Oh, and it's cold here - in the 20s/30s and my kitchen pipes had the nerve to freeze today! I'm off work today and had a hankering to do some baking....which is not impossible without kitchen water but is a real pain. Oh well, I don't need any more calories [the baking was for me to take to some friends' houses!] and I had already made oodles of reindeer noses last week [was that providential or what!].

To all of you in the sub-zeros, windiness, snowy, blizzardy conditions - stay warm and don't try to do too much outside!

Ok webmd says that it is passed from others already contaminated & sharing of utensils foods etc, shellfish, & salad greens. and they do say that you must clean & wash with bleach.

SO I would say that one way to watch out for it is silverware.. Most germs are spread by the handeling of utensils. They come out germ free from the industrial dish washer but then get touched by humans. The worst case scenario is the buffet lines, when you have tons of spoons etc all in one bin & everyone & their brother touch the. Also the bins that hold silverware. I remember having to read up on the types of infections you can get from this when I had to take my food certification. I have stuff you can "wipe" on them to on site sanitize but I don't know what would work for over the counter. Will have to check.

I am totally fuming right now because Expedia changed our flights again! They changed them from us arriving at 11 am to arriving at 11 pm, therefore shaving a day off of our vacation. Of course, I can't get through to Expedia right now because of the holidays.

Hi All,

Thought you all might appreciate an update.

So, I finally got to talk to DDs best friend's mom, who had said no visit until after Christmas because of the playing with a Sharpie. She said DD wasn't being punished, the friend was, and DD does very well at their house and they are happy to have her there.

So, the Mom says - she's welcome to come over on Tuesday or Wednesday because we will be leaving Thursday on a "surprise" trip for BFF and BFF's Dad birthday to - drum roll please - DISNEYWORLD!!!!!!!

DD wasn't allowed to know about the trip until they left, so she wouldn't give it away.

How funny- so the two girls will have an experience to discuss when Lauren comes back from her trip. Of course, now she's sad because it took so long to get together, then BFF had to leave again, but they'll be able to play during Christmas week!

So, all's well that ends well (for now at least)!

Thanks for all your good wishes about it.

OOHHH I would be IRATE!! That's a twelve hour difference!! Can you contact the airline instead? I have never dealt with them just because of horror stories like that. :grouphug:

Afternoon Snowbirds!

Just got back from DS9's class party!

Congrats to everyone hitting the one month mark today or this week!!! :cool1: :woohoo: :cool1: :woohoo:

Glad all worked out. It's too bad the mom couldn't have told you sooner so you could have worked out away to soothe DD feathers. But think of the fun they will have talking about their trips.

I'm glad you dd has her bff back (I still think it was a bit harsh but I guess you gotta let that go). How fun they'll both be able to talk Disney! Future Dissers!

HELLO :badpc:  ! You know I'm saying hello to YOU!

(Sorry for the interruption Snowbirds...I'm just taunting :stir: my sister who is a lurking Snowbird but doesn't post. Perhaps if I bug her enough she'll say hello.:chat::rolleyes1 )

All this talk about changes in flights had me concerned. Our online tickets were available to download 25 days out.
So I go check my confirmation number etc etc. Guess what happenes- I can't find the email!:scared1: NO where, look in each email address we have. I check my Disney folder, everywhere- cannot find- I don't even remember when i bought them but i know i paid for them.

So I call DH in a panic, it's been along time since I have been this panicked.
he tells me to call the online agent we dealt with. So I go ahead and call them- I am sure this has happened before - right:confused3 . So i get through to e-commerce and ask if they can resend the email. At that time, DH has already called and they have my request. I am sure I sounded hysterical to the agent! He tells me where he sent the email and that I should see it in 24 hours.

I then return to the email only to find the original starring at me plain as day! :headache: How did I miss that????:confused3

So I go to check the flight times- they are earlier?? So we leave at 6:20 am and arrive 9:15am ! That gives me at least a half day at the park.... now more panic... room wont be ready, so we leave our stuff at the front desk? Do I need a lunch ADR???? :confused3

Unbelievable. I know Soleil got bad news about her flight :sad2: So I wanted to share my story and hope for some pixie dust for her! pixiedust:

Clorox wipes won't work on it? I hate to pack a whole bottle of cleaner but if that's what it takes.

I am looking at the Clorax wipes right now & they say " bleach-free" "kills cold & flu viruses * Influenza A2, Rhinovorus type 14, Escherichia coli (e-coli), Streptococcus pygenes, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphyloccoues aureus.

So I am guessing that this wont work against Norwalk? Bleach is the only "killer"?

Going to WEB MD to check this out.:magnify:

Right, I don't think the regular Clorox wipes will work, since they're bleach free and alcohol free. And none of the "antibacterial" products are effective either, since Norwalk is a virus and not a bacteria.

Didn't think about the silverware. Yikes! :scared1: Maybe after I get my food and go to wash my hands before eating, I'll take the silverware with me and wash it there! We only have one buffet planned, so that's the only one I'll be ridiculously careful about. The rest I leave to fate.

The Surprise thread has been updated!

I bought that same wrapping paper! We wrapped the nintendo ds in the Tink paper. Santa has told me he got the Princess paper for DD's gifts. My DH also wrapped my gifts in the Tink paper! Yea!

It's snowing again here in WNY. We got home from the grocery store just in time! Now, we're watching the Santa Clause and I'm doing some :laundy:

Delta changed my flight back to the original time. This is the 2nd time this has happened. I will not be using Expedia again. It is such a pain dealing with this!

I'm so glad that everything worked out. It will be so cute to hear them talk about Disney together.:cutie:

We are arriving early, too. You can certainly check your bags and sign in. Then just head back to the room later in the afternoon. They will give you your key ahead of time. As far as an ADR.... that's up to you.:goodvibes

That's why I'm bringing my Cholrox Cleanup Spray with me, has bleach and will disinfect my room first thing!!!

Just wash wash and do more washing with hot water and soap!!

Hey neighbor! We have frozen pipes too! This is miserable. Do you have the taps opened a little so they don't burst? (I learned that the hard way).
:scared1:

Ohh - just saw my ticker! 1 MONTH! Okay, Disney, get that norwalk virus cleaned up before then!!!
