January 2013 Discounts

Someone at Disney is probably having a good laugh at our expense as we try to guess their strategies!! :)

I think the economy is taking a tumble at the moment. Not sure if Disney knows it, but I hope they do and give good discounts. I'm not sure I will take another trip in January if this is how long I have to wait for discounts. I have no clue what to do with our dining reservations or how much to budget for food.

I booked through AAA and already have a discount. Free dining would only save us an extra $200 or so. We knew what we wanted, so we took the discount we had. We can apply FD instead if it comes out. For those waiting, you guys might want to explore that route. The discount will pay for your membership.

I agree with this.
And.....
It seems like they are offering the discounts to foreign travelers now...I wonder why?

International travelers need to plan farther in advance, so they get the deals first.

I am planning a trip for my family and my MIL will be joining us. She'll be getting her own room. Where do I find this intl site and the deals? It would be nice if I could at least get her a discount.

Hmm.... The international Disney site has had FD and RO for a long time now - they also have a lot of discounts for Easter 2013 already.

But I wonder why Disney hasn't released FD dates for Jan/Feb 2013 yet!!! Historically the dates has been released in August.... Maybe it's a sign and that they are not going to have FD for January at all!?

A survey popped up on the web site as I was browsing this morning. Not sure if it will do any good because it seemed to want to know mostly about web site feedback but there were several opportunities to express dissatisfaction with "Special Offers" and I certainly let it be known that this is too late. Hopefully they'll pass the message along.

At this rate folks on the fence won't be able to plan their vacations and at the end of December they'll have to offer some huge incentives to fill rooms they could have filled now.

agreed:confused3
Who can wait until the last minute?!
unless they are swamped with foreign visitors who booked their trips earlier this fall:rotfl2::rotfl:

For the past three years we book FD in January. I always got that email from Dinsey Visa about a day before I would hear the general announcement. Nothing yet:sad2:

I can see them by going to disneyworld.co.uk then clicking on special offers. It took me to here: wdtc.disneyinternational.com/Special-Offers.asp

Maybe they're testing to see if free quick service is acceptable to the international crowd before trying to introduce it here. I certainly hope not, I know quick service wouldn't get me to upgrade to moderate.

Great feedback :thumbsup2

Just spoke to Shaylene in WDW reservations. She said a batch of pin codes were emailed out today, but I didn't get one. She said keep watching the email though. fingers crossed!

Can someone tell me if I have this right? I am a newbie planning my familys first WDW visit. I want to make sure im understanding this discount stuff right!

Our dates are 1/5/13-1/13/13. We are staying at POP, although I am hoping to maybe upgrade to POFQ. We arrive on a Saturday. I have read FD usually starts on a Monday, so I can do two seperate ressies, Sat and Sun with no FD and then Mon-Sun with FD?

Also, Value FD is QS only but you can upgrade to regular FD for a per person fee? Would it be a better deal just to switch to a mod (that is offering FD) rather then paying to upgrade?

Thanks, I just want to make sure I have it down before they release any discounts!

I'm also a newbie :p but I think you're right about the room only from sat-sun and then a package with FD from monday... (If free dining starts that monday) That is what I'm planning to do myself if FD is released for the dates I'm hoping.

For my family it is a better deal to switch from value to mod! It is the price difference from the QSDP to the regular DP you are paying which is $18 as far as I remember. ;)

can someone please expain what a pin code is...thanks!:thumbsup2

PIN code is an individual code that is assigned to you personally (Personal Identification number) that gives you discounts at WDW.

I have gotten them in the mail on a postcard and in an email. (Sadly not recently) People on here have had success just calling and seeing if a code has been asigned to their name.

You have to be in the system somewhere to get these "coupon codes". One way that is rumored to help is order the Disney Free Vacation Guide DVD.

a number that is attached to your name for a certain discount at Disney.
Pins attached to your name are non-transferrable.
I received one in a flyer from Disney earlier this year for the fall promo.
