January 2008 Code Watch

I'll be there January 10-15 for the Marathon. I already have a room ressie, but hoping an AP rate is released. I'm also playing the discount waiting game on the October 2007 Code Watch thread.

Okay so I called AAA back and booked at the POR...value season 12th thru 20th...7 day base tickets...ddp for 2 adults and 3 children. Our grand total is $2992.12~ The TA said she will apply future codes/discounts when the come out plus I can email her anytime I "read" of any. I have never used a hopper before so I am hoping for one of those upgrades :)

We booked POFQ standard room, 12 nights in Jan., deluxe dining plan, 10 day park hopper tickets through AAA and got the AAA discount on the room portion. It was about $350-400 less than what I got when I was playing around on Disney's site. HTH:)

I reserved aaa rate of 73.60 for a single night stay at POP non-pref on Saturday jan 19. Is this a cheap as they get, or should I continue to watch for other codes to become available?

I have a question for all of you AAA users. We don't have AAA, but we would join if it meant a nice savings on vacation. Are you getting discounts on room only?

If a package comes out, I take it AAA's would probably be the same or similar to Disney's? If the package is free park hopper/water, wouldn't the lower room rate be better or would it be about the same for a value?

Thanks for the info!

I think there usually is some sort of room discount but w/ that being MLK weekend and you already having the AAA I am not sure if it would apply? I would watch for a code and call AAA and see if it will work ;)

I booked a pkg and basically I got a room discount only. But my TA said that she will continue to watch for a better deal plus if there is a hopper upgrade etc we could apply that to my already booked pkg. If we have to choose between the room discount or the hopper I will be going with the room rate. I am not sure of the price difference but that to my family would be a better savings since we don't normally use hoppers. Not really sure if I answered your question ;)

We buy our park tickets through AAA (which I haven't done yet for our trip) and book our room with a AAA discount. We don't get the dining plan discount when we do this, but it's a better deal for us to do it this way.

I have two connecting rooms booked at POP for 6 nights, for a grand total of $921.60. Which makes me VERY HAPPY! :cool1:

disneydoula. Have you compared the park tickets from AAA versus some of the discount sellers? I'm just wondering which is the better deal. I have AAA and have used it for our room ressies but I haven't purchased park tickets from them.

Karla,

I just compared AAA with Undercover Tourist, and it looks like I can save about $70 if I buy my tickets with UT. Where have you purchased your tickets from in the past?

Thanks,

Undercover tourist is where I have purchased them most recently. Also, do you subscribe to mousesavers.com newsletter. Sometimes the deals that they have are even better than the regular savings. I just shop around when I am close to ready to buy. Every dollar I save is an extra dollar I can spend when I get there! :rotfl:

I know I have seen the answer to this somewhere, but I can't find it. If I want to be able to use a 40% discount, will it work on a family suite at All Star Music? Or would it be better to get 2 rooms for my family of 6. I would like to make reservations this week. I was thinking about making reservations for room, tickets, and dining plan. Can I later add the hopper pass and upgrade my dining plan? :confused3

I was thinking that if I could get a 40% discount on the room and if they have a January special of free hopper passes, than we could get the deluxe dining planning. Can you use both discounts? This our first trip and I'm still not really sure of how to do the reservations, so we can still use discounts if and when they become available.

Ok, first the discount. I'm not sure what 40% discount you are referring too but I'm pretty sure you cannot combine discounts for lodging.

The thing you have to worry about with the codes is that your particular room type may not be included. For example last year we had Port Orleans Riverside king room and could not use the discount. We could have moved to Port Orleans French Quarter and recieved the discount but we didn't.

The suite vs. 2 rooms is probably a personal choice. How many adults will you have? You mentioned a family of six and even in a suite you can only have 5 persons and one child under a certain age. If all 6 are over (say 3 years old) you will need 2 rooms anyway.

We don't yet know about upgrading the packages as they have just been released. My guess is you can upgrade by changing the package you use prior to your arrival (just a guess).

When should we expect 2008 codes to come out? More specifically Jan.

Hi, we are annual January WDW goers! :thumbsup2
Codes were out for January 2007 packages on November 2nd. I have my paperwork from last year and that is when my code was applied to my AAA package. Usually it is the end of October, beginning of November. Hopefully it won't be long now. :cool1: I am just hoping for better savings than the last few years!

So is it better to get a AAA membership and use the discount for tix and room from there? We also want to go first week of Jan. What kind of codes did they offer last year for Jan? I don't really care about hoppers or water parks but we are staying at a value hotel. So if you book with AAA can you still get the code from WDW? Sorry but I'm really new to all this. My first time as the parent making all the arrangements. ;)
