meet in the past always got together once onboard and got to meet each other face to face. I didn't go back and read to see if we were already doing this or not. So has it been discussed?

Ok..I know the cabins have a "cooling box" for beverages, but I can't remember if it will actually be cold enough for baby formula. Does anyone know? I may have to do some searching on the boards to find out.

I am starting to get a little nervous about the packing for my 6 month old... I will have to bring formula, bottles, bottle warmer, sterlizer, baby food..a lot of baby food... and the list just kepts getting bigger. What's a girl to do???? and I will also have to bring him plenty of clothes.

Anyway, I guess I will go start doing a little research!

What is Bernards?

Bernards Tours, St Maarten-they have an island tour for $40pp, that will take you around the island to various spots and make a beach stop. I booked them through their website and they do not require a deposit. They are located close to the dock, I think our tour is scheduled for 9:00. It looks like a lot of fun and they come highly recommended from people on the dis.

We wish you a speedy recovery and hope that everything goes well in the next couple of weeks! We are doing Doubloon, we did it a couple of years ago and had a great time!
As for the cooling box, I am not sure if it is cold enough or not, but you can request a bucket of ice to keep in the room. When we went with our DS8, then 9 months, we took the powdered formula and made it up as we needed it, which was great on excursions. When I packed for him, we had to drive down to accomodate all of the stuff I took with us. The porters about died when they took our stuff! I packed enough for 3 weeks! We had diapers, formula, clothes and all kinds of "what if" stuff. It was funny to watch! On the clothes end, just remember that there are washers on board, a fact that I forgot when I packed for my son and my DH reminded me of when we tried to get everything into our cabin. Although, now, he has to agree that a cruise was one of the easier vacations that we took a baby on. DS had a great time, he loved the characters and my favorite, eating sand at CC. Good luck!

On the semi formal night, DH will wear some darks pants and a bottom up shirt, maybe a tie...but I doubt it.

DH will wear his jacket, dress shirt and tie.

FE gift question:

One of the items I'd been planning on giving out to everyone is a sauce. I just realized it comes in a 4 oz bottle and TSA requirements are 3 oz for carry ons. Do y'all think I'm ok in going ahead with the 4 oz? I'm assuming most people will check their bags for such a long cruise so the bottle should be fine (it's a plastic bottle). Or should I scratch the sauce and come up with something else? I really don't want to scratch the sauce! It's so late in the game now and there's a great story behind the sauce. But be honest with me, I don't want anyone getting harassed by TSA because of me!

We will be bringing a carryon and checking a bag. A plastic bottle should be fine, just put them in the middle, maybe in plastic ziploc in case of spill. Harassed by TSA, imagine that, they frisked my DS7 at CLT in the spring, he was horrified! Don't scratch the sauce, I think it is a great idea!

I have just sent out floor plans to help with FE delivery. I know they are not "professional" quality, but hopefully they will be helpful. Please let me know if you did not receive yours; I sent them to the addresses listed on the FE document.

Regarding a DIS meet: I have read in several threads that a great place and time to meet is at 3:00 on the day of embarking, in the Promenade Lounge on Deck 3. So, what do you guys think?

Thank you for organizing the FE list and doing floor plans, it makes it a lot easier. We got turned around on the Wonder doing our deliveries and it took us a lot longer than it should have, although we got a big laugh out of it and had a great time.

The meet time and place sounds good to me. We should be there before that time, as we will be taking the DCL transport from the resort. We look forward to meeting everyone!

Is Doubloon through Disney or someone else? We did the magic in 2005 and I vaguely remember booking a priate ship excursion...but we were re-routed due to a hurrican so never got to do it.

Angie Thank You for all your work with the FE exchange! I, along with everyone else I'm sure, totally appreciate it! 3 sounds good to me!

I have more questions about the FE delivery...how many gifts/trinkets are we supposed to do? And how often do we do it? Do we deliver in a certain order or randomly? Everyday? Sorry for all the questions!

Also, we are good with 3pm in the Promenade Lounge on Deck 3:)

I will probably be able to meet up at 3pm. My DH will probably occupy DS3 at the pool. We are headed down the 20th for a week at WDW prior to the cruise. It is one of the longest vacations we have taken but I am excited! I saw a couple of others are also headed down early. I am getting so anxious with trying to remember everything that we need to pack and the FE gifts. My DH just arrived home from Afghanistan so this week we have been stuck in a hotel in KY with limited internet and it is really cramping my ability to plan last minute things lol! Hope everyone's New Year has been as great as ours so far. Can't wait!

That time and place sounds fine to me. It'll be nice to meet all the people we've been talking to for months. Only 3 weeks to go now!!!! :cool1::goodvibes:woohoo:

I think that they are suggestions, but I may be wrong on that.

:mickeyjumWe leave in 21 days for POR then to PC:mickeyjum

I called Disney and they said children must follow the ages listed. I even tried to register for one online and could not:( Oh well..I thoguht the Doubloon would be fun.

I did find the information for a pirate ship we were going to do in 2005 and they are still around. It is in St Maarten...Lord Sheffield Tall Ship Adventures. Anyone hear of them or used them before?

It is up to you how much you want to give. Some people do 1 thing for each person, some do 1 per room, some do several things for the people in each stateroom to share. Some people do gifts for every day but I think most only give on one day. I may do gifts on two days depending on how what I bought works out. We didn't do a schedule for who would deliver when and that is fine with me. I would just say make sure they are all passed out but midday on our last full day so everyone can pack.

Speaking of FE gifts what I had planned did NOT work at all! I was a little too ambitious and there was NO way I was going to get them all done! Way more time consuming than I thought. :headache: So today I made a run to Michaels and I got something to make that I really like.

I also got an amazing dress and shoes on sale for formal night. We are having dinner at Victoria and Albert's our first night at WDW and it will be perfect for for that night as well so double score!
