January 2016 Discount Code Watch

ok I think I have this figured out--our total with taxes and no discount is 1120.50 at the CBR for 6 nites standard view for 2 adults

when the CM got done with everything she said we owed 970.52 but just to make it easy I took the total 1120.50 and times that by 15% and came up with 952.50 so thats only $18 less then getting a flat 15% Im happy with that!!

oops sorry put in awrong amount

Am I the only one really disappointed at the discounts this time???? They weren't nearly as good as last year or the previous years.

No 40% - we are rethinking our upgrade, it really isn't a big enough savings to worry about.

Definitely not as strong this year. They aren't having as much trouble filling the rooms so the discounts keep going down (while the room rates vs. last year go up!). It's rough but what's a disney addict to do?

i plugged in coronado springs for the last week of january, and the orbitz discount was more than $150 ie. not capped.
What Orbitz code are you using? As far as I know, all the current codes have the cap. It would be great if there's one that's not.

Well I couldn't apply the Disney Visa discount to my existing WL reservation because I didn't book the original reservation using the Disney Visa. according to the CM. This surprised me because I know I was able to apply the Disney Visa discount to other reservations. :( So I asked her to check to see if there were any available rooms with the Disney Visa discount that I could book, but there were only bunk bed rooms and club level, which I didn't want.

I'll try again when the discount opens to the general public. Maybe I'll get lucky. Or maybe I'll be able to book the room only bounce back for it next month. Or maybe even an AP discount. I've already bought airfare at a great price so this trip is happening no matter what.

PSA - don't sign up for a Disney Visa just to get the discount early. I wasted 45 min on the phone today to get told that you can't get the credit card # over the phone and you can't get the discount without using the CC to pay the deposit.

I just got a email from Disney Visa Rewards for Stay Play and Dine. It says that the offer becomes available to the general public on September 28. It specifies a 5 night 6 day package for a family of four. Our current reservation is only for 2 but it can't hurt to ask!! Our days are right - 1/19-1/26, and we have the Dining Plan, so I am on hold right now! They said it was unusually high call volume and the wait could be 20 minutes...maybe everyone with this Visa is calling right now!!! :)

This is all from the email:

Cardmember advance booking from 9/24/2015–9/27/2015.
A stay at select Walt Disney World® Resort hotels most nights 12/13/2015–12/19/2015 and 1/2/2016–3/7/2016.
The Disney Quick Service Dining Plan at select Value Resorts and the Disney Dining Plan at select Moderate, Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resorts.1
Walt Disney World® Theme Park tickets—enjoy admission to one Theme Park per day, each day of your ticket.

Offer excludes 3-bedroom villas and campsites, Disney's Art of Animation Resort (The Little Mermaid Standard Rooms), Disney's All-Star Movies Resort, Disney's Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter, Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows (Bungalows), Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort and The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Additional exclusion for Disney's Port Orleans Resort – Riverside for 12/13/15-12/19/15

ETA: We did use our Disney Visa to make the reservations - that's why we have this card. We only use it for Disney vacations.

try another CM wood nymph--I had booked a room a few weeks ago before the discounts--and I didnt use disney visa--( we get a better rewards with the other card) so the CM refunded the other card and let me use the disney for the deposit so I could get the discount

they sure make getting discounts hard work!!!

I can't do the full research until the website releases discounts Monday (see last year's results here http://www.disboards.com/threads/stay-play-dine-calculation.3339097/) HOWEVER...my rough calculation based on pricing out 4 different combinations at moderate resorts this evening has come to this:

40% OFF Dining
FULL PRICE Tickets
$13 OFF per Night

Again - I'm only seeing this for moderate resorts and the sample size is VERY small. Last year when doing the calculation I priced out 50 or more combinations of resorts, adult/kid mixes, ticket lengths, dates, etc.

Anybody else stay put without a discount? We are going in February and are at the LM room at Art of Animation. Could have saved $350 to switch to Pop, or spend $950 more to have a suite at AOA but are staying put.

I don't have the Disney Visa so I'll need to see what Monday brings when I see the general public options still available. But chances are very high that I'll stick with our standard room @ POFQ. Rack rate doesn't seem obscenely high for end of January so if we can't get a discount there, ah well. And I definitely don't want to pay more at another resort just for the sake of getting a discount. We'll also see what the Military Salute brings if/when that discount gets extended.

For our dates 1/31-2/6 POFQ was available with the room only discount - Standard Room. You may be able to save 15% on your weekday nights!

Thanks for letting me know that you were able to apply the Disney Visa discount to a reservation made with a non-Disney card. I plan to call back first thing tomorrow. Hopefully I get a more knowledgeable CM. The one I had didn't seem too experienced.

Exactly!!! We have to get our fix!!!

Well, the Play Stay Dine saves us $441. If I did the math right, that works out to about $32.50 per person per day for the Dining Plan, which is a good deal. If we definitely want the dining plan.

The room only discount was $231.

I changed my FQ room only to POR package and now MDE won't let me see the new reservation, only my ADRs. It tells me that the new reservation is linked to "SUSIE" and check with her, BUT THAT'S ME. My DH and DS are already mad that I changed, and now I can't even see the reservation.

Anyone have a phone number to get this fixed that isn't a long wait on the regular reservation number?

glad I could help wood nymph-

good luck with getting the ressie you want--

Its funny cause it just depends what CM you get--

I keep thinking my total was too high when I switched to SPD and got to looking at my reservation email, for some reason they gave me 10 day tickets for a 8 day trip I doubt it will make much difference but I need to call and get that fixed.
