January 25, 2009 on the WONDER

No, I think you'll be fine. But it'll probably be cooler than it was in October. I think the temperatures then are on more of an even keel, so it gets cooler slower. In January, it's pretty warm during the day, and then cold at night.

If you're in Orlando, it's going to be "chilly" by Orlando standards. But the cruise is looking like high seventies. It's just best to bring extra warm stuff for being out on deck and inside the boat. And then if the temperatures end up not being as high as claimed, you'll be prepared.

Here is the final FE list: (everyone please make sure I have your correct stateroom)

8502 - tammythetwinsmom - 5 people (DDtwins 7, DD 5) (day 2 - Monday)
8534 - samily - 5 people (DD 11, DS 7, DS 4) (day 4 - Wed.)
8076 - pumba's dad - 4 people (DD 12, DS 14) (day 1 - Sun.)
7070 - jennyh2829 - 3 people (DD 8) (day 2 - Monday)
6550 - melsherard - 4 people (2 DD's 7 & 10) (day 3 - Tues.)
6607 - mintee - 4 people (DDtwins 6) (day 3 - Tues.)
2046 - ganandem - 4 people (DD 7, DS 10) (day 1 - Sun.)

When we sailed last year at the same time it was cool in Orlando the days leading up to our cruise and on embarkation day but once we reached Nassau we were in shorts for the rest of the cruise. It was high 70's, low 80's I believe. The cruise before us though reported it being quite cool as a cold front had come through. We don't tend to be cold so am packing mostly for warm weather with just a few things for cooler weather and keeping my fingers crossed! lol We can always purchase something if we end up needing it.

It is a great day here in Charlotte...with the schools closed for snow...just knowing we will be in the Bahamas by the end of this week is so fantastic!

Heres another random question...when you get on the ship the first day, do you like to eat lunch at the buffet or in the restaurant?

That is a good question Mintee!

Boy oh boy I keep checking the weather and sure hope it stays those temps for us or warmer I keep worrying so but it looks great so far.. we have only a few days.. wahoo:cool1:

I've only done the buffet, but I've heard the selection is the same at Parrot Cay the first day.

If that's true, then I'd say it's whether you want to eat indoors or outdoors. If you want to eat outdoors, the buffet. If you'd rather stay indoors, I'd go to Parrot Cay. Less hustle and bustle.

I don't know Brigette, last time we ate up at the buffet. It was nice to see all the action and explore that deck a little bit. But I will go wherever they direct us!

I'm taking the girls to get pedicures tonight. It will be good to have pretty toes while we are on the cruise!:goodvibes

Melissa
You are a good mommy :thumbsup2
I went and got my pedicure yesterday and the twins were begging to come and I told them that no one would be looking at their feet lol

Anyone ever leave their kids on board while they explore the island? I would like to stop by Senor Frogs, but definitly dont want to take the kids!

Last question, when I go to Palos with hubby, do I have to feed the kids before or will they feed them at the kids club?

Thanks for your answers!!!

I cant wait:beach:

Hi Brigette,
Last time I went, we did not leave the kids on the ship, but I think some people do. The only problem is, you are out of range for the pagers they give you.

And they will feed the kids for you if they are there during mealtime.

We had fun with the pedicures... it was a first for all of us and we had a great time! Definately a special occassion thing though... it cost a little more than I thought it would!

For lunch, we just go where they point us, but last year they directed us up to Beach Blanket and it was rather chaotic in there, I ended up losing my DS3 very briefly. Later on that same cruise, the same thing happened with my DS6 at breakfast there. That has never happened with either of them anywhere before and it happened twice in the same cruise! It was very scary, so I think for my peace of mind we may go to Parrot Cay this time as it isn't so hectic and in a much smaller enclosed area.

Ramon, have a safe trip tomorrow & we will see you on the ship! :wave2:

I just checked in our flights... 16 and 18! Those are the lowest numbers we've gotten in ages. Yay! That means the vacation starts faster.

Every time I check in, it always makes the trip that more real!

Hey here's another quick question.. I haven't gotten our tickets for Disney.. we previously could get them thru the military but no more :( so anyways is it hard to get them at the gate? Should we try to go to some sales booth somewhere or are they not that great? Thanks ..

Everyone with snow be careful! Mintee did the girls have school today? When we lived in NC and it snowed we were closed for a whole week since they don't have snowplows like they do up North! Course I can't remember but we had quite a bit that time for NC i think maybe it was 6 or 7 inches maybe more? I know we were cross country skiing on the roads! :wave2:

LOL! We did not have snow yesterday due to the light dusting we got! We totally would have went to school in that weather when I lived in VA....still stumped at why the cancelled school lol

We ended up getting our tickets at AAAvacations...We bought tickets from Disney World last year...the lines were not too bad, but we always go off season. I think you will not have any problems.

Getting closer....................

I can't believe it's finally here & we leave tomorrow!!! :cheer2:

Wishing everyone safe travels and we will see you Sunday on the ship at 2pm at the Mickey pool!!! :goodvibes

What a great cruise! It was so great to meet all of you and see friendly faces :)

We will definitly be doing a Disney cruise again...once the new ships are here :cool1:

So the bad stuff...we got home and our memory card from our camera went BAD...we lost every picture we took!! To top it off, the one pic we bought from Disney...we left on the ship and they cant find it!! We are soo bummed!!
Then today my daughter Gabby has the stomach bug...so glad she didnt show symptoms on the boat!

How was everyones cruise experience? I hope it was great like ours :)
By the way, you guys blew us away with the fish extender gifts. We were not expecting anything like that! WOW! The kids believe the tinker bell was the one dropping of the gifts and you should have seen their eyes light up whenever there was presents left. You guys are awesome!

I too have to say it was a great cruise with great weather.

Nice to see everyone finally and spend some time chatting. I just wish I was as lucky as Jenn in winning the $2500.00 in Bingo...:guilty:

Hopefully down the road we can share another cruise.

OK, so WOW! We had a great time!!! I really think we are going to have to write a trip report, but here are a couple of highlights...

We were chosen by the youth services team to be the family of the week... it didn't really mean anything until the last night, where we received a bunch of gifts in our stateroom.... hats, shirts, and coloring books. We were blown away!

Also, on pirate night, we were goofing off with a couple of officers who had noticed the girl's tatoos. We thought it would be funny, so we took them some tatoos (just as a joke.) Well, anyways, on the last night of the cruise, we had 2 big stuffed tiggers on the bed with a thank you note from them (Joshua and Lloyd.) That was so sweet!

My girls LOVED the fish extender gifts... everyone was so generous. We had such a great time putting ours together(it helped the time pass by...) THANK YOU all so much!

Brigette, we really enjoyed having lunch with you guys on the island... so sorry you lost all of your pictures! That was all you needed after your car troubles!

We all have to cruise together again real soon! I have post vacation depression...

We are already looking at planning our next vacation lol!

We cant stop talking about our trip..it is going to be hard to go back to work tgomorrow

Anyone else have any disney magic to share?

What a great time! The kids had a super time and we were glad they enjoyed every minute of it! Disney is the perfect vacation for them!

It was great meeting everyone! Although we only ran into a couple of you after that first time! There was sooooo much to do!

Our favorite was at Castaway Cay! we love beaches and that was ultimate!

The girls absolutely loved running back to the room and checking to see if they got any more presents! Thank you !
