Hello Everyone,

Just spent some time catching up. Sounds like some of us have busy weekends. I went the movies Friday night, saw The Women - highly recommend it, very funny. Tonight was my little sister's first Homecoming dance, she looked so grown-up - can't believe she just started high school. Tomorrow we have a cousin's 1st B-day party at...guess where...Hooter's.

Also speaking of taking a cruise, I highly recommend the Disney Cruise Line. We've taken 4 of them and loved every minute. I won't sail on any other line now. I plan on being on one of the new ships inagural cruises...2011 or 2012...can't wait.

Gillettes...where in Michigan do you live... I live right outside Detroit in Warren. Have you every been to the Halloween event at Greenfield Village? If you haven't I recommend you take your kids...we have a lot of fun each year.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend.

Amanda

For all you croc lovers............
I just dont get it! :confused3
I have a pair of Mary Janes and I love them. I wear them hiking all the time, and all over at home in the summer, but I wore them for one ONE day in Disney and had the biggest blisters of my life! It was so bad!

I think they're really comfy shoes and all, but they just didn't work for me. Maybe it was the combo of extreme heat & sweaty feet & lots of walking?????? :guilty:

Well I hope everyone has a nice Sunday. I know I will be suffering at a 5 hour lifetime award dinner at my Austrian club. :mic: :faint:

Oh, and as it is offically the next day YAY for those who have only 99 days to go from today!!!!!! party: :rainbow: :jumping1:

Well good night snowbirds!

I wear my crocs to the pool and the water parks. I wear a good pair of Reebok walking shoes or Rockports to the parks...very comfortable.

We also start walking ahead of time to get in shape for the long days.

Morning, my Snowbird Peeps! I know...you are all still sleeping, but it's 8:38am here and I've been up since 5am. On my one day off this week. Grrrr. Why is it that kids don't have a snooze button. I managed to stay in bed a little while longer. Until they were nearly killing each other. And now, here I am.:surfweb:

No problem. I'm just such a fan of saving money anyway that I can.

And speaking of saving money, I have over $200 worth of change saved up! That's my spending money for disney!!!

Oh, we have a change bucket too! We've got over $400 in ours!!!!!!! :cool1: Since my mom is paying for our trip, we decided that we'd cover the tips for our TS meals and use the rest for spending money. We're going to give the kids a certain amount of money to spend anyway they want to. I'm thinking it will be about $20-25. I know it won't go far at Disney, but it will far enough to make them happy! We're still saving, so I'me expecting to have more than $500 before it's all said and done! Unbelievable. We've been putting in a bit more than just our spare change. The cool thing here is that coins here go up to 10 Shekels, which is a bit more than $2.50. So, we drop a few of those in and our pile just keeps growing!

So, on this CROC debate. I'm still torn. Scot actually thinks we should put all of us in Crocs with socks. :scared1: I'm no fashionista, but that just makes me cringe. But his reasoning is good. Cooler weather and helping to avoid blisters. Socks help with both. But, if we want to ride splash mountain or the Kali river rapids, we can take the socks off for the ride and the crocs dry so quickly. No wet feet. Wet feet and lots of walking are a bad combo. The kids don't care if they have to wear socks with their Crocs. I was thinking I could buy fun Disney socks for them as stocking stuffers. They're still young enough to love that. I think? Maybe I better check with my oldest. He's just now starting to act "Cool." :rotfl2:

Question: are there any rides where your feet dangle beneath you? 'Cause I'd be worried the Crocs might fall off.:confused3

The kids all need new sneakers. I was thinking of holding off buying them until the beginning of November. That would give them plenty of time to wear them in before Disney, but they wouldn't be old and shot. Maybe we'll pack Crocs and sneakers.

My kids have never gotten blisters from their Crocs, except for Maggie and her Mary Janes. They were rubbing her where the black things holds the strap on. They were just a tad big when she got them and she hasn't complained since...but socks would prevent that.

So, should we risk breaking every fashion rule and have comfortable feet? Or should we just go with sneakers?

I have honestly never in my life put more thought into footware before!

I almost forgot! I know we've got some new Snowbirds joining us here. I'm part of a stroller swap for a double sit and stand stroller (it looks great...not bulky like a double stroller and the older child can stand on the back or sit...pretty cool!) and the swap is now free.

The days of January 2-8 are available. I'm only worried because I know having the stroller in storage is the worst thing. And it will be in storage from the 2 until we pick it up on the 8th. If you could use it for any of those days, visit here. Remember...it's free for you!

I own a pair of "crocs". I say it that way because they aren't name brand! I went to Payless Shoes (I think) and bought a pair (and paid less than half the price of Crocs). I had tried on actual Crocs and they fit wierd of me. But the cheap ones fit me great. They are actually really comfortable.

I wear the Airwalk brand too! :thumbsup2 My podiatrist (I feel so old saying that), says they are actually much better for your feet as they have a built in arch. Mine are getting very worn down and I need to get a new pair. The problem is I haven't seen them in Payless for a long time. I wondering if I could find them online. :confused3

Good Morning Good Morning!! Hope you all have a great Sunday, just dropped off my hubby at the airport and am having a hard time falling back to sleep before church.

Alright so I took the plunge got a photobucket account and learned how to use it (at least I think I know how to use it) and I can now post up some pics.

WOW the pic was huge when I posted it...back to the drawing board on that one....LOL
Now, its almost too tiny LOL I'm going to get grey hair trying to get this work LOL!!

WOOT!! I am Queen of the World!! Okay so don't laugh I was in my I"m a Disney Tourist and I'm going to look like a Disney Tourist phase LOL! (Honestly...don't think I've out grown that yet) Anyways this was taken in May 2005 after I graduated college!

On a sad note I can't find my Mickey Visor anywhere and it still has my pins on it :( I'll have to start a massive search soon!

Great afternoon - PHILLIES WIN and clinch the National League East. We are huge Phillies fans in our house, so it was really fun and exciting to see the game today. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

We're big Phillies fans here, too! I was torn yesterday as to which hat I should wear out of the house, my PSU blue and white or my pink Phillies hat. Both DH and DS had on their Phillies hats, so I chose PSU.

Both came out on top :cool1:

Good Morning Snowbirds.

So . . . Crocs. Ry has 3 pair, although two are at the point that he should retire them. His little feet get blisters when he wears them because they are too small. He has a pair of Mickey Crocs that he loves and will come to Disney with us. He also asked for a pair of Mammoth Crocs of the Oakland Raiders variety. (Thanks be to DH) I have to order them because, well, we live in PA and there arn't too many places that carry Raiders Gear.

I have a pair of Beach crocs, a pair of Mickey Athens and a pair of Cleos. I've worn my Cleos all around HersheyPark and have never had a problems with blisters or sore feet. I may take those along in January. The Athens are another story. I can't walk around the block without have sore toes. I don't wear my beach Crocs out much. I use them primarily for outdoor work around the house.

I have a pair of "Athens" crocs (flip flop crocs!) that I like to wear in the parks. They're comfy, and the strap between the toes doesn't bug me the way a normal flip flop normally might!

Also speaking of taking a cruise, I highly recommend the Disney Cruise Line. We've taken 4 of them and loved every minute. I won't sail on any other line now. I plan on being on one of the new ships inagural cruises...2011 or 2012...can't wait.

:cool1: Yay for the Disney cruise! We went once back in 2004 and it was a ton of fun. It is pretty cool that the ports of call are all planned out for you, but I remember I was also impressed (and a little daunted!) at how many choices there were of things to do on the ship! There were the pools, the kids clubs, the adult clubs, the sports deck, movies, so many different places to eat, the shows, different parties, events, character greetings, etc. We're going again in January (just a 3-night), and I can't wait! There are so many things we didn't get to do last time that I want to check out!!

Same here. I really need to get a new pair, my soles are wearing out!! I have the mammoth ones in khaki/brown color and I love those too!! I have the regular crocs, but the other two are more comfortable for lots of walking. My boys have the reg kind and an Athens and my dd has the Athens with the strap and the minnie mouse Mary Janes. (Wow,,,long sentence). Well, looking forward to a pair of the boots!!!

Forgot to say Good Morning Snowbirds:goodvibes

Well, unfortunately I have had a migraine since early yesterday. I have taken some Tylenol and Excedrine(which usually gets it the first time) and it's still here. I am now at the nauseated part and have been up half the night trying to go to sleep. So, I am probably not making much since in what I say!!! Dh is getting ready for his Sunday school class and taking one of the boys with him. I still have to get me and the other 2 up and ready. I thought I would check in and say HEY before I got rolling.

:surfweb: Was hoping this would get my mind off the ole migrain---helped a bit, but not enough!!!! Ya'll have a good day--I will check in later this afternoon!!!

Good Morning Snowbirds! I should be at church right now, but I kinda forgot to set the alarm last night. Oops!

I really need to start investigating my crocs options. I don't know what all these different styles are. I know that I want to get mary janes for my DD, but I have no idea what kind to get myself. I love flip flops, so maybe I'll go for the crocs flip flops. I'm sure they would be better for me than my beloved regular flip flops.

Oh I hope you get to feeling better  Migraines are horrible, I actually take medication everyday to combat them! Have a good morning and then try to relax and hopefully that nasty migraine will just go away and give you some peace!

I, too, am a huge fan of Crocs. I have 3 pair. Last year at Disney I actually alternated between my Mickey Crocs and my tennies. One day I wore my Crocs, the next the tennies. It worked out nice! My feet didn't hardly hurt! Plus, with having to take off your shoes to go through security, I like having the crocs on in the airport (I must admit - I do wear socks with them somtimes----the horror!:rotfl: )

When I bought my last pair, the saleman (okay, really salesKID) and I were talking. I told him I bought Crocs for comfort - not style. I know I'll never be cool again - especially since I'm a mom!!:lmao:

I kid you not!! I leave the 20th and you arrive on the 21st I believe and trust me I have been tempted more than once to extend my stay by a day...I'm really thinking about! Just cuz then I can do a whole day of Animal Kingdom and get to meet a few other snowbirds...I think trixie arrives on the 21st too...and for me that would be worth it!!

You should definitely extend it a day!! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

Shelly-you are definitely NOT weird!! and if you are, I am in the same boat!! I hate leaving my kids. I really think it would be mean & cruel to leave them for a Disney trip. I think I should plan something they wouldn't be interested in. Like Niagra Falls, or something like that. I loved the idea for overseas trip---but that is something else I want to do as a family.

Thanks! :goodvibes I feel much better now knowing that I am not alone!

H

Shelly, I'm sure we can find somewhere to meet, even if it's for 5 minutes. I can't possibly get through this trip without meeting some of you, maybe we'll take a ride over to CBR and check it out!! I'm sure when it gets closer, we'll all figure it out!

Sounds good! :thumbsup2 I'm sure we'll figure something out when it gets a little closer! :yay:

I just went to the croc website to take a look. They actually have heels :lmao: They have boots, maryjanes. I was just expecting the basic clog style.

I guess I should go try some crocs, just for the heck of it.

Hmm. . . I have never been a Croc person. Maybe I should check them out. . . Maybe they would have a style that would be comfortable and cute at the same time! :rotfl: Oh and I need a big heel to make me feel tall, I am only 5' !

Also speaking of taking a cruise, I highly recommend the Disney Cruise Line. We've taken 4 of them and loved every minute. I won't sail on any other line now. I plan on being on one of the new ships inagural cruises...2011 or 2012...can't wait.

Oh I would love to go on a Disney Cruise someday! They are just so dang expensive! Maybe someday after we get tired of the parks. Okay, that may never happen! :lmao:

Happy Sunday everyone! :goodvibes

I'm just getting ready to make lunch and then it's off to the kids soccer games all afternoon, probably in the rain. :umbrella:

Ok all my musical friends:
"Good morning, good morning! We've talked the whole night through good morning, good morning to you!"

I hope everyone enjoys their Sunday!

Question about January footwear for you.....
Do you find it's usually cold enough to make you wear socks? I never wear socks in the warmer months and wear ballet flats or a tennis shoe. I usually have skirts on and think socks look silly with the flats & skirt. I will admit to having a touch of the fashionista in me. So if I need socks I think I will have to rethink my packing plans! I think I'm going to worry about packing for this trip more that anything else!
Although, even though I've had really bad luck in the past, some of those new crocs are so cute!

Well, in the mornings it can be rather cool. Also once the sun sets it cools down rapidly. But once again, I really wouldn't worry or stress about packing until a couple weeks before hand.

I usually start looking at weather forecasts and stuff like that to see if I can somewhat predict what it may be like.

I wear socks and tennis shoes year round. I have very few "girly bones" in my body...and trust me, fashion is not one of them!:rotfl:

I'm not a complete fashionista, but I do normally go for style rather than comfort (especially when it comes to shoes!). I have typically gone to WDW in the summer months and I have been once in March (it was blazing hot). When it's hot out and I'm walking all day, I definately go for comfort rather than style. I've never worn flip flops at WDW, but I'm definately considering the crocs that are flip flops. They are by far my shoe of choice. I would wear them in the snow if I could!
