January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

How many of us have their photos organized already? I have 650 photos and 92 photopass pictures to go through. My friend who was there last week with me has them organized in an album already.

I have them organized on the computer. But we sort of cheat. When we downloaded them we did a folder by each day, then sub folders for my self, my sister and my brother. *That's gotta count for something...right!:lmao:

Also, no current trips planned for me. It will probably be a few years until I can get back again. My friend and I have a road trip planned to Atlanta in late May, and I really need to save a ton of money now, especially since they cut my hours back at work...:sad2:

Oh well.
Hope everyone is having as a good a day as can be expected for not being in Disney...:upsidedow

Good morning Snowbirds! :cool1: :cool1:

Just had to share with you...I turned on subsonic radio (http://www.subsonicradio.com/) for some Disney background music, and my one-year-old is clapping and bouncing to "It's a Small World" :goodvibes
Even she misses WDW! princess:

How cute!

One thing that surprised me was just how much I loved the fireworks - both Wishes and Illuminations. I managed to see Wishes three times while I was there - and I'm really not someone who gets into fireworks....but Disney really does 'em up grand, don't they? Anyway, I was listening to subsonic this past weekend and the soundtrack to Wishes came on....kinda had to blink back a couple of tears during that one!

The soundtrack to Carousel of Progress came on, too - which made me laugh since I almost knew it by heart [at least the part that got stuck when I was in there].

Before going to WDW, I'd listen to subsonic but didn't have anything to connect the music to - I liked the site but didn't really get it - now I do and love all the memories the music brings back.

Good question...

I have downloaded my pictures onto my computer and have copied them onto a CD for a couple of my travel buddies. I've uploaded some on Facebook .... I guess that's all I've done so far. Still thinking about a TR and a special scrapbook for the baby who went with us [took lots of great pics of him] but, other than that, am not sure what I'll do with the pics [oh, and I did buy a WDW frame for a picture].

We went in mid-May of 07-it was warm, but the lines weren't too bad. I liked it!! Make sure you miss Mother's Day weekend--it's always full--which is my 9yo sons birthday(the 10th) , so we went the next week---Fl schools were already letting out, so there were def. more kids than what I excpected, but it was still very doable!! I think we are looking at doing something different this year. We have friends that just moved to Maryland--so, they want us to come out there---spend a few days in DC!!! We would looove to see Niagra Falls, and we really want to go to England!!! That has been a lifelong dream for me. I want the kids to do a few other things before they hit college!! Of course,I would love to sneak in a Disney Cruise somewhere too!!!

You NEED to come to Niagara Falls!!!! We could give you the grand tour! We just LOVE taking people to the Falls. It's something that we definately take for granted since it's only 20 minutes away. If you ever decide to go, please let me know (that goes for all you Snowbirds out there). We love being tour guides!

Girl!! You know you would be the first person I called!!! I think it would be a total blast!! What is the best time weather wise to do Niagra? I really want to see the Canadian side as well!! We could all go together and really have a ball!!!!!

I placed a order but still have to go pick them up! :rotfl2:

I have my pics organized on one computer and need to put them on the other one. I do digital scrapbooking, so I don't really have to print out many, other than for my girls' books (thanks Shelly, DS9 and DS7 :goodvibes ) and what I want to display. Hopefully I have a reallly good one of the castle for the girls' rooms. And mine. ;)
How do you do digital scrapbooking, I would love to learn!:cheer2:

Meghan, we have so many times wanted to go to Niagara Falls!

I love Niagara Falls, I could sit and stare at the falls for hours.

I narrowed down my pictures to 528. I have more Disney scrapbooks than I can count. I want to do something different but the Disney photobook is expensive. Not to mention that I didn't finish my Oregon scrapbook from the summer.

Morning Snowbirds...

Ok...sitting here waiting for my children to get up from school...and it's Thursday already!...and I have to still unpack 2 pieces of luggage and get my house in order for my little one's birthday party with family this weekend...I just can't seem to get myself moving. I am still in that "oh last week this time we were here...riding this...":sad2: LOL...I need a major push to get me back into reality mode. I think booking another trip would do it...but that can't happen right now until I know my son's school schedule for next year:sad1: Soooo....I guess organizing my photos will have to give me a Disney fix lol.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

I love Niagara Falls Meghan! :goodvibes Last time we were there was the summer before last. We had a hotel room on the Canadian side that overlooked both the Canadian and the US falls. Very nice!

DH and I were just talking about a mini summer getaway and Niagara Falls was on the list of possibilities. Still not sure though, we we may end up going back to Hershey. After all it is our SECOND favorite place to go!

It was -4 when we got up this morning.

It was 20 in Orlando when a friend of mine on facebook got up this morning.

Frankly, I think I'm glad that I'm here, with -4, rather than on vacation in the south with 20!

I have no trips planned for this year right now. It's VERY sad! My friend and I are waiting to see if any great offers come out for October/November and then we'll head to Disney World - she and I had a blast together!

But I'm at a loss right now with no trips to plan! :confused3

I use Creative Memories Storybook Creator Plus and I love it! My DH is a graphic designer who uses very expensive programs and he was even impressed with what it can do.
Thanks! I have to look into getting that program. I would liek to try and do that. I have saw some awesome pages disers have done.

We like Hershey too! I love the chocolate also. I was saying other day that i can not found cookies and cream nuggets anymore. I was wondering if the store there sells them. :lmao: 50 drive for chocolate is so worth it. :rotfl:

We like to go in the summer, but never around the beginning of July. We have a Friendship Festival and it gets pretty packed. July 1st is Canada Day and we made the mistake of going to the Falls on that day. It was way too crowded with nowhere to park. We usually go to the Falls around Christmas to see the Festival of Lights, but we didn't this year. Anyways....everything is open in the summer so that's the best time in my opinion. Last summer, my DH took our DD on the Maid of the Mist without me. I've never been on it, so that's on the to do list this summer!

Meghan, we have so many times wanted to go to Niagara Falls!

You should come on up! It's so beautiful and awe inspiring.

I love Niagara Falls, I could sit and stare at the falls for hours.

I could too! It's just so amazing.

My DH and I used to go to the Canadian side for a weekend around our anniversary. There are so many hotels to choose from and the views are all amazing. We haven't gone since April 2006!!! It was always a nice little getaway and we were only 20 minutes from our DD who would stay at my parents house.

Well, it's -6 degrees today and so depressing. I was thinking of uploading my pics today and editing my photopass pics. We'll see about that. Even though it's freezing outside, I have quite a few errands to run!!!

Morning Ladies!!!
Well, I too am feeling sluggish. I am thinking it's a let-down-of-stress type thing after alllllll that planning, and secrecy and finishing school....... I am getting things done here, but it seems to take ALL day and I am just tired. I def. think I need to plan a family trip!!! My eldest has wanted to see NYC (as I mentioned before) forever, so I am thinking that we could do that and Niagra Falls and just have a blast!!!!We will be outta school by the end of April, so how busy is all that up there mid-May? My middle one's bday is the 10th--so it could work out for us to go that next week. His bday falls on Mothers Day Sunday-my mom will come down for that and his party, so it'll have to be afterwards. I would really like to do something like this before most schools get out. That's one advantage of our schooling I always try to take advantage of. Also, what is the best airport? I know JFK is always so busy---is that the best, or would a different one be better for newbies?!

Good morning Snowbirds! :cool1: :cool1:

Ugh, it is 18F here, which is pretty cold for this area. I guess it's not that bad compared to what some of you have!

We are fans of Niagara Falls also! DH grew up in a little town halfway between Buffalo and Rochester, so about an hour from the Falls. We've been back several times. Most recently was July 2007, when I finally went on Maid of the Mist. There's an all-inclusive ticket which includes the boat, an interesting film, the walkway at the base of the American Falls (have you seen that commercial for Thompson's Water Seal?), and a few other things I'm forgetting. It's a good value if you want to do several of the attractions. Shawna, New York City and JFK would be waaay on the other side of the state...Buffalo would be your best bet for airport. :thumbsup2

We drive 4 hours to get to Hershey - every year!! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

We had a really nice time up there but man is it expensive. We found the food and souvenirs to be higher than at WDW!

In all truth & honesty the prices at Disney really aren't that bad. For "tourist prices" that is. Where ever you go that is considered a tourist spot prices are always that high. We have restaurants here in Galena that go for more a meal for lunch than some TS go for dinner at the world. Just always keep in mind when budgeting that if its a "hot spot" triple what you would pay at home.:rotfl2:

My Grandfather lives in Estes Park CO. It's gorgeous out there, I love visiting, however it's so darn expensive!! I've found ways to keep costs down...a little, but they can jack prices up because they know people will buy the stuff (maybe not as much anymore).

xxxxxx
Well it's 9 but feels -6. It's a good day to stay inside. I made a list of all the stuff that I need to get done this week, so far I've been able to cross off laundry :rotfl: ....yeah I need to get some work done. My plan is to do a major cleaning in my room - I mean going through everything and throwing stuff away that I really don't need anymore :crazy2: .

Have a great day everyone. Stay warm!
