JANUARY 27, 2007 "PAL MICKEY" Western Magic ROLL CALL

Welcome NAB!! We don't have a Pal Mickey either just 2 kids (that's enough for me to dress).:rotfl2: Lots of friendly people on this board - we are going down the day before as well. Staying at the MCO Hyatt but unfortunately we don't get in until 7 p.m. or we'd be heading to Downtown Disney like some of the others.

Made some lime green luggage tags today (picked up the ears at Home Depot for free and had them laminated at Staples for $1.29 for 8 of them) - my DH thinks I have lost it. The thought of this cruise is actually the only thing that is currently keeping me sane!!

We are flying out of Buffalo we are East of Toronto.

Hope the weather stays nice to drive on Friday. Our flight doesn't go out until 7:30 arriving at 9:30.

I have two kids too, that I am making go half a day to school on Friday:rotfl2:

But we haven't told them and are not going to tell them until we are on the way to the airport. Dont' think we can make it all the way to the airport.

One son - age 9 and one daughter 6.

I have a mickey sticker on that date I put there months before. Then we decided we would surprise them. Hubby told them the sticker is the day we are going to McDonald's for lunch. My daughter was pretty happy just about that. :rotfl2: And the son is happy to get out of school for lunch.

Welcome! We have a Pal Mickey but no clothes for him except the ones he came with so as you can see anything goes - some people have lots of clothes for theirs, some have no clothes and others don't have one. I would love to borrow some clothes from anyone who will let me sign them out. I have green ribbon on our suitcases but no other lime green. Are we allowed to make signs on the computer and tape them to our doors. I can make a sign if that is the case. Please advise as this is my first DCL cruise. Thanks!

speakupjc - I'm sure my Pal can find a little something for yours to wear to have something other than what he came in. That goes for anyone here with a Pal Mickey who has no clothes - LOL. I'm not sure if I will put his clothes in my carry-on, but try to catch me in the cruise terminal anyway (I should be easy to spot) so we can meet. If you don't find me, you can track me down later by calling stateroom 7106.

As for taping signs to the door, it can work sometimes but may make a mess of the metal door, depending on the tape. The stateroom host has to clean that off after we debark. Of course, with magnetic signs a frequent problem is theft unless it is so personalized that no one wants it. I guess it's kids but I've had several signs mysteriously disappear in the past, as well as some nice character magnets from WDW. :sad1:

DisGal520 and NAB, thanks for the feedback on the credit card stuff.

NAB, ditto on all the Welcome Aboard responses.

4warmwishers, thanks for the movie info. I was wondering about that.

OK, one other question, at least for now anyway, DW was concerned that the DCL two bag limit per person includes carry-on luggage. I told her I thought it only includes luggage checked at the airport. Is that right? I'm not sure, but I think our current plans are to check two upright bags and one garment bag total. In addition I expect we'll each have a carry-on.

Thanks again.

7 days + a wake-up! Woohooo! :cool1:

Individual airlines vary, but as far as DCL's luggage specs, you are correct - - It is two checked bags and one carry-on bag per person. :)

Still, you will see people with more. The "rules" seem to rarely be enforced.

RE: Bahamas form...:confused3
What did you put for "city where you boarded this plane/boat"? Port Canaveral doesn't fit... did you put Pt. Canaveral?
Sorry for the dumb question! I surely wouldn't want to do it wrong.
TIA

It isn't a dumb question at all. The form is now ridiculous and confusing. :upsidedow

Port Canaveral IS our boarding location, but even "Pt. Canaveral" does not fit in the boxes, and I think "Pt" would actually stand for "Point" while "Prt" would be "Port," right? Any way you do it, it does not fit. My guess is that anything resembling "Port Canaveral" (maybe with some missing vowels?) will do. The people who check the forms as we go in will tell us. Maybe "Port Canav" - ha-ha. The last time I cruised there were enough boxes to hold all the letters. ;)

I am laughing because my kids know about our trip and our flight leaves Richmond at 2:40pm in the afternoon on friday. I am also making them go a half day of school - I am working a half day too. They are so mad at me but I didn't want them to miss another day - besides my son has exams all next week and one is on friday. My DH will work a half day too but from home. So my plan is to work until 11:30, call for my daughter to meet me in my classroom (I work at the elementary). Come home, throw the luggage in the van, have some lunch and then pick up my son at 1pm, he can eat lunch on the way. By then he should be CRAZY with excitement! We will head straight to the airport from his middle school - it only takes 20 minutes or so to get there. I am going to be so excited on Friday, not sure how the students will tolerate me:rotfl:

I was tempted to send my DD6 for a 1/2 a day on Friday as well (we leave for the airport at Noon) but she's good at keeping DD1.5 busy and away from Mom and you can bet that I'll be doing lots of last minute things. Her teacher has already said that she'll have no trouble catching up (thank goodness).

As for the door signs, I got some magnet strips (about 3" long) at Staples and just cut them in half - they are sticky on one side so I just put them on the back of the signs. My signs won't really do anyone else any good since they have our family names on them but I know that signs can get "rearranged"....

Today is packing day for me; I've got to get five suitcases packed - two for me and three for the wife and kids (who fly down Wednesday). I'm flying down tomorrow morning (ugh, taxi is picking me up at 4:45 AM). This may be my last post, but who knows.

I'm not bringing the laptop with me (one less thing to worry about), but I will have some internet/computer access this week to try to catch up on this thread.

Bon voyage, and safe travels to all!

(this time tomorrow, I'll be at the MK!!)

Welcome to all you late arrivals, boy, our cruiser list is getting longer everyday, it seems! We had a door sign on our last cruise and everyone asked where they could get one, they though they were available on-board. It didn't disappear and I hope our new one won't either, it too has all our names on it. We found it fun to walk down the corridors and find all the different signs (there are some very creative thinkers out there)!

A few quick ?, has anyone been on-board lately since they put the new movie screen on deck by the pool? If so, did you go to the movies and how was it?

Also has anyone checked the cabin availability lately, are we sold out? No particular reason I'm asking, just wondering.

By the way it was 26 celcius (79F) in key west yesterday!! :cool2: :sunny:

Hope all you guys and gals who are flying on friday have clear skys and good weather, we want you all to arrive safe and sound and with no delays! :grouphug:

Here is some pixiedust for good luck. pixiedust:

Good decision not to bring your laptop. I am so "bonded" to my computers that cruises are one of the few occasions I get away from them. While sailing I like to forget they even exist. I'll deal with it all when I get home. ;)

To everyone leaving soon: Have a good safe trip and have fun pre-cruise! See you on the Magic if not sooner in the terminal! :wizard:

You guys have a safe trip too - you'll be enjoying that warm weather in no time!! We have the same weather here as you guys do today - bitingly cold.

Take care everyone and happy packing!!

We did something similar a few years ago. We told the kids we were going out to dinner and we might stay overnight in a nearby hotel (that explained the luggage). I don't think they finally believed where we were going until we were picking up the rental car in Orlando.

BTW, you can still go to McDonald's although it would be a REALLY late lunch. There's one in Downtown Disney. :rotfl2:

The screen was there last January when we went, but we never watched movies there. We hardly went to the pool at all. :confused3

Funny you should ask. I had just done exactly that and was coming to the boards to make a report. :thumbsup2

The Gurantee means " that the room you are assigned will be in the stateroom category you book or better."

So there are at least 8 rooms still available for the cruise. Anyone have friends that really want to go too? :rotfl2:

One week from now we'll be in the terminal getting ready to board the Disney Magic.
