January 2010. . . Anyone else going???

In my opinion it's because it is 90 days now. It used to be 180 days. I never had one single problem getting exactly what I wanted at 180 days. Why? Well if you think about it, not everyone has their vacation planned 6 months in advance. Therefore not everyone was calling on the same day. Now that it's 90 days, I think most people have their vacation planned at 3 months out. And that means everyone is calling on the same day.

But we'll see. . . This will be my first experience with the 90 day thing. I will let everyone know how it goes!

There's a link on the restaurant board to an announcement that Disney is going back to the 180 days effective Oct 27.

So my question is....I have a room only ressie for now. I'm not changing it into a package until November-ish.
My 90 days for restaurant ressies is Oct 26....so if I call and set my restaurant reservations, and then in November I call to cancel the room only and set the package up.....will my dining ressies be cancelled too?

Does anyone know if the dining ressies are linked to your reservation number? I hope not.

Oh wow I hadn't heard that lately. That's great news! Not for my November trip though! :upsidedow

From what I have been told (by CM's)- no, your room/package ressie is not tied to your ADR's. Yes, they will ask for your ressie number when you make you ADR's, but if you cancel your ressie it will not cancel your ADR's.

Momof2Disneyboys! I want to thank you for everything! Oh! Can I check-in to POFQ and ask them for a free dining can I do that?

I'm finally under the 5 month mark!!!! :cheer2: Now if only I could reach my brother and SIL so I can make my reservations.

Edited to add: I'm also no longer "Earning My Ears" - I'm finally a Mouseketeer! It only took me 3 years! :rotfl:
3 years:eek:...we've got to get you chatting more!

Hello Snowbirds! Remember me? :rotfl:

I just wanted to pop in and say hello! Kim - you are doing a fabulous job with the list and keeping the thread going! :goodvibes

I am at the 3 month mark today for my trip! :woohoo: I am getting very excited!! Sunday is my ADR day. I'm a little worried about the whole 90 day thing, but we'll see what I get. . .

Have a great weekend everyone!
Happy ADR day Shelly- hope it's going well! Thanks for stopping by and saying hello- it's not the same without you. I'm trying my best but I sure am glad Soleil will be doing the ADR list- the "Who's Going" list is work enough! :lmao:

So, here's something to stress out all you (over)planners.....

I think we are going to get our plane tix this weekend. We're flying on miles and want to get that booked ($15 for O'Hare to MCO, not bad). Anyway, I think I may wait to book a hotel until some discounts are announced. :scared1: I know!

Now, we're looking at Swan/Dolphin. Yesterday the lady gave me "teacher rates" that were not so spectacular, but still a discount from what I find online. Today, I called about a different weekend (earlier) and he said teacher rates have not been released. Period. No checking or speculating. But he did think they would be out soon.

I think we'll book that, when rates come out, and if Disney comes out with something better, we'll change resorts.

But we did change weekends. There are no 2-Queen beds at the Swan and no garden view at CR for the last weekend of Jan. That smells like conventions to us. But both are available the weekend before.

Now, pray to the snow gods to be gentle.....(EL-Ni-No...EL-Ni-No--say it with me--gives us milder winters) :worship::worship::worship:
We drive so I'll be crossing my fingers with you...I usually LOVE snow but am really hoping not to have any during the end of January.;)
It's so hard (and not to mention frustrating!)to make plans without knowing if anything better will be coming out. :confused3I'm sticking with room only until I know for sure.

Thanks Kim! You are doing a great job! :thumbsup2

I just wanted to let you all know that I called at 7:00 this morning for my ADR's and had a nearly 20 minute wait to talk to a CM. :scared1: But I ended up getting everything I wanted within an hour of the times I wanted (some much closer). So all in all not too bad!

Good luck to all of you! :wizard:

I'm glad you got those ADR's Shelly! This 90 day thing is taking away from the planning fun. I should have been able to book mine last week if it were still at 180:headache:. I'm not sure if I want to try the online or call though.

While I was holding for 20 minutes I decided to mess around with the online booking and I booked 2 ADR's before the CM ever got to the phone. It was pretty easy and went fairly quick. I would recommend giving it a try. I was worried because the WDW website is always so slow and times out all the time, but I had no problems. And now I am able to retrieve and print all my ADR's online (even the ones I made on the phone). I think I will be doing it online from now on! :thumbsup2

I know I am late, but can I join too?

We will be at POP January 18-28th...

Reason we chose this resort is because it is closest to WWSp. BIL is playing in fastball tournament there and the closer the resort, the less expensive the taxi to bring you home will be:rotfl: (buses do not run as often to wws as they do everywhere else)

We won't be doing the dining plan as my kids do not eat enough to warrant the expense. But we will be doing a character meal....thinking of 1900 park fare for dinner.

Can't wait to read about everyone's plans...there is always great tips to find!:thumbsup2

:yay: Hey all you snow birds!!

Count us in for January! Hotel (BWV GV), flights and phs all bought and paid for. Now we wait......:surfweb: for ADRs.

Well, I hope I'm not jinxing myself here, since this trip has changed so many times...

We're going to be Disney bound (knock wood) Jan 23 to 31. Since we've booked and postponed this trip twice already, I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure these dates stick! My kids have a week of random half days and I can't think of any better way to spend time off in January than at Disney! Haven't decided for sure where we'll be staying yet; I'm leaning towards the Poly if a good discount comes out. Otherwise it'll be AKL or CSR, because two rooms at the Poly without a good discount is more than I'm willing to spend.

That's good to hear- I may just do online then. We're either getting the QSDDP or OOP so we should only have 1-2 table service meals. It shouldn't be too difficult to get just a couple ressies. I like that you can print them:thumbsup2

Never to late to join!!!! :banana:Welcome! I'm debating the DDP too- if anything we'll do the QSDDP- gotta crunch numbers first and I'm too lazy to do that right now. I'll add you ot hte list on the next posting.

We chose the last week of Jan for the same reason. DS will have off school Friday (while we drive) and Monday so he'll only miss Tues-Fri ;)
I LOVE your spreadsheets BTW!!!!:thumbsup2 Thanks for sharing!

We booked everything online for our trip we just got home from (July 25-Aug 1st). The online booking is very simple to use and it's great for checking locations for "better times" etc. We were changing dining reservations three days before the trip because better times at restaurants were opening up due to cancellations. We actually got a reservation at Le Cellier ten days out because of cancellation (it was a good time as well, right around 5:00pm for dinner). It doesn't take much time to look for better dates/times each day before your trip, maybe 10 minutes. We loved it!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks Joni- that's great you got LeCellier so close and at such a great time! I'll definitely be trying the online and I'm sure I'll be obsessively changing up to the last minute!:thumbsup2

So, say they continue the "Celebration" theme in '10, I need an opinion.

If we stay at CR (chances right now are really 50/50), can I put it in my ressie that we are celebrating Christmas and DDs birthday? DDs birthday is 12/21, but this will be her main present. And it will be a Christmas present to ourselves too. Is that wrong since we're looking at going a month after these two events?

I'm not trying to get DD in free. I get that. But people have mentioned some nice "touches" and I thought it wouldn't hurt to mention it. DH already told me not to bother since nothing will happen. (Humbug to him)

That’s the problem; you end up checking for dates and times EVERYDAY!:rotfl:

We changed right up until we left. It sure is handy and easier than calling everyday!;)

IMO Christmas no because its not exactly that special, I mean of course Christmas is special but you celebrate it that day not exactly a month later
but as far as DD's bday definitely mention that! DS's 5th bday is the 26th of December but we're not going to have our big celebration until we get to Disney a week later as i'm sure you're not going all out for DD's bday since you'll be in WDW a month later!

I was browsing one of the other threads and there was discussion about an announcement being made tomorrow...I wonder if it's true, and if it is, I wonder what it will be. Maybe the 2010 theme? I can't imagine they would announce any deals for January yet.:confused3

Hello There - we have booked our first trip to Disney as a family. I have booked 7 nights at Poly and 2 overlapping at AKL (in case the buy4/get3 comes back). We have a 1 bedroom suite/club level at the Poly because it was cheaper than 2 adjoining rooms, but I just called and NO AAA discount.:scared1: So now we play the waiting game for a code/discount.

So, which package is most economical for Disney Newbies? Has anyone done the Deluxe dining and felt as though it was money well spent, or is the regular dining more in line with what you eat?

I hesitate very much with the dining because it's vacation and i dont really want a reservation for dinner every night, that seems like too much thought, oh well, maybe i need to rethink that since this is Disney and I guess this will be a very planned out vacation. Just not what I am used to.

Any thoughts on the dining plans would be very much appreciated! Thanks and sorry my tags don't look nice like everyone else's. I said i was new. :confused3
