January 2016 Discount Code Watch

Anyone know is discount for Jan for BWI would include no discounts for weekends?
I am trying to work out cost with discount before I call on Monday,
We would be staying 4 nights checking in on a Sat and checking out on a Wed.
Also do I take the discount off the total room amount, before or after the tax is included?
The discounts for the deluxe resorts are for every day of the week. It is only the moderate and value resorts that are excluding the weekends for the discount.

If it works the same way as last year it would be 50% off of the dining for both adults and kids. Then there is also a room savings on top of that. I hate to commit to any calculations because as I've said in other posts I don't have enough data yet to do the analysis but I will next week. If my assumptions are right for a family of 4 with 2 Disney adults and 2 Disney kids the SPD COULD POSSIBLY be a better deal than a 15% off Room if your room rate is in the $600 per night or less range. HOWEVER the variables from there would be how many nights, weekday vs. weekend nights, how much do you spend to eat each day vs. the dining plan expense, tips on table service meals (if you wouldn't have eaten as many table service meals without the dining plan), etc. etc.

Thanks for this info! I'll know more on Monday, but I agree it will be close as we have 3 adults and 2 kids.

Here's my question - forgive me for not being super knowledgeable about Disney discounts, this is my first time planning a trip!

We are staying at FW with no dining plan. Am I able to apply any of the SPD to my trip if we add in a dining plan? Or am I excluded entirely from the discount because of where we are staying?

What is FW?
If you are staying on site and add a dining plan. As long as your resort is not excluded or your dates...you would get SPD if you added a dining plan again I do not know what FW stands for though

Don't quote me on this but from my understanding you cannot get dining plan if you are staying in camper or tent but you can if you stay in a cabin. Best thing to do would be call and ask to know for sure.

You can get the dining plan while staying at a campsite; HOWEVER, the campsites are excluded from these discounts.

If you are in a cabin, the discounts are applicable.

I did

I did yester day late jan early feb. Curious we just kind of picked. Which is better caribbean or coronado?

I have stayed at all the mods except Caribbean beach. My family really liked it at CSR so I think it's an excellent choice.

I was considering it for this trip but on the web site there are no rooms at all for my dates so I never thought to ask about it over the phone, may call and ask today just to see

Does anyone know when the call center opens in the morning? I'm just trying to figure out when to start calling on Monday. I want to get up early so I get a good deal but not be too late for work. :)

Okay here is a question some of you might have an answer for. If we go with the SPD option, can we get a park ticket for longer then our room reservation? We are going to be at Disney for 11 nights, however we're only staying on site for 4 nights. Since our 4 nights are at the start I'm thinking of going for SPD for those nights rather then the room discount, but it only works if we can use our tickets after we check out of Disney hotels.

Not sure. I would call Disney directly and ask that question.

I believe you can do that with no problem.

When are the discounts usually available online? Is it after midnight Sunday or not until Monday morning sometime?
I have seen and booked offers online immediately after midnight. I can't guarantee that will happen with the next offer, but I have plans to be awake at midnight Sunday/Monday and stay up until the offer comes out and I can determine if I can get a better deal than I have now for January. Luckily, I am retired and have nothing better to do with my time.

Can you get the discount online if you are already booked? Also am I better to take the room only or SPD if we are staying at AKL?

If you already booked you have 2 options:

1) Call to change your current reservation
2) Book Online then call and cancel your current reservation.

If you see exactly what you want online and are worried it could get gobbled up I'd choose option 2 quite frankly.

You can get the discount applied to an existing reservation if there is availability for that room category and dates at that resort. If there isn't availability then you won't be able to book a new reservation either. I wanted to apply the discount to my existing reservation but couldn't because there wasn't availability for my room category. So I had to change categories but I was able to get 25% off at the WL.

Sometimes a room discount is a better deal at a deluxe and sometimes the SPD plan is better. It all depends on how many people are in the room and what the discount for SPD works out to be. Usually a room discount at a deluxe is a better deal if there are just two people.

They take the discount off the total room amount after the tax is included.

You can figure the room discount cost ahead of time by checking the rack rate on a room only reservation. Disney takes a straight percentage of the final cost. So if the discount is 25% then you just multiply the total cost of the room only reservation and that is your discount. Then go back, add the tickets and the dining plan, get a new total cost, and subtract the 25% discount that you calculated earlier. That will be the cost of a package reservation with a discount. Then call Disney and get a price for the SPD plan. If it is lower then book that. If the room discount is lower than get that. :)
