January 2008 Code Watch

No it did not include free dining. The promotion for last year was a free upgrade to park hopper and water parks and more. There was a little savings on the room also.

I really hope they change that promotion. When we went last year in Jan, the highs were in the 50's and one night it was 30 degrees:scared1: I don't think anyone was at that water park. It did include Disneyquest, but we never went there.

I agree water parks don't seem like such a deal in Jan. However we have been a few times in Dec. and Jan. and our daughter always swims doing this time.

Are you sure it was Jan '07 that you went?? The package I got DID include free dining. And the temps were in the upper 70's every day! That was Jan 18-22, 2007.

Does anyone know if the code for last year started Jan 1? Everyone keeps mentioningn mid jan.

Yes, the code was released on 11/2/06 and was good for travel from 1/1/07 - 2/xx/07 (mid-Feb, don't know exact date). I had originally wanted early January (like 1/8 or something like that), but there is a marathon or something there every year at that time, and places were totally booked. We pushed it out till 1/18 and it was the BEST time to go. Crowds were lite, weather was beautiful. We are going back in '08 at the same time.

Have fun!

Well, I hate to jump ship and not wait around for codes, but I can't sit around and wait for codes!!! I decided to rent points from a DVC member and we got a 2 BR village BW for $300/night!! We are splitting this with another family so it's only $150. That's just about the price of POR! And we get a full kitchen and 3 balconies. Woo-Hoo!:cool1: :cool1:

Can't blame you! Talk about location! Not to memtion your own wahser and dryer and whirlpool tub. No one here would blame you for jumping onto that. However some of us might get jealous.

We are heading to WDW Jan. 26-Feb 1 and have a reservation at the AKV -- first time at the villas. We are waiting for an AP rate so that we can stay somewhere on our arrival day (Jan. 26th). We've gone this timeframe many times and am pretty certain that there will be an AP rate. I'm off to book my airfare today as it dropped to a decent rate out of Dulles for $168 non-stop. Though it may go cheaper, the times available right now are prefect for us.

Just booked at week in January (16th - 23rd) at Pop Century standard view and the only discount offered was a AAA rate. Paying $65.60 and $73.60 per night per room (higher rates on the weekend). We're going to stay at POP instead of the OKW 2 bedroom I had already booked on cash -- so we can go to Hilton Head in the summer on points.

What do you think the chances are that a better rate will come out?

I think that its probably going to be some sort of package deal. The last time we went in Jan/Feb time frame and got a room only GP code was in 2005. We got AKL for $99 dollars a night:thumbsup2 I think those days are over:sad2:

There might be a AP rate but I think if its not the same as AAA it will be around $59 dollars a night but higher on the weekend.

I want your TA's number because I want free dining in Jan!!!!! :goodvibes

For the past two years they have had the same upgraded tickets/a little off the room promo. Last year we went Jan 27th- Feb 3. We wore jackets all day for 2 days and the night we went for the PP Party we were layered, bun dled and gloved!! Needless to say, there was hardly anyone at the party that night. It was 30 degrees.

I'm going Marathon weekend, Jan 10-13... I need a SW DING, but I can't load at work... Ya'll keep an eye out for me!!!

How long ago did you book? We tried to get in there but they were full.

I booked on July 2. It was my 7-month window. I had the choice of anything and any resort I wanted. I was surprised that there was so much available at the AKV. She offered me standard or savanna view. I took standard as I am pinching my points. Only 45 points for a 5 night stay in a studio....wow.

Congrats on the catching the AKV ressie...we just saw the models a couple of weeks ago - they're gorgeous! We're doing a quick trip 1/18-1/22 (but to VWL as that was all that was avail. for a cash ressie). Also crossing our fingers that an AP rate will be available before we go! When you say $168 non-stop are you talking $168 for ea. way? We just booked our air from Dulles non-stop on Jet Blue for $218.80 round trip...they beat both SW and Air Tran on this one! First time we're trying them...TED was about $25 less - but their on-time record wasn't so good so we opted to try Jet Blue! Have fun!:thumbsup2

YES, $168 rt. I've been watching the fare and yesterday it seem to drop. We leave Saturday 1/26 and return 2/1 and the price was $168. This is out of Dulles to MCO on TED/United. The best part was that ALL of the times were available for this price. We love the first flight out (8:50AM) and coming home on a later flight (we choose the 5:00PM). Looks like you're flying MLK weekend, maybe that is why the higher amount.

I crunched your dates and the fare is $148 for your trip-round trip....yikes, sorry to tell you that.
