As usual, let me know if anything needs to be changed! :goodvibes

We're awful quiet lately!

I think it's time for a QOTD to get us chatting!!!

What's the first thing you do when you arrive at Disney World?

Since we drive, we usually arrive earlier than check in time. So we usually check in and then head right for MK. There's always time for exploring the resort and unpacking later- gotta see that castle to make it official that we're in WDW :goodvibes

Each trip we do something different. Actually we are headed there RIGHT NOW. We are at the airport and when we get checked in we are planning to head straight to MK just to see Wishes!!! Wishes is at 10:00pm and we are probably going to get checked in about 7:30pm. We should be able to make it!

In January when we go we will be arriving earlier in the day and my DSIL will be getting ready to run in the 1/2 marathon so we will probably spend our first day getting the kids used to the resort and then head over to pick up the DSIL's marathon packet.

I am so excited. We got a super great rate at the Poly. We will be there 01/06 to 01/16.

Just went ahead and bit the bullet and turned our room only res for January into a package deal:thumbsup2. The CM I was talking to let me know that they are going to keep the "What will you celebrate" promotion for 2010:woohoo:. For those of you who were wondering.

Hi everyone, just checking in. It's been a while, but at least it's a good news update.

I just had my second set of scans and they (my doctors) said there is roughly a 90% improvement of the cancer. It is still present but my brain is still clear (thank god!) and the areas that had cancer have shown great improvement. They are going to modifying my chemo treatment from my current cocktail which was very strong (and taking its toll on me pretty severely). They are going to put me on just one form of chemo for 9 weeks and hopefully this will at least maintain the cancer in its current state to give my body some time to recover. So... very good news, thanks to everyone for all their well wishes over the last several months.

At least it frees my mind a bit so I can get on with the planning of our January trip! Hubby has been in overdrive already getting things going. And it looks like January hours could be out by the end of the month so that would certainly help.

Everyone have a good holiday weekend, I'll talk to you all soon.;)

Hi Kazoo.. My prayers are with you. I was diagnosed with cancer in Jan and have been going through chemo & radiation throughout the year. I know what you are going through. I am having surgery in Oct. When are you going in Jan?

What's the first thing you do when you arrive at Disney World?

We fly and we live a long way from the airport so we prefer mid-day flights if we can get them, and that gets us to Disney in the late afternoon or early evening. Usually we just have a nice dinner in/near our resort, go for a swim, and rest up to hit the MK bright and early on our first full day.

On our last trip, the only reasonably priced non-stop we could get was early, so we changed it up a bit. We got to Disney around 1pm, checked into our resort, and headed straight for the Magic Kingdom. It was fun to dive right in like that, but made for a very long day.

For January, unfortunately the only non-stop running out of the airport we prefer is a 7am flight (it is Airtran, though, so prone to changes :confused3 ). Needless to say, we'll be spending the night near the airport rather than making the 2hr drive that morning! We'll get to Disney about 11am, and I'm still working on the plan for the day.

Ultimately, it'll depend on where we end up staying and if our room is ready. A nap/swim would be the best choice, but the odds of our room being ready that early aren't great. If we're at the Poly, we'll head over to the MK to kill time while waiting for our room, then head back to the resort for dinner at Kona or Ohana and watching Wishes from the beach. If we're at the BC/YC, we'll swim or play putt-putt and leave the MK for the next day.

I forgot you had a trip now! Please post some updates about your trip for those of us that are still waiting for another 3-4 months!

I'm glad to hear it's still WWYC since it will be DH's bday while we are there! I'm looking forward to helping him spend that Bday Fun Card! ;) Plus they didn't have the decorations up or the photopass borders for WWYC when we went so we never actually got to experience the theme. Everything was still YOAMD :headache:

Although you can't lock any plans in yet, it sounds like you have definitely thought of all your possible options :lmao:

Ya think? :rotfl::rotfl: I'm not usually quite this obsessive, but this trip was originally planned for May, postponed around the 30 day mark until Sept, and postponed again around the 60 day mark to the current set of dates in January (Long story - Moving and travel planning don't mix!). So while the dates are newish and the park hours aren't out yet, most of the planning is done. The budget is a little more flexible, hence the uncertainty about resort choice, but aside from that it is just a matter of popping my already-made plans into the appropriate dates when the Jan hours and show schedules come out.

We take the train down. We arrive in the morning (with Amtrak it's best not to rely on a specific time), check in and get all of our KTTWs. Last year the villa wasn't ready, but no biggie! We just hopped on the boat to DTD and had lunch at Puck Express!! By far the best CS of the trip, and hubby has declared that this is now mandatory! As is dinner at Chefs, although this year I am trying for another night at Epcot to try and do Illuminations at the Rose and Crown patio. Have any of you done that?

Thank you for adding me to the list Monny. I am so looking forward to January.

Our original plan was for the Poly and if the discounts are amazingly good they may still be but in the time being i'm trying to decide between two moderates to save a little $$$$ the CBR pirate rooms (2 boys in a pirate room no brainer right!) or POFQ (are beignets really a good enough reason to stay at a hotel... why yes, yes they are! :rotfl:) and since my TA seems to be a little busy i've got too much time to ponder over the decision than I should! I could definitely use the 1/10 crowds help if you're willing to give some input! :goodvibes

Its (almost-fingers crossed) Official. We are going (granted that my DF can get the time off...) We have the dates,(we originally thought the last week in Feb, I didn't know that was a busy time with Disney) and I am going to be buying the airfare this week...(I got a great deal!!) Our dates are 24th-29th. I have never been to Disney in January, I have been twice in December, two weeks before Christmas, and once in Feb, during valentines day weekend...and one terrible day in June. LOL I am hoping that January will be good, as this is the first time my DF will be going, I am so excited to go with him, I am just waiting for some good deals!!! I want to stay a POP, so hopefully that all goes well!! Just wish me luck! But if you could add me to the list I would be most grateful!!

I'm in! We will be at AKV, Jambo House January 2 through the 9. "We" includes DH, 2 DDs and boyfriends. It will be our first trip that includes more then just the 4 of us and I am a little anxious about traveling with young adults in their 20s. The comando style I have led with in the past may not be as warmly accepted by young men who would rather sleep in and go to ESPN. My attitude is that they had better make efforts to win over the mother of their GF.

We are arriving at 10:45 and hope to be in our rooms by early afternoon. I think we are going to take the first day to explore the resort, Downtown Disney and send the boys off to ESPN.

One thing I would like input on is dining. We are definately not table service diners and have never made ADRs, but I would like to try Boma at least once. (A buffet might be needed for those young men!) Do you think we will need ADRs in early January? I was thinking that with it being a slow time they might not be necessary. If I do need to make them, can someone give me a primer on how to do it - like when and how?

Thanks in advance!

We went last January and it wasn't as "slow" as you may think. Every meal we had the restaurant was full and sometimes people waiting. If you have meals that are ones that are a MUST then I would for sure make and ADR for them. It's pretty easy to make ADR's...90 days before your date (this link is a good way to calculate http://pscalculator.net/allearsnet/pscalcae.php ) you either call 407-WDW-DINE or you can do the online reservation at http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/restaurants/

I personally like the online reservations because if your time doesn't come up that you want it shows other times that are avaliable. I helped a friend plan his trip for October and booked all of his ADR's online...it was fun for me :goodvibes

For the QOTD, if we can get into the room then immediately I turn on the TV and watch Stacy on the WDW Top 7 channel. I am not officially "home" until I hear her voice. I love her!! And you are not going to believe this but last January DH, DD and I got to meet her in Epcot when she was filming new scenes for the WDW informercial. Very nice and we got an autograph and pic.

PS Did anyone here send in their application for the WDW Mom's Panel 2010? I just sent mine in.

:welcome: I'll get you added! You'll love January. It's been my favorite time of year to go so far- weather, crowds, cheaper cost, :cloud9:. We've gone in October, May and, like you, a HOT summer honeymoon in July! We'll never go summer again, especially now that we have kids!!

:welcome: I would make those ADR's if anything just for peace of mind. It was crowded at the popular places last January. Good luck with the boys on this trip! Perhaps it will make your trip better if you just let them stay at ESPN the entire time
