January 2016 Discount Code Watch

Hi all,

I'm new to the Boards so go easy on me. Am I missing something regarding this Disney Visa discount? It seems like a really good deal. Our familyof four (8 and 6 year old) normally goes during the free dining periods in December but we can't go this year so we pushed our trip back to January. Anyways, long story short I priced the following for my family of four:

January 13-23 Wilderness Lodge + 8 day pass + Disney Dining + Memory Maker = $7,665

When I called Disney for the Stay Play Dine Package, the same package was $6,564.

That seems like a pretty significant discount so I was just hoping if anyone else had gotten any quotes on similiar deals? Just concerned because it seems like most people don't seem to be saving as much as what I was quoted. Any help is much appreciated and thanks in advance!

I haven't had a chance to properly dissect the deal but at a glance it appears like the discount includes 50% off of dining plus additional savings on the room. Your dining savings would be $828 which would mean your savings on the room is about $24 per night (plus savings on tax). Without any additional facts this seems reasonable. The only other thing it could be is make sure they still kept your memory maker on. If they forgot to add that back that could explain the higher total, but otherwise it seems reasonable to me.

Are you seeing that as 50% off of both the adult and kids dining or just the adults. We are looking at the CR, but with the Room Only discount being 15% it may be out of budget. But, if it was 50% off all dining it might offset not having the larger RO discount.

I just noticed that February 29 is not included in the discounted dates. Does anyone have an idea why?

A 24-hour Leap Day party at WDW? Just a guess but I could totally see that being a thing.

(they had one in 2012)

Question about SPD. Can you pay for quick service plan at a moderate hotel instead of regular dining plan?

If it works the same way as last year it would be 50% off of the dining for both adults and kids. Then there is also a room savings on top of that. I hate to commit to any calculations because as I've said in other posts I don't have enough data yet to do the analysis but I will next week. If my assumptions are right for a family of 4 with 2 Disney adults and 2 Disney kids the SPD COULD POSSIBLY be a better deal than a 15% off Room if your room rate is in the $600 per night or less range. HOWEVER the variables from there would be how many nights, weekday vs. weekend nights, how much do you spend to eat each day vs. the dining plan expense, tips on table service meals (if you wouldn't have eaten as many table service meals without the dining plan), etc. etc.

This is not an option - you have to take regular dining. If you have no desire for table service meals your better option here would be to use the room only discount. At that point you also may be better of paying OOP for meals unless you really think QS Dining is a good deal for your family (which it could be depending on eating habits and breakdown of children vs. adults).

If we opted for a value resort is the quick serve option avail there?

I did

I did yester day late jan early feb. Curious we just kind of picked. Which is better caribbean or coronado?

They had standard rooms available for our dates at Coronado. I like CSR better, wife likes CBR better. Check them out online - there are definitely some differences but both are AWESOME properties!

I don't see the AKL pool view rooms listed, all I see are the savanna view rooms at 15%. Are these rooms not available for a discount?
You won't really know until you call Disney, but I take this to mean that standard view or pool view would be discounted up to 25% but savanna view and club level would only be 15%.

Select Deluxe Resorts - up to 25% off
  • exceptions - Beach Club, Contemporary, Grand Floridian and Animal Kingdom Lodge Savanna View and Animal Kingdom Lodge Club Level - up to 15% off

Anyone know is discount for Jan for BWI would include no discounts for weekends?
I am trying to work out cost with discount before I call on Monday,
We would be staying 4 nights checking in on a Sat and checking out on a Wed.
Also do I take the discount off the total room amount, before or after the tax is included?
