I am another mommy trying to protect my child from growing up too quickly! :thumbsup2 We don't have sattelite or cable or anything like that. We borrow videos and movies from the library and rent New Release Family Movies from the Video Store! They love Disney Preincessesprincess: , the Barbie Movies, etc. My DD7 has absolutely no interest in even watching the HSM movies! I have offered to watch it with her but she is not interested! She loves the NArnia movies though! :)

Just a thought for you or anyone else going non-cable. We don't have it either--but we use Sky Angel. We looooove it!! They are limited on the channels offered, but they have Fox, The Weather Channel, The Hallmark Channel, Discovery( My kid loooooove this one) and some channels that run different pastors or speakers. It's definitely Christian minded. Before we could get it, we went a long time without anything--just rented or borrowed movies, or watched our Disney collection. Ya'll should check into it-it might be something you want. It's cheap too!!!

Hey Dancegrl--I JUST realized we are going the same day!! I don't know where I've been!!:sad2: anyway--I agree with your theory for the SB!!!

We are seriously going to be at Part 3 by Halloween!! LOL

I don't have children but I work with teenagers and I totally get the whole growing up too fast. I have three students who are pregnant and I can't even wrap my head around being a mom and I'm 26 and they are 16 year olds it blows my mind. Some of my students have been through so much more than I could have even imagined when I was at that age. So I'm with all of you about protecting their childhoods.

Wow I haven't been around much this weekend, but I always find more time during the week, weekends are so busy with church activities.

Well I did make another change to my itinerary..I have decided to take Thursday off from work too (LOL my last personal day) and get to Orlando during the day and have the evening at Epcot YAY!!! I was very nervous about driving in the dark and being tired this way I can just drive during the day!!!

Hope you all had a great weekend and I will see you all in the morning!! We don't have students again for another teacher workday so I'll be around between faculty meetings!!

okay girls!! Disney Mommy is off to bed!!! I have been soooo tired in the evenings lately. I think it's the season/time changes. By about 9, I can't hold my head up!! Usually I am such a night owl--but when it starts getting dark early, it helps me be sleepy a bit earlier!! Woo Hoo!! I love when it's pitch dark early in the afternoon!! Just makes me wanna cook home made soup and read/play board games/watch Disney movies --with my little family!! I am suuuuch a homebody!!!
Okay---have a blessed night and I hope you are all able to be up & at 'em in the morning---Blessed Monday!!!!!

A very late good evening, or very early good morning to all of my snowbird friends!
Just thought I'd pop by and catch up on the weekend chatter now that my paper it DONE!!!!
That's one down and two more left in my college carreer!!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

It's so great reading about all you wonderful mommy's out there. I'm not a mommy yet, but have plenty of little cousins running around. I think I almost died whem Marissa (then 4) and I were watching HSM2 and she turned to me and said "I can't believe Troy is on tv without his shirt on, he's so cute! As much as I appreciate those movies introducing musicals to a new generation, they should really keep the marketing to the tweens. And here I remember hiding my face when Ariel and Eric kissed, it was yucky! :rotfl:

So to jump in a bit late for the superbowl talk, I too am a little worried about crowed levels. My aunt lives in Tampa and said the hotels are all sold out already, so we might see Orlando area rooms booking up (it's alittle under 2hrs by car) but most people will be busy going to tailgate parties and the like, even if they don't have tickets. I bet there is a minor increase, nothing to get worked up about. If anything, make sure you have a sound touring plan for the end of the week into superbowl weekend. If people are there for the superbowl, chances are they will be partying Fri-Sun, so maybe Thurs & Mon would see a slightly higher crowd level with people doing daytrips. At least that's what my Mom's doing!
I've never been to WDW during a cheer competition, but I have been to Universal, which is a smaller resort, and the competition was a bigger one. The only time we saw girls in the parks were for the last hour or so at night, and that was on the last day of competition. If they have a meet the next day, chances are they won't be in the park, they'll be resting or practicing. I do know they use the Indiana Jones theatre for competitions a lot of the time, so that may end up being closed for the day, double check on that one.

We should all just think lots of happy thoughts that the crowds will be wonderfully low all month long and everyone will get to ride their favorite rides again and again! :wizard: :wizard:

All right I'm off to bed! Ahh the wonderful sleep schedule of a college student! Happy Monday everyone!

Morning Snowbirds!

Trying to catch up...

Spent the weekend not feeling well. I made myself homemade chicken noodle soup t feel better and was just lazy all day yesterday. My kids had it last week so now it's my turn.

Someone pass the magical elixir that makes husbands as crazy about Disney as their wives.

I'm trying not to panic about the crowds from the cheerleading competition and Super Bowl. They may effect the last day of our stay but hopefully not too much during the week. We won't even be heading to the parks on the 31st, sadly we'll be driving home.

Gotta run. My little day care girl should be here any minute. Check in at nap time!

Congratulations on finishing your paper!! My DH is in the middle of his master's thesis and he's having a terrible time. Up til now, everthing has been focused on the scientific side of aeronautics. Now, he has a professor that is more concerned about the art of writing. He just doesn't think that way. He's very ready to be finished, as I'm sure you are!

I am right there with you! I actually like fall and the time change. I think I may make some home made baked potato soup . . . mmmmmm! I know I'll be able to talk my son into some good old Disney movies.

I made him watch Sleeping Beauty yesterday afternoon. He doesn't much care for Princess :confused3 At any rate, I was kind of sleepy and I was drifting in and out. Every time my eyes would go shut, he would come over and kiss me awake. He must have kissed me 10 times. Needless to say, I didn't get my cat nap, but it was really sweet to have my very own Prince Phillip.

Awwwww..that is too cute!! I still haven't watched my Sleeping Beauty yet and I need to it keeps calling my name, but that pesky real world keeps getting in the way. I too also have my very won Prince Phillip (my NDH LOL)

Oh isn't homemade baked potato soup the best my hubby loves it!! Now I'm having a craving for it so I'll have to run out and get the supplies and make it this week LOL!!

Good morning Snowbirds! :goodvibes

I read on one of the January code threads yesterday that there is going to be some kind of convention at WDW for the dates of Jan 17-24. 7000 conventioneers PLUS their families!  I am really starting to wonder if January was a smart choice for us. . . . New Years, Marathon, MLK Day, conventions, Brazilians, Superbowl. . . I'm a little worried! :scared:

I respect you guys so much for this! You have really made me think about what I will and won't let DD watch as she gets older. You are both amazing mothers and your daughters will thank you one day!:goodvibes

Thanks so much! Knowing that there are others who share my thoughts makes me feel so much more confident! Being a mom of Girls is difficult! We all need to work together and be supportive of each other! :goodvibes

Thank you! In this day and age, kids just seem to grow up WAY too fast. I just don't want to expose her to certain things at such a young age. I've learned a lot through our church (if anyone's church has a MOPS group, I highly recommend it!) and our DD LOVES all the programs that are offered for kids.

P.S. MOPS stands for Mothers of Pre Schoolers in case you haven't heard of it

Yay! :yay: Another MOPS mommy! I did MOPS from the time DD& was 6 mos old until just last year! Had to stop going because we needed me to start contributing to the family income a little bit! I miss it so much! This would have been my last anyway as my youngest turned 5 this year! I made so many wonderful friends! I can't say enough positive things about MOPS - it is a great program!

Sounds interesting - I'll have to check it out! Thanks!

Okay all - I have to get my girlies to school - I will check in at REST TIME!

Hey Everybody! Hope everyone's days are great! I spent the entire afternoon working on my countdown calendar. If I don't get it done soon, I'm not going to need it anymore!!!

Did you get it done??? :yay:

Shelly..that's a bummer about TREX...it might be a good place to pay out of pocket though if you were thining about doing any of that.

Yeah, we will probably wait until the next trip to go to T-Rex. We don't plan on getting the DDP next time since DS would be considered an adult by then, so we will just go there when we are going to be paying OOP anyway. I just can't see adding a TS meal and paying OOP when we already have so many TS meals on the DDP. The DDP is usually too much food for us as it is!

PS - I would have sworn we were on the list Shelly, but please add us... we will be staying at All-Star Music Jan. 24-31.

Thanks!

Well I would swear you are on the list too. I remember putting you on it. . . I wonder if you accidentally got deleted when I was adding someone else or something like that. . . I will go back and check it out!

Hi Shelly - I, too saw that on All Ears and it threw me! I have been reading so many different speculations about this restaurant! We are planning to pay OOP for this one anyway, but will wait to hear about when we can actually make an ADR. So far I've read that they are not taking ADR's at least until the NEW Year!

When I called Disney Dining he didn't say they weren't taking reservations for it, he just said that is wasn't on the DDP and you have to call them directly at - 407-828-8739. :confused3 It is all very confusing when you are told one thing and then told another and then read something else!

Did you get it done??? :yay:

It's getting there. I tried to download a Disney font and it didn't work for some reason. So that's the next project! I think I might want to laminate it, so that it could be used again seeing as I've put so much time into it.

Does anybody know of anyplace that you can get something big laminated (similar to poster board size)?

Good morning Snowbirds! :goodvibes

Hey everyone!

Had a busy weekend. I worked my part time job 10 hours on Sat and 10 on Sunday. Got to make my Disney money! Anyway, about conventions they usually don't affect the crowds at the parks as they are all in meetings and seminars during the day, and park passes aren't inclused in the convention. I know that LotusPhere is huge and they will be at the Swan and Dolphin, but it doesn't affect us. I have been there three times during this time, and the conventions have never affected us much. Hell it beats coming in the Summer or during school vacation times! Enjoy and do not worry!

Hope everyone is doing well! Yummy potatoe soups sounds good right now!

Go Phillies!!

I echo that! GO PHILLIES!!

My SIL is a Rays fan. She sent Rylan personalized Rays t-shirt. He's been wearing it along with his Phillies hat up until now. Looks like it will have to stay in the closet until AFTER the World Series. :thumbsup2

Maybe that is the one I read about because I think it was going to be at the Swan and/or Dolphin. I was just looking back trying to find the post about it on the other thread and now I can't find it.

Thanks for the info! I feel a little bit better now! :goodvibes

I loved being in MOPS! Last year was my last eligible year, but I couldn't go to the meetings. I also started working again so we could start saving up for our house (which we now have!). MOPS was so great and I learned so much and made a lot of great friends. My DD loves all the friends she made there too.

Well, just got my DD on the bus, now I have to finish getting ready. I'm going on her field trip to the zoo today, and it's pretty chilly out. It's about 40 degrees right now, but it's supposed to go up to 61. I had to break out the heavy winter coats today! Be back later! Have a great day!
