Wow! You sure know how to throw a party!

Golly, I sure am having a bad day at work.:sad2:

I'm supposed to come back up tonight for Bible Study and I just want to go home and crawl in bed.:sad1:

Hope you get better!! I feel like I am getting the Sinus junk my family has had for a couple of weeks--thought I was going to get skipped, but alas....my head feels funny:scared1: You know the feeling-I am going with hubby to a dinner thing for the chamber of commerce tonight. Some business he deals with invited him--so.....no early bed for me. Got a sitter-ordered pizza, and I feel weird--isn't that the way it goes!!!! Hopefully the Echinacea and Tylenol will kick in. Hopefully...the longer I sit here, the worse I feel.:sad2: Well, I definitely think we are looking at Part III by Wednesday, for sure!!

I hope you feel better, too! That is going around everywhere.

I was off work today because I'm having a fence replaced - woo hoo! [not me replacing the fence, mind you - just sticking around the house if the guys need anything and to keep the dogs from escaping into the backyard.]

Anyway, not only did I not do any work around the house, I didn't even have enough in me to post on our thread....that's what I call lazy....:sad2:

Enjoy your dinner, though - even if it's a work thing, it might still be fun to have a little uninterrupted time with your DH. And you don't even have to cook!

I tried to change my resort to the GF main Bldg. and it is sold out for the whole month of January..... I find that odd, isn't January a slower month than the others???
Between no availabilty at the GF Main Bldg. and no reservations at LeCellier I am beginning to think the economy can't be too bad, everyone is still going to Disney :thumbsup2

Nope, not me. That would force me to plan more! :) Although I am contemplating getting the Passporter for both WDW and Cruise.

I've got the UOG, and my DD10 has the passporter - passporter is helpful with planning, but I haven't come accross anything in there that I haven't already found out about from the DIS - it will be helpful to take with us though, and is a great place for DD to record her thoughts/memories/opinions etc. Personally I prefer the UOG - more info and I'm partial to their rather 'dry' sense of humour.

So what is everyone's children dressing up as for Halloween? pirate: And when is your town's Trick or Treat?

DD9 is going to be a very funky witch - Black fishnet tights, a purple satin skirt, black lace singlet style top, black crochet jacket, black hat with purple satin band, and to top it all off, a purple feather boa!!! DD11 is going with a pirate costume (which I need to sew this week) - very authentic looking (hopefully), complete with a belt of coins, a sword and pistol (Disney Jack Sparrow version with sound effects for 'dramatic effect'). Our girls went to an American school when we lived in Mozambique so love the whole Halloween Experience, but as 'the land of Oz' doesn't really do Halloween, we have our own party for DDs (and our) friends - costumes compulsory, house decorated, and creepy/slimy stuff to 'experience'. We do get a few trick or treaters, but it's strictly treats only if they've made an effort and are in costume.

Our countdown is getting REAL close - it'll be 2 months tomorrow until our first night in WDW, but our WDW holiday 'proper' doesn't start until the 30 Dec, so another week or so until that gets to the 2 month mark.

Changing the topic totally - any other Snowbirds going to be in WDW for NYE?? We're planning on being in Epcot for the day (and night). I was reconsidering our ADRs when I first heard about the Fantasia Buffet, but now the menu's been released I'm glad I didn't - I don't think we'd come close to getting our $$ worth with the selections on offer. We'll just have a very leisurely dinner in 9Dragons, and spend the $$ on some NYE refreshments as the night progresses, (tall Icy ones from Mexico for me).

Off to update my pre-trip report now (i've been slack of late), and things have changed quite a bit now the Aussie $$ has fallen - at the moment the cost of our WDW stay has gone up by about 35%. So like everyone else I'm hoping for some great deals/codes/whatever to come out and 'ease' the burden.

My DS is going as a skeleton pirate. This will be the first year we take him out. He is so cute, last week we went over with him that you go up to the door and knock and say trick or treat when they answer and ever since then he has been practicing. I am so excited to see his reaction to everything!

Ry is going to be a pirate.

Hey! We get to be snowbirds, too!

We will be at WDW Jan 8-14, doing the Disney Half Marathon. We are eating at Spoodles the 11th, and Boma the 12th -- I'm leaving the rest up to how we feel...

My ds10 is going to be an alien for Halloween. He's trick or treating with his two bffs, who are twins. I got all 3 boys little plush Halloween Stitch figures from the Disney store, since they call themselves the "Stitch Brothers".

Halloween plush are half price right now at the Disney store, and you get a 15% off coupon for your next purchase between Nov. 10 (or first, I can't remember off the top of my head) and 23rd...great time to stock up on Tinkerbell gifts if you are travelling with little ones...

This is an adults only trip -- don't feel bad for ds, he needs to stay at home to be in school. His grandparents are coming to spoil him for the week, and he's getting a 2-wk family vacation in Orlando at the end of August...

Maria
Welcome to the snowbirds! Where are you staying?

You're not alone on these boards - I've kind of stayed out of the conversations because (1) my d is a sophomore in college (which, BTW, is why we're going in January - that's her winter break); (2) I was only a stay-at-home mom until she was 1, then I went back to work; and (3) we're Jewish, so no church, Christian cable, MOPS groups, Christmas planning, etc.

Ha - I feel pretty alone at times. I'm childless (by choice, though I recently found out that, yeah, I can't have children without the help of medical science anyway and, believe it or not, that's so frustrating!) though I adore everyone else's kids. :rotfl: (Hey, I can give them back when I'm done and I don't have to be the grown up!) I'm also not terribly religious - I say "nominally Christian."

I never was one to create my own path, as a child. So what happened?!

So what is everyone's children dressing up as for Halloween? pirate: And when is your town's Trick or Treat?

I am going as a Financial Wizard (hmm, guess what I do for a living?!), based on an inside joke at work, where a faculty dubbed me as such. As for Trick or Treat - it's on Halloween, here! Always has been.

Golly, I sure am having a bad day at work.:sad2:

:flower3: :grouphug:

I hope your day improved!

I was busy at work today - wow, you all talked a lot!! So much to catch up on, though I kinda feel like someone standing in a window, watching y'all!

I have my MRI tomorrow night at 11:10pm (bleh) and I can't eat or drink for four hours (bleh! BLEH!!!! inhumane!!! ;) ;) ;)). So I'm pretty nervous with all of that and nervous about having to wait until next Monday to see the surgeon again. And nervous about whether it'll be the fast'n'easy or the slow'n'long surgery. Gaah!!

My DH reminded me that it's 11 weeks until the marathon. He's so looking forward to it. he was trying to get me to plan out where I'd go and watch him run on his route, this morning. I felt that was perhaps a tad premature.

Anyway. Anyone have recommendations for an inexpensive digital camera? I have a really great digital SLR but it's a bit cumbersome and I'd love to take a point and shoot with me through Disney!!

Clever costume! I hope your MRI goes well!

I consider myself a Christian, although I am not much for church going. I have put my kids in our church's pre-school and that's about it. Too each his own, and I admire those who embrace it, and certainly don't judge any who don't.

Anyway - on the camera question - I have a Kodak EasyShare and it's pretty good. I have yet to figure out the settings to get it to take quick pictures in a series, but it's a nice, about $100 point and shoot. VERY small too. Easy software to use for uploading. Check it out. If you are good with the SLR maybe you can figure out the settings easier than I can! :)

Best of luck all around!:flower3:

Anyway, there's an old Yiddish saying: "Little children don't let you sleep in the morning; bigger children don't let you sleep at night" because you're worried about where they are and what they're doing!

Keep doing what you do, and what you believe is right, and your kids will do just fine. There's no other choice, is there?

It does feel some days that the board drifts into a certain direction - i.e. Christian, SAHM, ministers, etc. Hopefully the cycle will come around again and be a bit more inclusive. I'm sure it's not on purpose it's just the way the conversation goes some days :) Hopefully everyone feels comfortable jumping in, even if their lifestyle doesn't "match" the dominant posts at the time. :grouphug:

Thanks everyone! My day is much better now. I did go to Bible Study and it was taught by a sweet and beautiful elderly woman. I am just nuts about her! Can I just tell ya'll that she is still quite the fashionista?!?!?! (Hearing aid and all.) I loved her outfit and would gladly share a closet with her.

Now I'm going to go love on my wonderful family. Sweet Dreams, friends!

Whew trying to catch up!

Congrats on your 1000th post Trixie!

I was grossed out by the snake story too. Yikes! And all I was worried about were tiny bed bugs!

Halloween: My daughter is going to be a Care Bear (Bedtime Bear) I know it isn't Disney but she loves them! My son is going to be Woody from Toy Story. I already took a picture of him to try out his costume and he looks so cute.

Sarbah77: I have the Kodak Easy Share Z760 and loved it until my hubby bought me the Nikon Cool Pix for my birthday. The Nikon is super thin and takes great pics so that will be the one I probably take with me to Disney. Good luck with the MRI tomorrow- let us know how it goes! Rooting for the fast'n'easy surgery.

I'm super excited tonight! My hubby used to be an automotive technician for Ford and took a major pay cut a few years back. It was so frustrating that he decided to leave and start working for himself in the lawn care field. He loves it but it's seasonal so winters are worrisome. (Not worrisome enough to stop me from planning a trip to Disney though  ) Well long story short he has a great paying job lined up with another Ford dealership for winter.

But the BEST part of my evening is that he actually talked Disney with me tonight!!!! :cool1: :yay: He's not wanted to talk about it for fear that this job didn't work out and worrying about the economy turned uglier. i was telling him about how I jump on 50 times a day to check for codes and discounts and we were talking about the hotel and stuff! He actually was on the computer with me looking up a dvd player for the long car ride!!!! (If anyone has any recommendations, please share. We need the kind with two screens that can strap to the back of the headrests. We can't mount one in my dh's truck) I'm soooo excited he actually talked about Disney!!!!

Good Evening Snowbirds! :goodvibes I hope everyone has had a really great day! :) We arrived home a little earlier than we thought we would so I thought I would just drop in and say hi! :yay:

A comment about the current conversation.... I don't believe anybody means to be exclusive in the conversational trend. We find common ground and want to explore it! I personally find it very exciting when I "meet" somebody who has similar life experiences as me! Whether it be motherhood, marriage, faith, work or whatever. Inside each of us we have a part that is made to desire connection with others, so when we see connection, it is only natural to want to expand on it! However, I will apologize for myself if anything I have said has caused another to feel left out or excluded! For myself, I will try to keep my part of the conversation more relevant to the Topic at Hand - DISNEY!

I know it is late but I just thought of a really good QOTD!

What is your favourite way to unwind in the evening after a busy day at the Parks?
