January 2010. . . Anyone else going???

This is my first post, but I've been reading for a few days and am amazed at all the great info everyone has shared. I'm sure we're way late in the game, but we just learned that we'll be coming in to some $ and have decided to splurge on a Disney Trip for the family. We're tentatively planning our trip for Jan 3-7, but have lots of variables. This will be first trip for DH, DS (11), DS (3) and even though I've been to MK and Epcot a couple of times it will be my first trip in about 15 years and first as a parent doing all the planning. We're also brining my mom along for the vacation and to help with kids.

As of now we're planning to stay in ASMu in a family suite w/ DxDDP. So here are our variables, please feel free to give any recommendations!

1. We'll be driving from Ohio and we haven't decided exactly when to leave. We can leave as early as 1/1, but not sure what to do with the extra time before we can check in or where we should stop.

2. We need to be home by evening of Sat 1/9 so we'll need to figure out when to head home. DS also really wants a day at Universal if we can fit it in.

3. We can't make our reservations until 12/11 due to $ factors so hoping that everything we want will still be available. Does anyone know if we can make ADR's before we have our trip booked?

Really bummed about not being able to take advantage of the 4/3 or 5/2 deal. I'd really like to go the 2nd week of Jan, but due to work conflicts it doesn't look like it will work. Also when checking for CRT breakfast there were no openings for the whole week :(

Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I'm completely Disney obsessed right now. I can't wait!

I would plan to arrive at your resort AsMu as early as possible - check in, get your tickets, leave your bags either in the car or with bell services and then hit the parks! With such a short time there you want to make the most of it!

Yes, you CAN make ADRs. Go ahead and make some! You can always cancel them later if your plans change!

That one would've been booked within 2 days of the 90/180 window opening! You could try for lunch or dinner though! If it is an early pre park opening brekkie you want you would have to kook at Liberty Tree Tavern cause Crystal Palace will be closed!

Just keep asking questions and you WILL get answers! That is why we are here! To help each other out! :goodvibes I did check and there are still Family Suites available but make that Ressie ASAP or you may find your self out of luck!

just wondering if I should continue with the dated ADR list? It appears another poster is posting them as well and I don't want to duplicate too much.

Hey all,

Just wanted to let you know that the $1 spot at Target (which is extremely addicting!) has a ton of Disney stuff currently (at least the stores in IL do, I don’t know if they’re regional?). They have a lot of Princess, Fairies, and even vintage Mickey knick-knacks there, including stickers, bracelets, cups/bowls, notebooks, pens, etc. I bought a bunch of stuff for DD to play with while on the plane and while we’re waiting in line. I’m also planning on making a countdown calendar with peel off stickers when I get home from work. Of course, since DD is only 22 months, this will likely be more for me and DH’s excitement than hers, but oh well! :lmao:

Just thought I’d mention it in case others might be interested!

Joining up very late, we'll be there January 19 - 29 at Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo house. :goodvibes

We're loading up the Van and driving down to Disney from Wisconsin. Leaving early in the day on the 18th (perhaps the 17th depending on weather) and arriving in Orlando the morning of the 19th.

Thank you! I'll be killing you all with questions very soon!

you can make your ADRs within 180 days of the day you will be dining. You do not need a resie number unless you are trying to take advantage of the 180+10. You need to make your ADRs immediately! Also, you may find that the deluxe dining plan is just WAAAAY too much food and maybe a lil bit of a waste of money, but that's just my opinion. We prefer the Basic Dining plan (1TS, 1 QS, and 1 snack per day per person) and we really enjoyed the QSDDP as well. Hope you have a terrific vacation and a safe and uneventful drive down from OH!!!

Sorry I had been keeping up with posting the list so I thought I would post it one more time but you can go ahead. I'll stop posting it :)

You are welcome to do it if you like. It makes no difference to me!
Just wish I could make time go faster!!!

Have you seen this thread? IIRC there is a map with room numbers and very specific info about which areas have bunk bed rooms, etc.
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2319081

We last went in June and checked into AKL late in the evening - we'd made a request but they couldn't honor it b/c it was so full and so late in the day - the room we were assigned ended up being great for reasons that we hadn't considered when we were trying to plan. (I'm such an overplanner - sometimes it works, sometimes not.)
Thanks for the link! I need to spend some time going thru it! We might be able to leave on Friday night, so we can check in earlier on Saturday, so that should definitely help!

:thumbsup2

Thanks I'm going to start on ADR's first thing tomorrow, will be up late pouring through the menus and narrowing down the choices. I think we'll be ok on DxDDP. We like to have appetizers with dinner and hopefully will be able to get ADR's at a couple signatures so somedays will only have 2 sit downs.

Hi, I posted this question in another thread but I thought this one was more appropriate so hopefully I will get an answer. We are going to be in WDW Jan 9-16 and we were wondering/hoping that there would still be Christmas decorations up.

awwe... darn I was hoping to see them again, was to the world the week before christmas in 04. Thank you though

Tonight I sit here with the thought that in sixty days I will be "home"....sitting on my balcony, Stacey singing the praises of WDW in the background, coffee in one hand and a mickey rice krispy treat in the other. Kids snug in the beds, after a long first day of travel and seeing the Magic Kingdom, full of O'Hana dinner and birthday cake, and a big ole smile on my face with joy, magic and love in my heart......Sweet dreams all!

Hi! I very nearly in the middle of Wisconsin. It's roughly 1,200 miles there and should be an interesting drive. My kids will be 7, 4 and 21 months when we hit the road.

I am sure that I'll have lots of "fun" stories to share driving cross country with the boys.
