We were on the Feb 4 Eastern and had a couple of time choices although I do not remember what they were. We had to inquire at G. Services, it was not advertised in our daily Navigator if I remember correctly. We had ours scheduled for 4pm on Thursday afternoon (on the Eastern) and ended up cancelling because my daughter really wanted to be a part of the DCU Graduation and it was at the very same time. Poor planning on our part! Anyways, we missed it! I am not sure if my 7 year old will be interested this year or not.

One other thing that we missed was the character signing..............what is it and are there a lot of characters? We turned in pillowcases and a photo mat thinking all the characters would sign but we only got Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Chip & Dale. My daughter was a little dissapointed not because the princesses didn't sign but because Pocahontas didn't sign them. My son really would have liked Captn Hook and Mr. Smee. Can you request certain characters? I selected "ALL" on the the little form they give you at Guest Services.

Just as another thought, the Galley Tour was also not "advertised" that I can remember, this is another thing that I did not want to miss but missed because I was waiting for it to be on our Navigator. I will head straight to Guest Services this time to schedule ot for at least myself, my DH will have to fend for himself and the kids too :rotfl: .

As with anything Disney, the days and times are subject to change, but Tea with Wendy on all my cruises has always been in the afternoon. I don't think it is possible to plan your schedule around it in advance. When they announce it, get your (free) tickets immediately, because there is limited availability and they go quickly.

About characters: When you check "all" for characters to sign, that is all of the CLASSIC characters - Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Chip 'n' Dale. They are the standard character "fixtures" on the ship. Everyone else is subject to change. For the princesses you will need to attend the Princess Party or special appearances. Others, like Smee, are also special appearances. They could not possibly have every character onboard sign an item for everyone who requested it, because there are usually around 3,000 guests and children are not the only autograph seekers - hahaha.

DO go to the character signing. I think they list it in the Personal Navigator as an Autograph Party if not actual Character Signing. It should be in the Atrium on deck 3. It's interesting to shoot photos of them all at their signing table from up on Deck 4. :teeth:

I do recall seeing the Galley Tour once listed in the Navigator, but in small print as a side note. Listen to announcements because they will announce it, then you go to Guest Services to sign up. If they will let you sign up immediately upon boarding, that will be great!

We did the galley tour on our eastern cruise when we went in Jan. It was listed in the navagator, I believe twice, two differant days. We dids the one on thursday right after the wine tasting. I believe they are only offered on days at sea.

The Flying Dutchman will be at Castaway Cay during our cruise! Dress your Pal Mickeys to meet Captain Jack Sparrow! :cool1:

This is direct from the Disney Cruise Line website:

Flying Dutchman Pirate Ship

The ghost pirate ship, The Flying Dutchman, from Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest has landed and made Disney's Castaway Cay its new home. Enjoy the view of this magnificent vessel as you walk the path to Castaway Family Beach, or take a water excursion and get an up-close look.

Raised from the ocean floor, with ragged sails and a barnacle encrusted bow, this 175-foot long pirate ghost ship is destined to haunt the open seas for eternity. Stay alert and you may catch a glimpse of the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow on the lookout for the commander of the Flying Dutchman, his new nemesis, Davey Jones.

The Flying Dutchman will remain at Castaway Cay until once again appearing in the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie in 2007.

My kids will be thrilled! We saw Dead Man's Chest Sunday and they loved it!

Yes - I posted that on my MagicalDisney Community board but forgot to post it here. However -notice it says it will be there until the 3rd Pirates film in 2007. Word is that a DCL cruise director recently told passengers that the ship would be there through the end of 2006. If that's the case and they don't change their minds about it, it will not be there when we sail.

I would think if they are going to change their website and announce that it will be there until the the premier of the 3rd Pirates film, that they would have quite a few people upset if they remove it early. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it will still be there. pirate:

True, but they didn't exactly say until the "premiere." The wording was "The Flying Dutchman will remain at Castaway Cay until once again appearing in the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie in 2007."

I read that POTC 3 is still in production, on hiatus until late summer. They may need the ship near the end of filming. Or hopefully they have already shot all its scenes. Who knows? The tentative release date is May 25, 2007. So IF they actually mean the ship will be at CC until the release date, that will be great! It's just that they seemed to leave out specific dates in the press release, and I would rather be happily surprised than expect it and maybe be disappointed. Let's hope for the best though! ;)

Argh! I'm ready to cruise now!!

Maybe it's because of the heat wave that just came to town, but oh I'm so ready to be on that boat. Still have to get through a few more months ...

Yes, the heat sure makes one want to get away. I am SO looking forward to January, both on and before the cruise, because it won't be so miserably hot!

BTW - Saturday I had breakfast at WDW and I visited the DCL info tables at two different hotels. I inquired about the stay of the Flying Dutchman on CC and got two different answers. One told me April 2007 and the other said through the end of 2006. It's my guess that neither really knows, and that even whomever will make the decision has probably not yet set a firm date. Also, if CC happens to get a hurricane this year, do you think they will leave the Flying Dutchman there? Hmmmmm . . .

How many of you have started packing already? :lmao:

I have started packing LOL. Well really the clothes I bought for the cruise are in garment bags, little things like for PM are in the bottom of garment bags.

Since I am moving July 30 I don't want my cruise clothes getting mixed in with my daily regular clothes, so thought hey put them in garment bags. So those are hanging in my closet and will just move into my new closet.

Still shopping for Pal Mickey as he needs a few more things. For me, I am set for clothes just need shoes for formal/semi-formal night.

I am SOOOOO ready for Jan and this cruise. Pal Mickey is even more ready LOL.

Okay, okay, I haven't started packing yet but I did buy a few cruisin outfits online and well, I am watching for Sand Toy sales at Walmart and I do have all my bookmarks for the port excursions. My Passporter is dogeared and I've got a draft itinerary... so I guess you would say that YES, I'm definitely ready to get this party started!! party: And although people like to refer to Canada as the frozen north, we hit 113 degrees F yesterday. It's not the heat, it's the humidity!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Anyone out there subscribe to Disney-related podcasts? I listed to a half dozen or so regularly; a nice range of commentary and coverage about the parks, etc.

The Disney Cruise Line has an official podcast, although its offerings are very infrequent. Today, they just released a short video of the Flying Dutchman at CC. Mostly visual, with a few reactions of guests seeing it.

If you use iTunes, go to the Music Store/podcasts section and do a search on Disney and/or cruise to find it.

I don't think we'll be bringing a Pal Mickey after all. I think I'm going to have my hands full with My Pal (insert new baby's name here). I did add a few outfits I thought would be good for the cruise on my baby registry. :rotfl2: I also bought a set of the Mickey & Friends Waikiki Collection from the Disney Catalog. All 6 of us will match. :rotfl: DH isn't too thrilled, but I couldn't resist the sale.

We'll have to work on a sitting with all of us. Anyone buy the same outfit? We could be DIS extended family. :wave2:

Surely one of you could carry your Pal Mickey aboard. Trust me - It WILL be worth it. In fact, even if you left him in your stateroom most of the time, your room steward is likely to conjure up some pleasant surprises with your Pal. The photo ops alone would make it worth it for some unforgettable (and unique) memories.

The pirate party is a lot of fun! My boys really loved it on our last cruise, seeing pirates everywhere--including Captain Hook and Pirate Mickey was a lot of fun and they liked the fireworks. My boys both wore pirate shirts and jeans both to dinner and the party

Thanks for the info on the party, we were very excited to see the Flying Dutchmen will be on Castaway Cay, the ship looks pretty cool.

I bought the same outfits for myself, DD5 and DDtoddler but I didn't get a shirt for my spouse. Now I'm thinking I should have gotten him one. Of course, by the time the clothing arrived plus shipping, exchange and the flippin' duty, it wasn't such a bargain after all :lmao:

I agree with Taswira - if at ALL possible - bring Pal Mickey!

On the outfits - VERY cute although I wish they had done a woman's shirt. I'm not a dress kind of person except for when I have to dress up such as for formal and semi-formal night. But to just wear a dress around at other times? Yuck! I suppose one could just figure out which size man's shirt to buy...but still I think they should have had the option. Not a biggie in the scheme of things though I guess.

At least we are creeping ever so closer to our sailing date! :cheer2:

Oh my gosh! So we moved from Ohio to Michigan, and I have not checked the boards lately, but I am pages and pages behind! Is it possible to be unsubscribed? I have not got one e-mail stating that there have been new posts. Hmmmm

Anyway, has anyone heard if they are going to have a photo disk on the ship like the parks? When were on the ship in January they said it was coming...

I am back!

Beth

GSCM_DisneyScout - - Great news! The DCL website has REMOVED that line that read, "The Flying Dutchman will remain at Castaway Cay until once again appearing in the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie in 2007." It looks like they realize the number of upset guests they would face if they take away the pirate ship! I know a few people who wrote and complained because they are cruising fall of next year which is after the 3rd film. pirate:

Holly - - I am quite a dress person when cruising! That's about the only place I do ever wear dresses. I am more comfortable wearing casual tropical dresses even just around the ship because I find them to be cooler than slacks or even shorts (air flow, you know? - Hahaha). :bride:

Beth - - Check your User CP to see if this thread is still on your subscription list! I don't know if they will have the photo disc on the ship. They can put your own digital photos on disc, but I did hear they will not be implementing the PhotoPass system like in the parks because apparently they decided it is not feasible with 3,000 guests and all the photos they shoot. So unless they find a solution, that will not be happening by the time of our cruise.

brady961 & Holly and anyone else who lives here in FL - - I am tentatively planning a pre-cruise Pal Mickey party (patio get-together) at my house on September 30 if anyone wants to come. I say tentative because being the height of hurricane season we of course have to work around the weather. I also hope we can have a mini-meet in Orlando area before the cruise. :sunny:
