January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

I'm *thinking* of going back in late-April/early-May for Epcot's Flower and Garden Festival [depends on what the AP discounts are]. I definitely want to go back in early December for MVMCP and all of the other wonderful WDW Christmas-y things [my Christmas present to myself]. Gotta use up that AP!

We'll see...I've been strategizing ways to pinch as many pennies as possible...

Well I have a new ticker...Easter vacation 2010...I volunteered to take my cousin and her best friend for their senior trip. It will be busy but that's okay...I would rather be in line at Disney in April then Cedar Pointe in July.

Return Trip...
Our Bounceback was for Deluxe or Villas only. We couldn't afford it for the dates even with the discount. I am kind of upset we didn't at least book the room only. Amazing they didn't even ask us?
I did get a PIN yesterday via email for March It is super cheap for Values- time of year is just not ideal.
I also priced out August (Back to School trip) for CBR - Mommy and Me only trip for dd and I.

I am really unsure about any other time of year as we always have done Jan.

Anyone else have comparables based on their other trips and this recent snowbird trip?

As for comparing months. . . Mid-May is less crowded than the week we were just there in January. But May is a lot hotter than January. So it all depends what is most important to you. I liked the lower crowds in May, but I also liked not being so hot and not having to drag the kids around in the blazing heat in January, so it's a toss up for us. :confused3

I am heading back May 9-15 for a family vacation, we are taking my in-laws! We are staying at OKW in a Grand Villa! I am soooo excited!

we went last may for a nice getaway and we loved it, we just had to convince my in-laws to take my bil out of school

Just wanted to say that for all you Vera Bradley lovers, I have a couple of bags-including a new hipster that I am going to be retiring!! If you are interested, pm me and I will tell you about them. I wish she would do the thing like other retailers that let you trade them in for a new bag, but Alas. She doesn't ...so I must find another option!!! Ha!!!!
I saw thee is some great prices on some bags on the website.

Last week 85 and the mouse! This week 30 and snow. Ughh. And no new trip in sight. How many have their next trip lined up?

:guilty: Unreal aint it! I can not get over I saw as we call them SUMMER FLOWERS in Jan.

Hi snowbird friends. I guess most of us got snow. We got about 5 inches here in my parts of Pa. The kids had a two hour delay for school. Sunshine state sounds warm to me at 50 degrees. I am so tired of the cold anymore.
On going back. I would liek to try May next time we go. I know Shelly has said it was less crowed and I have heard that from other people. I dont have a problem taking my kids out of school. But I dont see us goign anytime soon.
I did not expect to go back so soon as we did for this trip, since we were just there in Aug. 07. So I don’t see us going back for a couple of years. Unless, I win a trip to WDW! I have been entering a couple contest. I am really thinking about going to DL for my 40th birthday. I was hoping to go on a cruise, but my job is iffy right now, and we are not getting back as much income tax refund as we thought. So it will be the Maryland and Jersey shore for us this summer, and hopefully one of the local amusement parks here in Pa.

Good morning Snowbirds! :cool1: :cool1:

Just had to share with you...I turned on subsonic radio (http://www.subsonicradio.com/) for some Disney background music, and my one-year-old is clapping and bouncing to "It's a Small World" :goodvibes
Even she misses WDW! princess:

We went the last 2 weeks in August in 2005, in Dec. 07 (1st week) and just returned from being there last week. Dec & Jan were our best trip weather wise obviously and crowds. I rather being waiting in line in cooler weather than hot weather. I was saying to my DH that we got more done in 5 days in the parks then ever in January. We lucked out though because I was so afraid we wouldn't get there with snow up here in PA which would have delayed my son's exams to the next day. He has 4 days off between his semesters in high school. That's why we went now. Otherwise it will have to be Thanksgiving, Easter week or summer...ugggg. But...either way I rather be in Disney in the heat then in PA in the heat. LOL

As far as returning I'm going to be making a weekend getaway in May...its around Memorial Day so I know there will be crowds but its only for the weekend and I'm going to see a friend!

Then I have my Birthday trip...so very exciting!! I can't wait!!!

When DD was in school, we only could go during school breaks or summer (which I refuse to do because I HATE the heat!!). As a teacher, I only had those weeks off so our hands were tied. Now that she is in college - she has totally different breaks than I do. So, our only option was to try to schedule this trip while she was home between semesters. I originally wanted to go during Christmas/New Years, but the $$$ was WAY out of my budget. Knowing that I had 3 personal days coming this year, late January was our best choice. I must say, it sure beats the crowds and heat in April that we encountered our last 3 trips (although I would have like it to be a tad-bit warmer in the morning). Some day, I would love to go back in early November, or if money was no object, then Christmas week. But, until then, I can only dream..............

But, DH and I have decided that our next winter trip will be somewhere tropical, with nothing to do but relax on a beach with some "adult-beverages" and a good book to keep us company. :beach: (note to self: once that college tuition is behind us, this is a priority!!)

As much as we love Disney - we are not getting any younger :rotfl2: and we were beat when we got home. I think only having 5 days made us feel rushed and we didn't have any "down-time" to relax back at the resort or take a break from the parks now and then. But, we still had a fabulous time and I am so glad that we did this last "family-bonding" trip!

We went in mid-May of 07-it was warm, but the lines weren't too bad. I liked it!! Make sure you miss Mother's Day weekend--it's always full--which is my 9yo sons birthday(the 10th) , so we went the next week---Fl schools were already letting out, so there were def. more kids than what I excpected, but it was still very doable!! I think we are looking at doing something different this year. We have friends that just moved to Maryland--so, they want us to come out there---spend a few days in DC!!! We would looove to see Niagra Falls, and we really want to go to England!!! That has been a lifelong dream for me. I want the kids to do a few other things before they hit college!! Of course,I would love to sneak in a Disney Cruise somewhere too!!!

How many of us have their photos organized already? I have 650 photos and 92 photopass pictures to go through. My friend who was there last week with me has them organized in an album already.

I got home on Jan 26 and haven't even moved them from the camera to the computer yet! :scared: Gonna go do that right now!

I have been back for a week. I just got my pics ordered from Shutterfly today. I had 60 free ones coming. I took 660 pics, but only ordered around 300.

It will be awhile before I get my photopass CD since I am in a share.

I have my pics organized on one computer and need to put them on the other one. I do digital scrapbooking, so I don't really have to print out many, other than for my girls' books (thanks Shelly, DS9 and DS7 :goodvibes ) and what I want to display. Hopefully I have a reallly good one of the castle for the girls' rooms. And mine. ;)

Wow you guys totally just reminded me that I need to order mine! I have most of them downloaded on to Creative Memories site but I really need to get them ordered...I have a crop to go to next week LOL!!!

Your travel plans sound wonderful...I spent some time in England...GORGEOUS - but don't just go to London - the whole country is beautiful and I hear London is a little on the scary side [I never went to London]. And cruises are just wonderful...yay for Shawna!

I've traveled to different places - mission trips, etc. Our church might sponsor a trip to Mexico this year which would take precedence over WDW [or at least two more trips to WDW]. Except for a mission trip, this may be my Disney year -- getting the AP, going back a couple of times, then perhaps on to something else travel-wise [could I ever get enough of WDW???], or I might move into Cinderella's castle. Who knows? The possibilities are endless!!!! Being single and childless, I'm at a footloose and fancy-free stage in my life - which can be a drag but can have its compensating mercies, too.

I did let my travel buds know the options of getting upgraded to the AP - they declined. What is THEIR problem???? :rotfl:
