Might there be a collective interest in creating a "Yahoo" Group page for the Jan 27 DCL cruise?

When we did our cruise last October, another DIS board member created a Yahoo page, and fellow DIS'ers could update info there (photos, etc). It's still up, if anyone wants to see it:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DCL-October-15-cruisers/

It seems pretty straightforward to create one, which I can do.

Not a bad idea if it is restricted to those on this cruise only, to avoid poblems. I did that for a previous cruise. It is quick and easy to create one. The question is, as you asked, are people here interested and would they actively participate?

I did create a forum for this cruise HERE on MySpace, but this is the first time I am mentioning it to anyone other than ThePhantomsGirl (Holly), so we are the only members and no activity yet. It is private membership, to avoid the hoards of false identities and other problems on MySpace. If anyone on this cruise would like to join, please PM me. And in addition to this DIS thread, there is a thread for this cruise on the MagicalDisney Community (a small board that I run). Most people host their photos on free photo hosting sites if they don't have their own website, and link to the photos.

But if enough here would like a Yahoo group for this cruise, I or someone else here could do that. Opinions?

Hey...

I belong to several Yahoo Groups as well as running several and enjoy them quite a bit. I like it as I can have the messages sent through my email OR I can read them on the web.

As long as it was a fairly private group (meaning only our fellow cruisers could join and post) I'd be all for it. I say private because if you don't on Yahoo - you'll get what I call "drive-by" spammers or people who just like to troll. But that is easily avoided. It can be fixed many ways - it can be set so only members can post (BIG MUST), it can be fixed that membership has to be approved, etc., etc.

Hey - we are now officially less than 8 months to our cruise!! :woohoo:

Okay, folks - HERE is a start for a Yahoo Group for this cruise. It is private membership to keep out the spammers and such. Since many here do not use their DIS name as their Yahoo ID and as moderator I will need to approve all memberships, please PM me or post here to let me know your Yahoo ID if you wish to join the group.

FYI: The little Yahoo group has 5 members so far. The MySpace group 2 members. So far no real activity on either. NOTE: Neither is meant to replace this thread. They are just supplemental for those who use Yahoo or MySpace. ;)

Hey it's quiet in here!

Disney has announced it's new "Year of a Million Dreams". Since it starts in October - it'll be going on during our cruise. DCL is listed as being part of this. Can't wait to hear what this will entail. Of course, for me, going on this cruise in the first place is a dream! :)

How is everyone?

I posted the link to the celebration site for that on my MDC board yesterday after receiving it in my "disneytravelagents" news, and I know the DIS must have that somewhere also (haven't had time to look). I think the big thing for DCL will be the Magic doing the Mediterranean cruises. They may have some special shows or deck parties, but I think the European cruises are the foundation of the celebration for DCL.

I would sure like to win that sweepstakes though! - Overnight in the castle - Yaaay!

Not much new here but I must admit I visit the DIS boards every day to see if someone has posted a question that I haven't thought of yet!! :rotfl2: I bought a couple of outfits off the disney site for the kids - cute mickey vacation wear at a great discount. I hope everyone is preparing for a long, hot summer!!

Here in Florida the "long, hot summer" has already begun. Of course, we would rather have that than hurricanes!

Mickey vacation wear is ALWAYS a good thing! :thumbsup2

This is a bit off topic, but I thought it would liven the board up a bit.

I know we've got quite a few Disney Lovers out there. :goodvibes Has anyone seen Peter Pan fabric or crib sheets? I'm pregnant with my fourth child and the baby (a new pirate boy pirate: ) will be sharing a room with my DD3 who LOVES Tinkerbell :tinker: . So, I thought it would be a neat idea to turn their room into Neverland. My little fairy can "live" in Pixie Hollow and my little pirate can "live" in the tree house. So, I've been trying to find Peter Pan sheets for the crib set. I've found Pooh, Mickey & Co, Dumbo, Bambi, Tinkerbell, Princesses, etc, but no Peter Pan. I can't even find Peter Pan wall paper border. So, I've been considering moons & stars, but I haven't quite given up on Peter Pan fabric.

I did find the Disney paints by Baer the other day and they have ideas on room themes. They've got Tinkerbell, but no Peter Pan. Must boys be limited to Mickey Mouse, Buzz Lightyear and Winnie the Pooh?

Maybe I'll find a little Peter Pan outfit for the little one to wear during Pirate night on the cruise. ;-) I guess I don't need a Pal Mickey to carry around, I'll have a Pal Baby to carry around! :rotfl2: I seem to remember Pal Mickey's being available at WDW resort, so we may be able to buy one while we're there, or I can give one to DD3 so she has her own "baby" to take care of during the cruise. She still doesn't know what to think about the new baby coming. I can't help but feel like my other children were more prepared for their younger sibling arrivals. :confused3

There sure don't seem to be many people on this message board. Maybe we'll have the ship to ourselves!?! Yeah, more dessert buffet for me! :bounce:

Does anyone remember if they do any culinary type stuff on the cruise for kids? DD11 has recently decided she wants to be a chef and her goal is to be a chef on the Disney Cruise Line. I told her I would be HAPPY to visit her any time she wanted.

Kim

Pal Mickey can be bought throughout the WDW resort. To ensure you are getting the real thing, that is in fact the best place to purchase him - at the hotel gift shops or in the parks or DTD. However, the current Pal Mickey will not be available after the end of September. A new one is expected, but they may just take away the 50th anniversary medallion from his hand and skip the tux - LOL.

Since I've never had kids, I can't help you with the kids' culinary info. Sorry. popcorn::

Hey - congrats on the new little Pirate boy! A new addition to our cruise if you think about it!! I haven't seen any Peter Pan sheets...but then again I haven't been looking. But if I do run into any I'll make sure I post asap!!

Ha ha - I don't think we'll have the ship to ourselves. Would be nice to have it not be too crowded. (easier to get those Palo Brunch ressies). Chances are it's a combination of not that many DIS'ers are going as well as it's not all that filled up yet.

I keep checking the prices and and they do not appear to be going up. I know my level (deck 7, cat 7) hasn't changed - although there is only one deck 7 of the cat 7's left at this time. I would think when the ship starts filling they start raising the prices. But there is still a little over 7 months left before the cruise.

Congrats on your newest little pirate!! You might want to check out the website fabrics.net to post a request for the fabric. (If the OP doesn't print this address, just PM me). What a cute idea though!! You could also try IKEA (not sure if you have one where you live...) - they have a cool big green leaf canopy that you might be able to incorporate into your decorating scheme. They also have moon & star wall lamps, etc.

I remember seeing on one of the Navigators that there is a cookie making session for the Junior Chefs (not sure of the age group though...). Wouldn't it be great if we are the only ones on the ship - we could ask the captain to stay at Castaway Cay for a couple of extra days :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Happy Father's Day everyone!!

Thanks Christy! I had been focusing so much on sheets and fabric, that I missed the curtains. Assuming the fabric is durable enough, I might be able to make sheets out of the curtains. I did find twin size sheets that happen to match those curtains, so maybe all hope isn't lost after all. ;-)

The leaf canopy is so cute! http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stor...Id=10103&storeId=12&langId=-1&productId=14446

I can just see DD3 in her little Pixie Hollow bed under the leaf canopy, and the baby in a tree house tucked under a leaf... Ideas are starting to flow. :artist: Thanks!

We booked this upcoming cruise while on board this past February so we are CC members.........we also booked an adjoining stateroom for my MIL and FIL - they have never sailed before so are not CC members. We still got the 10% discount and stateroom credit for both rooms.

My question is..............when we go to make our reservations at the 90 day mark will I have to wait to make their(MIL & FIL) reservations at 75 days or will theirs be available at 90 days like ours? I am still hoping that maybe a cat 1 or 2 or a 3 with an adjoining 4 will open and all this will be a mute point BUT if it doesn't happen I want to be ready! THANKS!!

I am starting to think about signage for our doors, we had some cool ones last year. Anyone started on theirs yet? I have plenty of time to think about some creative ideas...........Plus, I always feel better planning or doing something that involves our upcoming cruise :cool1:

Welcome to our Group!!! I don't know the answer about ressies but I'm sure someone on here will.

I've not done door signs yet - but I intend to! In about another week or so we'll be down to the six month mark...getting there!!!!!!!!!!!!!
