Good Morning Snowbirds:goodvibes Hope you all have a wonderful weekend--it's very pretty here this morning!! Hopefully we will stay in the 70s--next week we are back to 80s:confused: Wish we could have Fall without getting up into the upper 80s! I am tired of hot!! Shelly--were is that Dino resteraunt? I don't remember it. I know my middle son would loooooove it--he's the dino man!!!

Morning Everyone,

How is everyone today...it's a beautiful fall day here. Mom and I are going Christmas shopping a little bit. I was just chiecking up on what I missed. I hope our codes are coming soon...and hopefully they come out with something more than a room discount...we already got a pretty good AAA rate.

We got our seat assignment for our arriving flight...they were great seats so I didn't have to change them...all 3 of us were seated together. In 10 days they will assign us seats for our departing flight...hopefully no problems there either.

Well I will check back later.

Amanda

I keep checking on those darn codes but nothing yet..... maybe on Monday.... they wouldn't announce it over the weekend would they???????

I might know the answer to this, but want to ask anyway. We are currently set to stay at SOG. I know the DDP is not available to us because it's not a traditional WDW resort. Would free dining be available to anyone? What about ticket upgrades? I know we can get tickets at a reduced rate (no tax) through SOG anyway.
I'm wondering if I should be hoping for any great deals for us if I can't use it anyway. Of course, I still hope all of you get room deals, free dining and park hopper upgrades! :)
TIA if any of you know this.

Totally off topic of Disney.

My daughter is 4 1/2 and is in Pre-K. Our neighbor 2 houses down is a little girl who is almost 6 and in Kindergarten. The 2 girls play together outside sometimes and get along fine. This is until our next door neighbor, a little girl who is 7 and is in 2nd grade comes home and wants to play with the 6 year old. They go off together. My daughter tries to play with them but they say stuff like "we want to play alone" and "go home Belle". Sometimes like tonight my daughter doesn't care and just plays alone or sometimes she comes to me crying. She is very sensitive and doesn't understand why they won't play with her. I don't know how to handle this. I know how kids can be...I just want to know if any of you have gone through this and how you have handled it. Any advice???

Is there anybody else in the neighborhood that she could play with? Some little girls are just mean, and if the 6 year old is choosing the 7 year old over your daughter, then even if the 6 year old wants to play with Belle when the 7 year old is not around, that's not really fair to Belle. I wish that everybody could just play nice together, but that usually doesn't happen. When I was younger my Mom would practically force us to play with everybody. She just didn't understand why we didn't want to be friends with certain kids. My Mom would even invite kids over to our house that we weren't friends with, and even worse, they were mean to us.

Are there any activities (ballet, church etc) that Belle participates in, from which you could invite some kids over to your house? I know it's ideal for your kids to have friends that live in the neighborhood, but unfortunately some people in closest proximity are not the best friend options.

I just thought I would let everybody know that I was on the Canadian thread and people are saying they got pin codes today :goodvibes Hopefully we'll be getting some too :)

Ooooh... good, so is it just the Canadians who are getting the e-mails? I saw the thread... checked my e-mail and nothing was there so I had a little panic attack. It would really suck if I've been getting all the pin codes up until now, and they skip this one.

  I just love hearing about folks who work with teens - what a crazy age that is [I'd hate to be a teenager again!] and what an influence adults can have in their lives. I have something of a they-drive-me-crazy/I-can't-live-without-them sort of relationship with my gang at my small church.

Oy -- I think I see hairy pits in MY future :scared1: :scared1: Carrie, do armpit farts work better with hairy or non-hairy pits?

This brings up a very salient question - a couple of us have been discussing whether or not we will be wearing ears - Mickey ears, Goofy ears, etc. I got a Disney gift card for my birthday so I wanted to get some ears [since you can't get them online] - would I wear them though? Do y'all?

[apologies in advance if someone has talked about this - I've missed a few days and boy, has it been hard to catch up!]

I'm planning on getting the Bride and Groom ears, and wearing them proudly! Welll.... most of the time, I'm not really a hat wearer, so I'll probably get irritated by them at some point.

How does it work when you get FD and upgrade to Deluxe? Do you just pay the difference?

From what I've read on other threads, you just pay the difference, which is still an amazing deal if you were planning on paying for it anyways.

I'm sorry, but because Shades of Green is not a Disney resort, you would not qualify for any of the "package" or "room" discounts. Free Dining is part of a package, as is anything that includes tickets, which would mean ticket upgrades would as well.
You could always look at some of the Disney resorts though, if and when codes come out, and see if you like the option of switching.

I keep checking on those darn codes but nothing yet..... maybe on Monday.... they wouldn't announce it over the weekend would they???????

They shouldn't... at least I would hope not... people might get e-mails, but I think anything that isn't e-mail based would probably be on a week day...

Yeah, that's what I thought. I was hoping that I could score something. We have been considering switching to a resort, but it would have to be a GREAT deal considering we get such a low rate for SOG. I normally wouldn't do the DDP, because we don't eat that "style", but I'd love to try more restaurants. I guess I'll keep my eyes and ears tuned in and see what happens.

Yeah... I would be booked at Shades of Green, (my soon-to-be DH is Army ROTC) but I don't see it as very romantic for a honeymoon, especially since they don't have a King Bed option. We'll probably do all of our subsequent trips there until he's done with the military though.

If you're planning another trip within a year, then you could get an AP, and purchase the Tables in Wonderland card (formerly the Disney Dining Experience) This would afford you 20% off Table Service restaurants at Disney (they recently attached a compulsory 18% gratuity though, but most people tip that must anyways...)
Also, you can get discounted Annual Passes through the Military which are basically APs without tax.
You should look into even just getting an AP for one member of your party, and purchasing the Tables in Wonderland card, depending on how many people are in your party, and how long you're staying it could be a nice solution that would allow you to try some Disney restaurants. You would have to get a considerable amount of use out of it in order to break even with the purchase of an AP unless your planning a second trip anyways.

Good Morning everybody! Lots of talk about Canadian codes. I am from Canada - no code for me :sad2:

Anyways, I woke up this morning to rain/snow :scared1: Not snow that stays on the groudnd...but it's still SNOW :scared1: The funny thing is, in a few days it will be reallty hot here. Alberta has the strangest weather :lmao:

  SNOW   ~ Who said the "S" word???!!! :lmao: I am really dreading winter. Ours could start as early as Halloween time (not usually that early) and go clear into the first week of May. :scared1: Stupid Snow!

Oh well, at least I'm a Snowbird this year!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

I just bought a 2009 Walt Disney World Calendar on EBay!!! :cool1: Yep, I got totally ripped off, but I LOVE my WDW Calendars!!!!! There was no way I was waiting until the end of January 2009 to get my 2009 calendar at WDW
(if they would even have any left by then)!

Good afternoon everyone. Just got back from dance practice. I had to learn the try out dance for next weekend because I have to teach it as my try-out. I hope that makes sense! Anyways....gotta go get ready for my DD's bowling birthday party! Yea! It should be fun. We only have 10 little girls coming, so it won't be out of hand. Catch ya later!

Hey Snowbirds! :goodvibes

I have a question for somebody who thinks they might know the answer! I need to make a small change to our reservation. Since I booked our package, we have switched airlines. I realize that I need to make Disney aware of this change - but who do I call? Reservations or Magical Express? I have the numbers for both, just need to know who to call! Thanks! :) I am also going to post this on the transportation board!

You know, that is a good point about the AP. My MIL may be going back with another kid in the summer, I should check and maybe get her one... hmmm. Thanks for the idea.
And I agree, I would choose somewhere else for my honeymoon too. Congrats! :yay:
