January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

Thanks Soleil!!!!! I just need to decide for sure WHEN we are going!! Ha!! I am so torn between Dec. and Jan! YIKES!!! Well, one way or another we should all know where we want to eat by the time the ADRs are available.

I have to share my latest blonde moment-

I was in such a hurry to get to get to Sonic for my morning sweet tea, that I nearly left the house with out my dress on. My hair was done, teeth were brushed, accessories in place, Belle was dressed... I'm heading out the door....and then I felt a draft. :rotfl2:
:hug:I'm with the above poster, go kick some butt!

Oh MY! :rotfl: Thanks Soleil! :thumbsup2 I needed a good laugh right about now! :goodvibes

I don't pack THAT much. :rolleyes1

I think both G and I each had our own suitcase, plus a carry-on each. It was January, so I did pack extra clothes because we weren't sure how the weather would be. It was like packing double. I do the spreadsheet so I won't overpack. When I know what I'm wearing each day, there is not need to add in 5 extra shirts.

Your system actually makes sense! I am more spontaneous...I like to decide what I am wearing the day of! Unfortunately, in giving myself choices, I often pack WAAAY too much! :rotfl2:

2 months, 2 weeks and 6 days from the weekend packages became available last year.

4 months, 2 weeks and 5 days until the month we can book our ADR’s.

5 months, 2 weeks and 6 days until the month when discounts were revealed last year.

Where do you find the time to do this????? ;) Thanks so much Soleil! You are great at doing stuff like this! :thumbsup2

Hey Everyone! :goodvibes Joni - good luck at Chemo today! You are in my prayers! :cheer2: Kick Butt Girl! You can do it! :cheer2:

Can't spend too much time on here today - woke up with a sore neck this morning! Hurts to :surfweb: :sad1: Hope everyone is having a great day!

Shawna - come be a December snowbird with me!!!
You get to do everything that much sooner!!

I know!! I actually did think of that!!!!

Of course, if I could talk Mike into taking me to London, I would looooove to do that in June. Any of you ever been? I have wanted to go there my whole life----I think he's kinda iffy about international travel, though. I actually went to the p.o. today and got passport papers. Holy Cow. Those suckers are expensive!!!! I could just about by a plane ticket for one kid for a passport!!!! I have been thinking we should have one tho'-we may have a wild hair to go somewhere and need it, so we might as well do it before they get even more expensive!!! At least I can do the photos at Wal-Greens without breaking the bank.

Shelly, have you decided on the Beach Club yet, or are you still not sure?
I really want to go back there...now the kids are wanting to do the CR again.Of course, I will be tempted to do the Castle view, and then flip out at the price! Ha!! Of course, I will justify it by the 4/3---if it's available for there. I almost didn't get the Poly with that deal in Jan. Not sure why? Maybe they don't have as many deluxes available with that deal.:confused3

G and I talked about resorts at lunch- he's interested in doing WL again. Oh, my skull!

I've been to London - went there back in 1995 (gosh, I'm old!) all by myself! It was great! So much to do and see, easy to get around, the food - eh, it's Britain...
I had been in Scotland to visit a friend from here that was on a year teacher exchange and they set me up to take the train down to London, through Stratford-upon-Avon. SO COOL! I really want to go back.
You never know about when you'll need a passport. How about if you go on a cruise? Much better than a birth certificate! We got them before our first cruise in 2008. The kids' are good for 5 years, adults for 10. Totally worth it. Paige didn't want to have her picture taken, so hers looks pretty grumpy! It's funny!

I'm totally going to be spoiled by going deluxe this time! I really want to go to Poly someday, but preferably just when it's the four of us. I doubt that MIL would like it that much. She's a little attached to Shades of Green. I'd also like to try Beach/Yacht or Boardwalk and WL someday. Notice they are all deluxe? :rolleyes1
Someday when there's another 4/3 deal, maybe in 2011! So many trips to plan...

Come June 1st, you will need a passport or enhanced license to travel to Canada! Living in Buffalo, we hop over the border whenever we want, so this news is not cool. We always have our regular old license and DD's birth certificate. My DH doesn't want to spend the money on either of our options. I told him we have to because our DD loves the Toronto Zoo and Niagara Falls. I mean, yes, you can see the Falls from the American side, but the view isn't as nice. You cannot see the American Falls from the American side! Besides, the Canadian side is much more tourist friendly and nicely kept. Don't even get me started on Niagara Falls, NY!

I see that you can get the Passport or the Passport Card (this one is lots cheaper), but you can't use it for international air travel. So, I am gonna bite the bullet and get the regular ole passport. Yes, I would love to see Niagra Falls from the Canadian side.Heard it's unbelievable!!!

Sheree, I do loooove the deluxe hotels!!! How brave of you to traipse around London all alone!! I guess I will have to get you to go with me!!! Mike is always hem-hawin' around about going. I mean, why let a little thing like terrorists dictate where we go? Geesh. Oh well, more Disney trips I guess. I always just kinda hang around the UK pavilion--I am sure they think I am nuts, but so far that's as close as I've gotten to the real deal.

I was going to plan a quick Disney trip for the last of May a while back--let the last baseball game get over and leave the next day....well, it's a good thing I didn't. Mike is on Jury Duty and it just keeps on goin.... One lady goes on vacation next week and she may miss it!! I would faint! Well, he would just have to hop a plane and catch up with us I guess!! He knows the Disney drill by now anyway;)

Oh, and Shelly. I'm team Beach Club! Tell you hubby that BC has my vote:thumbsup2

Well, if we go deluxe we would definitely want to be in the BC area. But if I am going to pay that much for a resort I better darn well be guaranteed a balcony. And not all of the BC rooms have balconies. So therefore we are thinking about the BCV or the YC. What do you guys think???

Of course this would all be pending a great deal being offered. In the meantime I think we will book a moderate and wait it out and hope to be able to upgrade. Thinking about POR since it's the only one we haven't stayed at yet. . . .

I think that sounds like a great plan. I think you will like Port Orleans, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed and believing that we will get a great deal in the fall!

We looked at a bunch of POR pics the other night. I really love the looks of the outside of the resort, but am not that impressed by the inside of the rooms. But who knows, maybe I would like it better in person! :confused3

I am still hoping to be able to go deluxe though! :wizard: But if not, I'm sure we will be happy at a moderate like we always have been! :goodvibes

I got my passport when I studied abroad, but now technically I'm supposed to get a new one, because I changed my name. I am not thrilled about paying money for that when I just need one word changed.

Shelly,
I don't know about the BCVs. I would love to, but they bump the price waaayyy up for a family of 5. We would have to get a 2 bedroom--even though I think we could fit in a one bedroom. I think the YC is just as good as the BC, just a little different decor. It's more nautical, BC is more seaside.
I will take either one if the other one was full.

I guess it's really summer here---already got a migraine.:headache: It's been coming on all day. I fight this every summer----another reason we can't do Disney in the heat!! It was almost 90 here today. I think I should move to Antarctica from May to Oct.---skip the heat and the hurricanes.

Maybe you should become a real snowbird like the retired folks in MN. Stay up here from May - October and then head south for the winter (yes winter is November - April!)
