January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part III !!!

That's a fantastic idea! All we have is a huge double jogger (that I love and worked WONDERFULLY last year). We're planning on taking this year, and we're driving for the first time, so DH has decided I need a bigger car so we have room for the stroller and our luggage (OH, and the kids, too I guess)!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: He thinks it's time for a minivan, but I'm worried about the gas mileage if I have to drive it everyday to work! Any suggestions?

DH drives our 98 Chevy Venture van & I drive our 08 Subaru Forrester. He gets about 20-23 mpg I get 25-28mpg. We just upgraded from the Impreza wagon for a bigger size. Yes the van is nice for hauling stuff & kids, but we tend to let it sit & use the Subaru's more. That plus I really hate driving "the Great White Whale" as I call it:rotfl:

Hey everyone!

I always try to research before I ask a question but I'm at work and.......:guilty: can't so here goes..

Is there any special event going on the last two weeks of Jan such as cheerleading, dance groups etc?

Thanks in advance for your responses!

I'm not sure about this. We talked about this probably back in Part I of the Snowbirds. . . Seems that maybe there is a Brazilian tour group going. . . Not sure about anything else in late January. . .

Are you going in January?

Makes sense to me. But FYI they can lie down in the disney ones. we used sweatshirts as a pillow laid the little guy down & covered him up. BUt he was also only 1 & 2 each trip & a peanut to start.:rolleyes1

I thought of that too but I just can't seem to justify the extra cost when we already have two that will serve the purpose. That and we also drive to most of the parks rather than taking the bus and if she falls asleep we can leave her sleeping while we walk to the car rather than waking her if we had a rental to return.

for those needing strollers.... I saw this website when I was searching for my niece.... it might be a cheaper (and nicer) option than renting from DIsney whose prices are crazy for strollers...

a double..side by side stroller that reclines and has the baskets underneath is only $85 for stays of 4-7 nights... they also do the double joggin stroller for $96... and they do FREEE delivery to DIsney.... might be a way so save some money...

Someone told me the Mazda5 gets like 27 MPG for a mini-van. Hubby also likes the Nissan Rogues or Muranos. Right now I drive a 03 Passat and my payment is only 215/month! Not sure I can find something newer without my payment SKYROCKETING!!! Plus I commute at least 90 miles/day, so MPG is important! If I could fit us and all our stuff in a Ford Festiva I'd be all for it! (Yes, I'm a cheapskate)!! :rotfl2:

BRING ON THE CODES...Mama needs a new car! :cool1:

Wow good deal! If I were flying and couldn't take a stroller, I'd be all over this!

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Thanks for all the nice comments about DH everyone! He loves Halloween and worked very hard on the costume (so did MIL, who sewed the shirt and vest). The judging at his office is taking place as I type, so hopefully we'll recoup some of the money he put into it. :lmao:

Oh, and someone (sorry, didn't quote you) asked if I was dressing up, too. I'm just wearing tiger ears and tail and fun eyelashes. I certainly don't get into it as much as he does. My entire costume cost $6.50. :rotfl2:

Trixie- :rotfl2: Do you like seeing your man dressed up like Johnny Depp?;)

The eyeliner is my favorite part! :cloud9:

YAY ~ Woohoo 65 DAYS!! :cool1: :woohoo: :cool1: :woohoo: :cool1: :woohoo: :cool1: :woohoo:

I think I'm still in the 80's ? ? ? Again, where is Trixie?!? :lmao:

Yep, Snykymom was right, 82 days. I just picked my seats for our flight home yesterday, which was at 83 days. I heart Northwest, by the way.

Trixie was tired (must be from being so cranky ;) ), so Trixie was sleeping. You were the one who gave me the idea...weren't you going to take a nap, too?

boy... I am second guessing working with AAA.... I just got the paperwork in the mail... from what she was supposed to have done with the AP rate... and its about $500 to much.... I called her back and explained to her that on her paperwork I was being charge $167 a night and not the $89 a night.... she says to me... well $167 is a great rate..... well ya it is but $89 is better.... I will give her some time to fix it... if not I am going to cancel with her and take care of this myself..... better not tell the code peeps.... or I might need to get my friend Mr Bond out.....

Hey, a travel agent is only good if the travel agent gets you what you need! I'd only wait until the end of the day and then book myself were I in your situation, so that the AP rooms aren't all gone. (And yes, I'd book first, then cancel, just to be safe - to heck with what they think!!!)

Oh no, I hope we don't have to get him out again!! :lmao:

We looked at both of the Nissans before we bought our second Subaru I loved the Murano but I really couldn't justify the price. We got our new one for $18000 & at 4.5 financing from Subaru the cheapest Nissan we could find was $25000 BIG Difference!!

eeeewwwwwwwwwwwww I am really annoyed about this whole TA thing... I think I will go clean something..... be back soon..........

whew ladies you are getting me all bothered with this talk of Johnny Depp & James Bond:lovestruc need to cool off:cold:

You're thinking of Hot guys, and I just saw your screen name and suddenly I'm in the mood for a mocha latte! Took DS to McD's for breakfast since I took the day off for his P/T conference. I don't like their coffee, so I haven't had any today! May have to make a trip to STL Bread Co on my way to the meeting...
