JANUARY 27, 2007 "PAL MICKEY" Western Magic ROLL CALL

The standard for the theme nights on the Western itinerary is for Monday to be Formal Night, Tuesday is the Master Chef menu, Wednesday is Pirate Night, Thursday is Semi-Formal night, and Friday is the "'Til We Meet Again" evening. That last evening is kind of a big deal for the servers (farewells and tip night) and in the atrium it is a farewell to the characters. So yes, it is a special evening.

BUT - Keep in mind that the theme nights (except the farewell) can and do sometimes change. I have seen it happen many times. My problem with that is that I prefer to have Formal and Semi-Formal Night in Lumiere's (or Triton's on the Wonder) so I will be most dressed up in their fanciest restaurant. If I get the rotation I want and then they switch the formal night, it does not make me a happy camper.

Although I do not have kids, I do believe that the graduation is also the last night, as you mentioned, but it would not be late.

Early seating with young children you will likely (but nothing is definite) get Animator's, Parrot Cay, Lumiere's (and then repeat). If not then Parrot Cay, Lumiere's, Animator's (and repeat).

I wanted to have a PM outfit under the tree for DW, but it will have to wait. All the local department and craft stores have a limited supply of BB stuff and it is mainly for the larger 12-16" bears. Also, it looks like the BB stuff is seasonal, so it is mostly winter clothing. Correct me if I am wrong, but PM wears the 8-12" bear clothes?
David

FYI,

I was able to find some bear clothing in the 8-12" size at a local craft store, AC Moore. So DW got an outfit for her PM under the tree after all. I got him a yellow visor, sunglasses and a baseball jersey. DW has been showing her PM to everyone she knows.

Hmmmm, the Quick Reply didn't work...

Isn't this exciting?!!! We are now only a month away!!!!!!!!!!!

In no time at all we'll be on the ship and ready to party! party:

Uh...okay I'm not really a party animal ...just wanted to use that graphic :rotfl

The graduation last year was held on Thursday evening - semi formal night because Friday is too hectic with Castaway Cay and trying to pack and all. We decided this time to do Palo dinner on semi-formal night so the kids did not have to dress up twice. We are doing brunch on Key West day at 10am. Honestly, I am not sure if we will do formal night - my whole family HATES dressing up (my dh and I have to for work) so if we skipped it I am sure no one would mind. That being said, I don't care what our dining rotation will be - Parrot Cay was our favorite last year and we were actually there for pirate night which was awesome. pirate:

I love dressing up on the cruise because it is about the only time I do really "dress for dinner," so I get to wear the clothes that otherwise don't get much use. The elegance of the ship (except for the tropical Parrot Cay) inspires me. Also, even the characters are in formal attire on formal night, and I like being photographed with them. :goodvibes

:smickey: party:

Could anyone of you WDW regulars answer this. I have heard there is a store at Downtown Disney that sells replica Disney Castmember name tags like they wear all over Disney. You can buy them there and have your kids name put on them. Could any of you give me a clue if you have seen them and where? I think they would love them!

Sorry I sent this twice by mistake!!

DH gave me a spa treatment for Christmas to be used on our upcoming cruise in January. He's pretty much let me choose whatever I want whenever I want. :thumbsup2

So, I was researching the different options and noticed a few indicate they are not recommended for breastfeeding, such as the Elemis Aroma Spa Ocean Wrap with Half Body Massage. However, there are a few spas that are only available for booking online, so I don't see the extended information for them. Does anyone know if there are breastfeeding restrictions for Body Purifying Villa for One or the Sensory Awakening Villa for One? I'm guessing it has something to do with the full body wrap. I have had a wrap before and love them, but I'm not going to do something that isn't recommended for breastfeeding women.

Thanks!

Kim

If we want to to get Palo brunch reservation, do we do so as soon as we board or is there some special designated time to make the onboard reservation?

David

I am not sure if there is a specific time or not to make ressies.............anyone know the answer to this?? It seems to me someone mentioned 1pm but I can't remember where I seen it at. I'll look in my Passporter for you and see if I can figure it out.

I believe you go to the Rocking D Bar as soon as you board!

You can go as soon as you board to wait in a line outside the door, but they will open the door at a certain time. Usually it is around 1 pm, sometimes later. You should be given that info (on paper) when you check in at the terminal.

Cruising canuck - regarding Cast Member name tags: They are not really replicas of the name tags worn by Cast Members, but they are WDW name tags designed for guests. In addition to one similar to the CM tags, they offer them with characters on them. I believe that World of Disney is the store at DTD which offers the name tags. Go to their room full of pins, jewelry and such. I always get mine at D-MGM Studios at the 5 and Dime (or 5 and 10 - can't recall the name) store. You can also order them but will pay more.

Hi all
Yesterday got my plane reservation info. DCL booked me on two planes going, and two returning. Hate changing planes - but oh well. Just letting you know that these arrangements get me into MCO at 12:43 PM. So by the time I get on the Dis bus and take the hour ride to Canaveral - we're talking after 2:30 PM

So guess all you Floridians will be at the ship way before me. ;) ;)

I'll try not to be too exhausted on the 27th. Getting very excited now that we are :upsidedow under 30 days! :upsidedow

hooray at least you have your flight info. sorry about having to change and layovers.

take a nap on the plane and at airports so hopefully not too exhausted when you arrive at the ship.

start packing, cause we are about ready for take off

Where do you change planes? Atlanta? Bad to have to worry about weather delays at airports this time of year, BUT the good thing is that since DCL handled your plane res, if you are late they will actually hold the ship for awhile if necessary. I've seen them do that a couple of times.

Plane change is in Charlotte, NC. Since these are the flights chosen by DCL, then I'm certain they feel I can make it to the ship on time.

Definitely. No problem unless there is bad weather, even then since you booked through DCL they WILL hold the ship if necessary. They will not do that for those who make their own air arrangements, which is why under those circumstances it is best to arrive the day before the cruise. Also, Charlotte is MUCH better than Atlanta for reliability of flights, due to the volume of air traffic at the latter and frequent weather delays.

We have a pretty good flight schedule, we booked ourselves. We leave Regina, SK @ 7:00 am on the 24th and change planes in Minn. and arrive at MCO @ 2:30 pm. We can get settled and then I think we are heading to DTD for supper and shopping. Plans are to go to Sea World thurs. and then MK on friday. Then we have a town car booked to get us to the port between 10 and 10:30 on Sat. But I am really ready to leave now, I am already truely sick of winter!! :scared1:

. . But I am really ready to leave now, I am already truely sick of winter!! :scared1:
LOL - I'm sure you already know this, but just in case - - Remember that it CAN get very cold here in January and even February, but only temporarily. One day it can be a high of 80+ and the next day only 45 with the low below freezing. It has happened! Of course, that is not what "we" call winter (saying "we" because my other home is in Idaho!), but if the wind kicks up it can chill you to the bone. In other words, you can probably forget the parka but do think lots of layers and a warm jacket just in case. I've seen too many guests freezing in their shorts and t-shirts at WDW, and you wouldn't want to get sick at the start of your cruise. You may get lucky and have nothing but warm weather, but better safe than sorry. ;)

Of course the parks LOVE it when tourists don't bring warm clothes and it gets cold - they sell a TON of sweatshirts! ;)

I also like my flight schedule - I will drive to Taswira's house sometime on Friday! It is nice not to have to fly somewhere first for a change.

Now to just get past this weekend...I'm working at that OTHER park for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day...

THEN I'll be able to say my cruise is later this month!!!:woohoo:
