Wow! Yeah, I feel for you guys! (is there a sarcasm smilie? Insert one here!) :) That's higher than the average for this time in October in MN!! My family will be the ones wearing shorts around WDW when it's 60 there in January!!

With all this talk of snow today, I am very surprised that we haven't had any yet! I mean, come on, I live in Northern Ontaio for crying out loud! If anybody's gonna get snow, it should be us! :lmao: I just checked our forecast for the week, and we are actually supposed to have a high of 15C on Thursday and NO SNOW ALL WEEK! :confused3 Right now it is cold and cloudy, and windy!

I suppose I should answer my own QOTD - I honestly don't remember what we did on our last nights before, but I know what we will be doing this trip! Watching wishes one last time at MK! :woohoo: Can't wait!

You can count me in on the group of crazies  who will be wearing shorts when it is 60 degrees in January! :rotfl2:

Welcome to all the new snowbirds! Hang around here long enough and you will have a great time! :dance3:

Sarah(sarbah) Glad to hear you are starting to feel a bit better about your surgery! Hope you find out all the info you need! It sounds as if you had a wonderful doctor last time around! I think it is so important for Doctors to listen to and encourage their patients! :thumbsup2

Hope everyone is having a great day!

QOTD: We'll probably ask the Kids where they would like to go one more time, park hopping, and maybe DTD.

Lots of snow talk today, we already have a couple of inches on the ground and they have forecasted 6-10 inches total accumulation today. (I personally think it will all turn to rain;))

I just got back from the office and grocery shopping... it is 38 degrees... raining and windy... so windy that the rain is coming sideways at ya... it should be snowing by 3pm.... did I ever mention I hate winter....:lmao:

Are they still doing this?

They were doing it in April when we were there, also when we were there last February... I took about 15 band students up with me... they loved it...

It is really cold here, too. Probably in the 60's - but that's so cold to me!!!!

BBBBBBRRRRRRR!!!!!!

Soleil... I am feeling your pain..... just about 25 degrees colder of pain....

I asked the CMs the same questions and I have been told all Disney stores, food realtors, and restaurants (Except for places like Rainforest Cafe and the new TREX) will take the cards. I specifically asked about all my restaurants and as long as they are Disney they will take them. Which is why I'm doing it this way that way I don't have to worry about my NDH LOL seeing a huge credit card bill I will have my cards with me and that is my limit!!

I use my Disney Visa card and pay off the trip a month before... then I have those rewards to use... I am up to over 200 credits already for this trip and I still have to pay off the trip and Christmas shop with it.... I put absolutely everything on my Disney Visa... then pay it off every month.. all my business expenses... everything..... we even put DD college bill on it and earned rewards for that....

Just checking back in~wow ya'll covered a lot of ground in 4 hours!! Imagine all of us chatties in a room together!! We would have to shout!! Ha!!:rotfl: I think it'd be great fun!~

Okay, weather wise--I used to be envious of you Northern people....but ya'll don't really get much fall do you? I mean, Snow and freezing temps before HALLOWEEN!!!!!!:scared1: YIKES!! It's 57 and beautiful here today-the wind is cold though- I am sure ya'll would love it, but it's kinda chilly for us hot weather people!! I do love it between 60 and 65--just right--I remember being hot in Disney a few days last January.BUT, I have heard we are all supposed to have record cold this winter. Do you think it's because of our active hurricane season----which I am proud to announce officially ends on Saturday!!!!!!!

Well, I took all my break time between:teacher: &:laundy: to:surfweb: with you guys!! So, I am off like a race horse again!!!! Later I am going to Wal-Mart for groceries and :tinker: YIPPEE

Snow.
Is it really that time of year? Really?
Urgh. I still can't believe it. It's like winter arrived here already and it usually doesn't untill about late November! Granted, we just have a rain mix, so it's nothing as bad as my upstate friends, but come on! I have a feeling it's going to be a nasty winter! Although it would be loverly getting a white Christmas for a change!

Hello Snowbirds! I haven't checked in a while but with this mention of weather, I just had to add my frustrations. Today's high is going to be a sunny 93! Yes, we are still running our AC during the day. I can't believe how warm it is still. Earlier this year, it didn't get unbearable until the end of May and so I guess we are now paying the piper!
Dreaming of rain and 60 degree weather....:cloud9:

Grrrrr. My feet are still wet and cold I'd like you to know! And I got into the office at 10:30!
You must be in southern AZ, because my friend in Flagstaff is also doing the I hate snow grumble already!

Are we allowed to throw a party for the end of Hurricane Season??? I'm telling you Summer is a bit stressful down here on the Gulf Coast!! I'm so glad one less thing to worry about!!

Yes, cold wet feet would not be fun! The funny thing is that everyone here wishes it would rain more but when it does, the streets get flooded and the traffic is a mess because no one knows how to drive in it!!! ;)

QOTD: What is your favourite thing to do on your LAST night in Disney? (I know that we don't really want our vacations to end but it is a good question!)

Oooh. Gosh. I don't know. I think I'm either SO tired I collapse OR I'm trying to cram in everything we haven't done yet, like I'm never going back (this is trip #7!).

I also consult Dr. Google quite frequently. With all that DH has been through I am on there alot. He seriously would not have gone to the ER if it weren't for Dr. Google once. I love the internet.:cloud9:

Yeah, I abuse the wisdom of Dr. Google, without taking anything to seriously, if you know what I mean? It's sometimes hard to verify information, so I use it as a launching point... like going to the ER because your DH's symptoms matched something. Or to reassure myself after dealing with Mean Surgeon With No Bedside Manner! (the first thing I thought of was, again, "oh no, I have to be fully better by Disney." Not Christmas. Disney!)

Class today was zzzzzz. I didn't expect much more, but I did get to go meet a contact I've been speaking to for YEARS. That was nice - we agreed we'd get together after work sometime. :)

Tylenol-3 has helped improve my mood and decrease my pain - HOORAY!

Disney! Disney! Disney!!!

I posted this in the general Resorts messageboards, but wanted to come to my "peeps" who are also planning a January trip! I can't believe that after doing all of the planning, there is a major glitch

Here goes:

"So, to make a long story short, H tells me just the other day that he cannot possibly take time off at the end of January after all, due to his job situation (too long and too involved to go into, but his hands are tied). We have a few options and I will have to call AAA in the next day or two to get the ball moving and rebook the trip, which has been planned for January 22-26th. Here are my options:
1) Reschedule to January 1-5 (D and I are still on school break, except for the 5th for me, but I could work around that one day)
2) Reschedule to April 4-8 (the week leading up to Easter)
3) Keep our original dates and leave H at home

The difficult part of this is that D is in college and her breaks are different than mine now (I teach). We always had to travel on school vacations, and we were excited about going to Disney when the crowds would be much lighter, even though the January weather can be "iffy". I had originally looked in to the week between Christmas and New Years, but the price of that was outrageous, so that is why we went with later in January. I would have taken personal time, and D would have flown back to school directly from Orlando while H and I would have flown home. Flights have been booked, but on SW, so I know that I can change them, but may have to pay a bit more.

I am leaning towards the Jan. 1-5, as I feel that the week before Easter is going to be very crowded. We have always gone mid-April during our school vacation, and the two times it bordered Easter was very crowded. When I told D, she didn't see a problem leaving Dad behind  , but I feel that it wouldn't be fair to spend money on a long-awaited vacation and not take him with us.

So, I am just looking for some advice from all of you Disney experts before calling the travel agent tomorrow morning. My other consideration is to try to keep the price comprable to what we already had planned for. Thanks in advance for any help on this situation."

Party? Did you say Party? I think that's a great reason to throw a party, I can bet its a stressful time of year! Besides, do we really ever need a reason to throw a party?

Hey dklam,
LEAVE HIM HOME!
No really, I can see how spending all that money on a family vacation and leaving part of the family behind seems mean an unfair. But what about a mother daughter trip? Would everyone be open to that? I'm sure it would be wonderful and you two would have such a magical time bonding and having fun, and it would be different than having DH there. It could turn into a very special trip for the two of you.

If that's not an option, I would suggest staying away from Easter. I hated my April trip, and it was during Passover. I hear Easter is even more crowded. Way worse than August.
I've heard the the first few days still get some of the Christmas crowds, but they lighten up each day. Christmas week is usually just as crowded as Easter!
Between the two, go for the January dates if you have to change the trip!
Just my .02! I hope you find a great solution soon!

Oh, yeah, you poor thing! Why don't we just swap houses for a week?
I guess weather woes are all relative, aren't they? I bet your a/c bill is higher than my heat bill! :)

How does H feel about not going? It could be a special mother/daughter thing if he's not that wild about going anyway. I can't imagine my DH not going with us, but he's as much a Disney nut as me and our kids are little. Otherwise, between April and Jan, I'd say go in January. I see you're in New England - might be a good time to break up winter. Plus, you might still be able to see the Christmas decorations and stuff then.

Okey-Dokey, add me to the list of people that are headed off to buy Tinkerbell. DDs and I are having a girls' movie night, even though DD9 rolls her eyes and wants me to believe she doesn't like Tink. Who doesn't like Tink??? popcorn::

My DH could care less about going... but if your DH really wants to go with you then I would suggest more the beginning of January than April.... while I have been in April many times... it can be really crowded and you don't have a lot of days... when we go in April we go for 10 days so we don't have to worry about being in a park all day.... if DH doesn't care if you go without him then I would go later in the month because I think it will be even less crowded... good luck with your decision...

I am so excited to go get this today.... and I forgot to buy Sleeping Beauty... I hope I can still find it..... DD is coming home on Saturday to help me with some stuff so we will have a girls night watching them both while the boys are at camp hunting....

I say "if" you can't leave DH behind then do the early Jan. dates. The other dates would be way to crowded. I have done girls trips with all three of my daughters to WDW. We had a blast, and will be doing another one this coming Jan. My DH likes WDW but he won't die not going. It is one of those places he goes to because we love it, but he would just as easily be happy elsewhere. I have the best memories of those trips. Think about it!

:tinker:Have fun at your Tink party!

I want to kick my printer! It is being so bad today!:headache:

Oh, absolutely!
party: party: party:
We still own a house not far from you, near Fort Walton Beach. It's less than 20 years old and has already been flooded 3+ feet twice! (Opal and Ivan--we bought it after Opal but before Ivan)

Here are my options:
1) Reschedule to January 1-5 (D and I are still on school break, except for the 5th for me, but I could work around that one day)
2) Reschedule to April 4-8 (the week leading up to Easter)
3) Keep our original dates and leave H at home

I would also vote for the early January dates. :thumbsup2
However, I also like the mother-daughter trip idea, if your DH won't be too disappointed. What does he think?
