We looked into buying. For GFV it would have been (based on 160 pts) $900 plus a year for yearly fees, plus the buy in which I think was around $20,000 (don't quote me I don't have the paperwork in front of me). My thought is, unless you're dead set on staying in villas, renting isn't worth it. You get no return on investment (tax deductions) and in terms of the actual buy in, that's 50 years of vacations. All I'm saying is... In my opinion renting isn't worth it because by the time you rent the points you could have paid for the rooms, meal plan and hopper passes. You also don't get the discounts and can't change your reservation. We looked into regular booking and rental and until we are buying in, I will stick with my regular bookings. In theory, if you book using rental points every year or even every other and do that 10 times over your lifetime you've paid for the 50 years of vacations if you bought in. From a financial standpoint, in my opinion, renting points (kind of like renting any real estate) does not make much sense.
Anyway, back to the when do the January discounts come out?!!!! -- impatiently waiting...
