Hand Sanitizer gel

I need to pack/buy...

Travel pack of tissues
Motrin ....for the kids

Decongestant/Expectorant....kids and adults
Ear thermometer

can you think of anything else I need to pack?

Thank you all!

I've never tried it, but I know of people who use Airborne. Might be something to try on the way down or right before. I guess it's supposed to help prevent illness? Maybe someone else knows more about it.

I'm getting some hand santizier and we will have tylenol and motrin with us as per norm other than that nothing.

This reminded me of a Christmas 2 years ago. That year my DD's grade had each class pick a country and that class then hosted all the other classes to a Hoilday mini feast/traditions. While our class was China and we talked about the New Years celebration the class that most peaked my DD's interest was the class that celebrated Chanukah. My DD became quite an expert on all things Chanukah and declared that we should celebrate Chanukah too! Her best friend is half Jewish and they celebrate both. At the class party I was telling her friend's dad about how into learning about Chanukah DD was. He suggested that we come over and help celebrate one of the nights! It was so wonderful! We came over and DD got the honor of lighting the Menorah! She was so happy:goodvibes ! Her BF's dad went slow and explained everything to DD and then even pulled out a little kid book to help her with the songs. After we sat down together and had the most delicious brisket! Yum! The dad makes it, it's his grandmothers recipe. They even had a little gift for her that night. She got her very own little tiny Menorah!:woohoo: Oh, that was a good night!

Sounds wonderful! We've had friends do the reverse as well and share their Christmases with us. It's just great to share traditions with each other!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS!!!!!:goodvibes

Just wanted to jump on quick and say a very enthusiastic HELLO to all my snowbird friends! Hope you all are healthy and feeling relaxed and ready for the BIG DAY on Thursday! I am now at my Inlaws house about 120km East of our city! I love it here! I get totally spoiled! Contrary to most, the relationship I have with my In--Laws is wonderful and very loving! We always have a great time together! Today my girlies are going to bake sugar cookies with their Granny while I go shopping for last minute stocking stuffers! LOVE IT! No cooking, cleaning AND free childcare wheneer I want it! I am so spoiled! Well, hope everyone is enjoying their holidays! :cool1:

OH YES! Happy Hannukah to Snykymom! :)

Thanks! :) And enjoy yourself at your in-laws! We moms don't get spoiled nearly enough! ;)

Thank you all!

Given all that I've read about the Norwalk virus, I'm going to pack a small bottle of Clorox cleaner with Bleach for the room itself (never done that before!) since apparently bleach is about the only thing that will kill Norwalk. Just have to figure out how to pack it so it doesn't destroy all my clothes! (And I'm hoping it'll be gone by New Years, but given how many people are down there, I doubt it!)

Hi. I've used it - basically it's an immune system booster - lots of vitamins. It's convenient, but it's not a "sickness avoider" - just makes you healthier.

Doesn't hurt to use it.

Thanks! We had a lovely time lighting the candles last night, just the 3 of us. The cats actually sat and listened to us singing! :cat: :cat: DH made lots of latkes, so it was very festive.

I hope all of your Christmas preparations go well, and that you all stay safe and warm!
I have such a mental image of a couple of cats meowing along! :lmao:
Reindeer Noses! Well, one anyway. :thumbsup2

I stopped and got the ingredients this morning and we're making some tomorrow! Thanks for the last minute idea! :thumbsup2

Speaking of illnesses, I'm going to be staying in my house as much as possible. The Norwalk virus is making its rounds here in Florida, especially in my area...ewwww...I will go to Wal-Mart...LATE tonight and pick up more Chlorox wipes and antibacterial hand stuff...but mostly just washing hands ALOT!!

It's the Stomach "flu" yet it doesn't belong in the flu family so the flu shot doesn't help. It's a really nasty stomach virus.

Shelly I found that post days ago, but didn't want to post it on here because I didn't want to freak anyone out...but yeah I passed paranoia after page 2 of that post LOL...is it bad that I'm hoping to get it before I go so I'm immune LOL

It is really spreading around our church, one of the little girls got sick during church and our pastor's wife was out last night not feeling well at all.
I'm wondering if this is what my family had two weeks ago. We all had it and man it was Very sudden. Fine one minute and BAM...you get the picture. Hopefully that means we've had it and won't catch it again.
Count me in as a frozen bird!! When I got up this am the actual temp was -15 I didn't even want to know what the wind chill was. We also had a 2 hour delay do to the cold. We aren't supposed to get above 0 till Wed with up to 6 more inches of snow.:cold: :cold: :cold: :cold:

On the bright side my coffeehouse is full. All my construction guys are back in drinking coffee, & hot chocolate & playing pinball. So at least I'm making $$$ today. I didn't even open yesterday we had 40 mile an hour winds. NO way I was driving in that.
Glad the weather is keeping you business! Way to look on the bright side!

I pack travel kleenex, Clorox wipes, thermometer, Motrin for kids and adults, diarrhea meds and hand sanitizer. If we need anything else we can drive and get it.

Clorox wipes won't work on it? I hate to pack a whole bottle of cleaner but if that's what it takes.

I also pack a few band-aids and a tube of Neosporin, and a small package of cough drops. Also a little bottle of eye drops and a little nasal spray. I always feel so dried out after the plane.

Kim, are you close to Pasadena, or Fort Meade? My friends just got transferred out there from their base in California. Just curious--I am not really familiar with the state----I wanted to show the kids on the big wall map where they are, but I don't know which big city that is closest to.

I've taken the Clorox wipes with before. and wiped down everything...Airplane tray and seat armrests. Even the window shade. Last time I bought the Large canister and just packed small amounts into ziploc bags for the day. I even wiped down all tables at meals!

I didn't think about ordering a bottle of Clorox clean-up for the hotel room from Garden Grocer. I've already put into my online shopping cart all the diapers, wipes and Shampoo/ Conditioner because they are bulky and heavy. We always order bottled water because we don't like the taste of Disney water...Too Minerally! And we get a few snacks for the room/early breakfast and Diet Coke so I can function. I guess it would be a good idea to add the colorox too! Thanks!

ooh I forgot about the first aid kit I pack- that's a whole different story.

Becky~ do you like the Garden Grocer or is this your first experience? It would be so nice to just have the bottled water and juices delivered instead of shipped. That stuff gets heavy!!! I will probably do those travel shampoos, toothbrushes and all that like I usually do(ship the week before we go), but the food would be nice!!!

I'm taking all of the above and more!!! I'm going to try my darndest not to get sick!

I bring all that stuff too! I have a bunch of little samples of various meds, and it just stays in my travel bag. I hadn't considered the clorox wipes, but I'm bringing a tub of them now!! They will be good to have in the van on the way down too.

I also bring dramamine - mostly because we're going on a cruise, but I may try some for the more active rides too! Luckily, my DH will go on the teacups so I don't have too. My kids don't do too many coaster type rides. I'm trying to talk DD7 into BTMRR or Splash. :)

I am looking at the Clorax wipes right now & they say " bleach-free" "kills cold & flu viruses * Influenza A2, Rhinovorus type 14, Escherichia coli (e-coli), Streptococcus pygenes, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphyloccoues aureus.

So I am guessing that this wont work against Norwalk? Bleach is the only "killer"?

Going to WEB MD to check this out.:magnify:

Hi Shawna!
This is my first time with them but I've heard great things on the Dis about them. It's super easy to use and they even have every single Disney Hotel address already in it's system.

Last time I used Staples for the Water delivery they had free shipping (not anymore). We are big water drinkers and It's too expensive to buy that many bottles onsite. However I decide that to save on baggage cost and make more room for clothes I would purchase all the bulky items from The Garden Grocer. Packing diaper/wipes for 10 days would take up too much room and with the baggage fees it works out about even to just order and have it delivered. Now you do have to pay $12.00 for delivery and add a tip for the delivery driver/packer but I think it's worth it.

BTW they only have "Lysol Mildew Remover with Bleach". I hope this will kill that virus! What do ya'll think?

Yeah, I had seen those threads, too but didn't want to alarm everyone. It appears that the Christmas crowds seem to be exacerbating this so, hopefully, things will be cleared up in a couple of weeks. To those who are going this week - I've read about several posters who weren't affected by this at all. Also, many are saying that the rich food and long hours were culprits, too - they got a little sick but only had themselves to blame.

The upshot is that I don't want to be paranoid but I do want to be careful - I'll be adding cleaners to my packing list.

Bring a bleach based cleaner that will take care of the virus in the room and make sure that you have the kids wash hands with warm/hot water and soap whenever you have the chance. Just take some precautions and make sure you also enjoy your trip. We still have a while before we go and it might work its way out of the area by them.
