January 23, 2010 Sailing with Mickey on the Magic! **The Crusin' DISers**

Wow, I haven't been over here in a while - you guys have been very quiet!

Samily - we're going to Fall River, MA (where I was born and raised!) and my sister lives in Warren, RI. We'll be doing some touristy stuff this time too - Boston, Newport etc. Haven't been home in over 2 years and I can't wait!:yay:
Wow, what a small world! If you're heading to the beaches while you are in Newport, let me know - we're usually there every weekend!

:banana:I just ordered my FE on ebay from LuvtheEars...I am certainly not talented enough to make my own but she does beautiful work. Check it out(Not mine, but what it will look like.)...

Thanks, Luvthe Ears!
She made ours too for our last cruise - she really does nice work! Might have her make another one as we have 2 cabins this cruise and one more kid traveling...

We just returned from a wonderful cruise on the Disney Magic and can't wait to go again

Welcome Dot and Henry! Which cruise did you just do, the eastern or the western?

We did the eastern to Tortola (Disney first time there) It was our 24th cruise, but first on Disney. The shows were fab and the FEs were so much fun.

24, WOW!!! I need to start hanging out with you two :goodvibes How did you like Disney compared to your other cruises?

I guess there are some advantages to being retired. We are by no means rich just frugal
Saved all our lives and are now enjoying life. The internet is really great to find bargains
We always travel inside cabins and look for the best buys; that is why we waited so long for our first Disney cruise We only live 15 mins from Disney and love everything Disney, but this was the first time we saw a FL resident reasonable rate So we jumped on it and had the one of the greatest cruises ever.
We booked this cruise while on board and they gave us a discount and some OBC Woo hoo
We can honestly say we have never had a bad cruise, but Disney is on top for fun and the shows.

Crusing is great when you get older; you can have a few drinks and not worry about how you are going to get home. Don't have to say where do we eat tonight (smiles) We truly enjoyed the character breakfast; even though we had no children in our group all the characters stopped and signed autographs and posed for pics with us. Woo Hoo again
The FE were an extra bonus never did anything like that on a cruise before, and we had great participants from all over the world

Ok I have been running on too long. now Is it January yet?
Ole Ole dot and Harry

Wow, Dot, that's a lot of cruises! :) What other cruiselines have you sailed? My DH and I are trying Princess for the first time in December - any experience with them?

Jen, how is your daughter doing? I know you had a good scare a little bit ago - is she back to her self?

We went on the Caribbean Princess and it was wonderful (not as good as Disney, but cost less)
I would reccommend Princess I have a niece that only travels on Princess She loves to scuba dive and goes often I think she has more cruises than we do. We only do Caribbean cruises she goes all over the world
Every cruise line has something different that attracts us But I think Disney has the best and friendliest fellow cruisers.

Hello Everyone!

Looking forward to meeting everyone in January! :woohoo:

On some previous cruises, we have participated in a Traveling Mickey magnet.

Traveling Mickey is a large Mickey head with magnets on the back so he can stick to our stateroom doors. There is a list of families and their cabin numbers on the back. Mickey will show up on your door sometime during the cruise. When you get the magnet, put a check by your cabin number and add a message before you pass him on. Suggestions: family info, names, where you live, number of magical cruises.....or add a message to share your best “magical moment” from the day. We try to have Mickey visit everyone by noon on Castaway Cay day.

Whoever ends up with Mickey gets to takes him home---PLEASE take a picture and post it on our DIS thread.

After doing this a couple of times, it seems that Mickey has a hard time visiting more then 8 cabins in one 7 night cruise. So I'll make another Mickey if more then eight cabins want to play.

Please PM me or Jen (Our wonderful general organizer! Look at the first thread post for this cruise.) if you are interested in joining the Traveling Mickey group.

Barb, count us in on the traveling Mickey. We love the extra activities on board.

DH and I went over to Port Canaveral today and we saw three cruise ships go by. First the Carnival Sensation, then the RCI Huge Freedom of the seas (our next cruise in Sept), then the Disney Wonder. Everyone on board was waving to all of us locals who came out to wish them Bon Voyage, but only the Disney Wonder acknowledged us by playing "When You wish upon a Star".
A magical moment.
Ole Ole Dot and Harry
PS when we sail in January be sure to look to the starboard side for a little park packed with people and give them a wave. It is only minutes from the dock.

Dot, we're going on the Ruby Princess - I can't wait!

Barb, the traveling Mickey sounds fun, count us in too!

I wonder if there isn't a way to do this so that everyone could have a memento like this... you know, like an autograph book we could each bring and pass around - but to fellow disers instead of the characters?
Then we could all have this wonderful momento of each other.

She is great, thank God, like nothing ever happened...thanks for asking. Kids are amazing, what they are able to endure and bounce right back.

We love Princess, they do a great job. I can't wait to see how DCL compares ;)

Thanks to Barb for starting our Traveling Mickey!

***If anyone else has ideas or wants to head an activity please PM me so we can get it started.***

Anyone have ideas for where and when we can have a M&G? :grouphug:

We have done 2 meet & greets (well, almost) - one cruise we met at the Mickey pool at 2:30 on embarkation day - one of the families in the group had mailed everyone lime green lanyards and lime green Mickey head name tags for everyone prior to the cruise. This way we were able to spot everyone easily throughout the cruise.

On the other cruise, the meet was planned for 3:00 embarkation day on the secret deck on deck 7; however we lost track of time that day and missed that one!

I have also heard of meeting in the Promenade Lounge or up on deck 10 or on the Goofy pool stage...so many choices... :)

So maybee we'll keep the traditional Promenade Lounge at 3PM. It's a good time and seems like a quiet place....and covered in case of icky weather.

Hi all, I'm so looking forward to our cruise. We booked this last December but then it appeared like we might have to cancel. I'm so happy we are able to go! :yay:We were on the Magic in Jan of 2005 and it was the best vacation ever. We've done other budget cruises but Disney does everything better. In 2005, my DD's were 4 and 1. For this cruise they will be 6 & 9. What Fun! Please add us to the list. We would love to do the Fish Extenders and Magnetic Mickey. (sorry Jen - I can't PM yet).
