Hey everyone. I just wanted to stop in and say "Hi!” and I miss you guys! All this January Specials talk sure gets the blood going (I'm sure it will be something good, at least it has been the last three Januarys).

I just finished my forth round of chemo today. Feeling very tired, very fatigued, the build up of everything in your system really takes its toll (and the side effects become more prevalent, my hair is going the way of the Dodo bird….). I’m hanging in there, and my Husband keeps reminding me we only have a bit over a week until he takes us all down to WDW for our 10th Anniversary. Rick has been great. He always helps with the planning when we go in January, but he has done 100% of the planning for this trip (to ease my load a bit) and he is doing a great job. He better not get a big head over this deal!

Everyone be good, if I don’t get back on before we get to WDW I’ll be sure to let you all know how things went. Hopefully everything goes well. Heck, I’ll be at Disney, it doesn’t get any better than that. Take care.

Joni!! I am so glad you are keeping that awesome attitude!!! I know you are gonna have such a fabulous trip and enjoy your family time!!! Let us know how it went---and give your hubby a big ole Texas hug from us for just being such a wonderful guy!! I know he really keeps you going!!!!

Hello everybody!! I haven't been over here to check on my Snowbird buddies in a while!!! Just wanted to share that we got FD for our Dec trip!!! YIPPEE We saved around $1250!!!! I am so hyped!!! Had to share it with some friends that I know will appreciate my thankfulness!!!! I have also been out of town for a few days and haven't followed any threads...has anything been going on that I missed? Soleil, have ya'll decided anything about a house yet?
Well, now I gotta get up and do my "chores"--I have been on this computer with the code thing, so time to get moving!! Have a wonderful day!!! Keep those fingers crossed... I know ya'll are gonna get a good deal for Jan too!!!

We bought a lot last week and should hopefully begin builing by late September/Early October. We should be getting into the house right around Disney-time, which stresses me out already, but I'm thankful to be getting a house.

You know that's what we do(build houses!!) so if you have a panicky question I will try to help you out!!! It's sooo exciting to build!! I know a lot of our customers are unsure of what's going on..as far as what questions to ask and what the process is, but just make sure you have a good relationship with you builder and ask lots of question up front...Make sure you understand everything in your contract before you start!! We have some clients that are soooo sweet and are dreams to work with, then we get some..... Stuff you can pick ahead of time and be sure of will be better for you...like your brick colors (if you have any)or siding color, interior paint, lights/fans. All that stuff is nice for you to know what you want and have a backup in case they are out when the time comes. We have had people pick out stuff and not tell the stores, then when we go to get it, they dont have it. Then we have to wait for them to come back and repick all their stuff!!!!!
I think you are going to have so much fun!!!!! Congrats!!!! Maybe they will finish early and you can be in with time to spare for Disney!!! If not, don't sweat it....just know that when your vacation is over you get to move into your new home!!!!! Keep me posted!!!!!

Totally OT, but I'm sitting in the house that I built (I was the GC). I'm no builder, but I might have some different perspectives. Number 1--expect it to take longer than you might expect. Of course, I was also working full time, so I was part of some of my own delays. Good luck!

As for Jan--we were out of town this weekend and talked about a Jan. weekend. We've "been to" Cancun, Puerto Rico, etc. But DH said, forget it, let's just go to WDW. And I'm even allowed to check out CR, since we only go for a few days at a time (but we'll probably do teacher discount at Swolphin).

Today I booked Jan. 3 - 8 at Poly. I can't believe it! This will be the 1st time for my kids to visit WDW, and the first for me since 1987! I hope we have at least one day warm enough for swimming. Hip, hip hooray!

It is silly how excited/nervous I was to make that call today! Plane reservations are next week.

1987 was the first year I went as a kid too! You should definitely get at least one good day for swimming.

Count me in! Treehouse Villas Jan 19th thru 26th. Taking a large group this time.

Preliminary plans include:

Adr's to make: Boma, Sci-Fi, Cinderella's Castle for lunch, Germany's Biergarten for Dinner, Lunch at Hollywood and Vine with Disney Playhouse Characters.

Fun items: Get a sitter and adults go to Epcot and drink around the world, Wonderland Tea party at GF for little girls, Big girls go for Afternoon tea at the same time. Maybe a VIP tour guide for MK. Also, one night take advantage of the grille and kitchen and have a Dinner Party in the Trees!!

A dinner party in the trees sounds like a blast... what time should I be there?

I hope it's not too stressful for you. I think you'll have lots of fun picking out exactly what you want from paint to kitchen cabinets and everything in between. By the time you're done, it won't be just any old house but rather a home sweet home for your little family.

Thanks so much for keeping the list up to date!!! I don't think I knew then but I am now booked and dates are CR Jan 23rd thru the 30th. Talked to DH and when I told him about 7/4 he said well if 3 nights are free lets do all 7. I was so happy!! A little worried this will be the longest trip we have ever taken as we are doing 7 nights at universal after disney. 14 nights is a long time to be away from home but I have a feeling we will love it!!!

We are planning a Jan. 9-13th trip. We have a big group and would like to stay in the treehouses. It would be my DH and myself, my DS#1 and his wife, my DS#2 and his girlfriend and my DS#3 and maybe his girlfriend. The 3 bedrooms would be great so us married folks can be alone a bit and the girls can have their own room and be somewhat seperated from the boys! DS#2,3 are graduating from college this year. So this is a big graduation party!!

For those of you who have already made your room-only ressies, that allows you to do the 90 + 10 ADRs, right? But then, are you real careful when transferring to a package to not lose you ADRs? I've read things where ADRs disappear from a reservation.

I'm glad the 180 days ADR days are gone. For me, that would be tomorrow and we are not committed to going. I hope we are by the end of Oct. That said, if I make a room-only ressie, then I can say mid-Oct and start making ADRs, even if I change my hotel options.

A little bit me just talking out loud, but does that make sense?

Maybe I will get on the room-only. However, my #2 choice is the Swan. Couldn't I still keep my ADRs, even if I cancel CR? Oh, I think my head is spinning.

I guess for me, it doesn't make a differnce in that the package rates will come out way before I can make my ADR's. We're going Jan 30-Feb 6th, the package rates 'should' be out in the next couple of weeks so at that time I'll change over to a package. We can't make ADR's until November 1st. If a discount code comes out after we make the ADR's, I'm still not worried since they just apply the discount to your existing ressie.

I was told by a CM that ADR's are not linked to your ressies and are not effected when you change to a package. Not everyone has ressies at WDW (offsite, local visitors that don't need a hotel, etc.) so they aren't supposed to be linked. I didn't have any trouble going from room only to a package and kept all my ADR's just fine. Your ADR's should be just fine.

We are in Lee's Summit Kansas City area. We drove once about 6 years ago with a 7 moth old a 2 year old and a 5 year old. It was a long drive. We stopped overnight in Nashville to break it up. Are you just driving because you want to? 3 years ago when we went last we got a deal on Southwest for 85 pp round trip. I dont think I will see that kind of rates again but last year the rates were 140-180 pp round for the time we are going. Where are you staying at disney?

We drove this year to save money (gas was down to about 1.65/gallon) and next year, we're going with another family who wants to drive. I'd rather claw my eyeballs out, but at least having another car on the road will make it more enjoyable. I prefer to drive straight thru the night, at least for the way there, since the adrenaline is pumping, the kids will sleep making the trip "shorter" for them, and we're there by noon the next day. We may stop somewhere on the way home. However, I haven't heard from our friends in a while, so if they've changed their minds, I'm searching flights!!! The last time we flew it was about 89 or so each way. We were on AA and it was just over $700 for four tickets (MIL went with us). I'm cheap, so I'm not sure I can part with much more than that...we'll have to see how the financial situation is later this year!!!
